Shelia, My father in law. would buy chitlings wash them under the running tap and plait them, then he would cook them and eat them . Did you know they were PIGS insestines ???? I never tried them, but he loved them. He would also buy half a pigs head. a make big bowls of brawn. That is something I liked. but you can't buy it with any taste today. Keep promising myself that I will try to make some. He also bought OX TONGUE cook it and skin it, put it in a press, and slice it. you can still get it today at Tesc#s. You sound as if you had a bit of a had life. I don't know too much about B;Ham. but I am sure like all major Cities they have their bad area's

C hester is Jane's Dog, Like you I was confused about our Shirl, she posts as Tracy because that was her daughters signing on name. It might take you a bit of time to get use to us all, but please stick with us, we love to have new "FRIENDS"

Bridget,
You sound about the same age as Jane and I, 56 going on 80. Ha Ha
I so remember playing in the bombed out houses, searching though anything to see what you could find, never found a buried treasure, still looking for my crock of gold at the end of the rainbow. Where do you originate from ???? and where are you now.????

I started life in Woodford Essex.in 1938, joined the RAF National Service in 1958 Got defered as I nursed my Dad with Cancer. Got married had two children now 46 and 45. Moved to Northamptonshire in 1964. and still not a local. !!!! Still class myself as a Londoner, and still got my accent. My ex and I divorced in 1975. Meet my present wife in 1978, She had been on her own for 9 years, with two boys, My special family now, haven't seen my own daughter and grandchildren for over 16 years, and my son for almost 2 years.
But as they say life goes on, Heres me getting all sentimental again.

It's only been in the last maybe 20years that people think we are like.I think it is so funny.I think we maybe have the same mannerisms ,and the same sense of humour, but personality wise we are very different.I love her to bits and am so pleased we were adopted.

Back home now......and don't want anymore food for a week. lol We went to an exhibition about the history of the local road system round here at the records office.......waste of time and got soaked in the rain......they were still unpacking it!! We went in town then and looked around and went in John Lewis.....I love their craft and knitting dept.

FRANK, I thrive on a bit of banter and am not easily offended with an OH like mine.....he is always taking the mickey. lol Yes, I'm 21 again x 3. lol Two years away from a bigger personal tax allowance!! Yes I KNEW it was a caterpillar, just didn't know what kind!!!! Have you got anything left that hasn't got a plaster or bandage on it? lol

Maureen, we don't even get post every day here so things don't arrive when they should anyway........

Thank you all for your birthday wishes xxxxx

Frank sorry about your sore thumb your a walking danger to yourself.

Rain managed to stay away till about 5.30 so got all my bedding dried .
OH phoned to say he would be a bit late in from work as it was teeming down and he would get soaked as he was on his bike, I looked out of the window while I was on the phone and it was starting to rain here so had to call daughter no 2 and boyfriend to dash out and bring the rest of the washing in. now there's wet clothes all over the house , don't want to put on the radiators to dry them or we will will be over come by heat.

Must have been hard not seeing your children & grandchild grow up Frank. I missed my daughter & granddaughter while they were in Italy on their holidays , I'd hate to think when the time comes if they ever decide to move permantly to Italy to be beside SIL parents.

well I can smell the tea cooking , OH cooking tonight so I don't know what we are having, , need to go and set the table

I did go to the greenhouses where they sell the Tomatoes and i had one huge one at lunch time with a cheese sandwich ,i did wonder if it was that ,some times tomatoes will upset me and fresh Beetroot does it too.

Whats Piri Piri Chicken ? Jane,i've never had it before .

Jane

Jane Report 12 Jul 2010 19:22

I think Piri Piri is Portuguese Mandy.Do you have Nandos restaurant ? It is chicken with this hot spicy coating.I am sweating now just smelling it lol
Beetroot I have decided is a No No for me after the last time I had it.Shame really as I love it.I have found in just the last few years there are certain things I just shouldn't eat.
Have a google for Piri Piri .
Not a lot of rain here today ,but just enough not to have to water the garden.

Thank you Jane for the Power Point slide show. Shows the remarkable lengths people will go to. The winner for me was the huge load of chikens and turkeys. A close second was the load of pigs.

Ellen was with me Jane and got her photo taken there.
She usually takes a good photograph,a perrenial natural

.I'm looking my age these days.

David

David Report 12 Jul 2010 19:35

I recall about 30 years ago . Myself and the late husband od a cousin moved a double wardeobe on a pram from Milton Street to Whitethorn Crescent, a distance of 4-5 miles. If no one had been looking we would have carried it.

David

David Report 12 Jul 2010 20:39

Wasn't stolen. Was from one relative to another

Jane

Jane Report 12 Jul 2010 21:03

I'm sure it wasn't stolen David.Thank heavens for prams.I'm sure they shifted a lot of stuff. You wouldn't be able to move anything in today's prams.
Well they aren't prams .Just looking at Amelia's buggy/car seat/ bed/and whatever else it was .It even has a hand brake lol.
Silver cross in my days!

We probably do have a Nandos restaurant in Norwich Jane but i've never been , i googled the Chiken ,i think it might be to hot for me ,i don't mind a bit of spice ,but i think with the chillies in ohhh !!

Rain now stopped and the ground has dried already ,not watering tonight i think they've had enough .
