Hi Everyone,

We were up early this morning .....OH moved my pots off the little top patio and got the pressure washer out so I could jetwash it. He did all the watering, but some things could do with more water already.

Thanks for that Mel. I take it if we screw the connector off the washer the o ring will be the seal for that. I'll get OH to take it off when we've finished slab washing and have a look.

Sorry to hear your pots were disappointing Frank. I tried some different cherry tomatoes this year...........don't like them as much as gardener's delight variety. The plants are loaded though.

Dad used a bucket with the nicotine liquid in.....he had one of those cylinder pumps like a bike pump and had to dip it in the liquid while pumping away with the plunger at the other end to get it to squirt over the beans. A lot of effort.

I went off to the shops then, cooler in the car while OH put the gravel back and topped up the bark chippings around the back of the shed and greenhouse. He's put the 3 water butts back behind the shed, but raised the slabs they sit on higher so it is easier to get a can under the tap on the lowest one. He had to wriggle inside one to change the water tap to one you can snap a hose onto. I was very tempted to give him a 'Zorbing' experience. lol

Glad your plants are doing well David.......you are finding a green finger after all! When I have had Dahlias in the past I found that the darker purply leaved ones did not seem to get greenfly or blackfly.

I knew it!! The hedgehog has christened my clean slabs!! lol

I'm back to the garden plan now and am making the extension on the patio Spa size without telling OH......IF we did happen to consider one in the future, he won't be able to say there's nowhere to put it will he? Forward thinking. lol Wish I was at Mandy's today......her's must be bliss in this weather!!

Afternoon all
All quiet now that Daughter no 1 & Sofia have gone back home, SIL due to land in Edinburgh at 7.00 to night and has finely finished his training after being in Italy for 7 weeks, everyone is happy all round, only down side about it is that daughter no 1 loses the advantage of having the use of the car, now that SIL starts working in Glasgow on Monday he will be driving in to Glasgow every day. she will just have to get used to standing at bus stops and struggling on and off buses with the buggy.

Been pouring down all day, Oh!!! it's just stopped but we still have a wind which is keeping the temperature down.
I'm off out to dinner with some girlfriends tonight hope I can manage to stay awake through the whole meal have been up since 6.00 this morning with the little one but did go back for a rest this afternoon.
I better get a shopping list done so OH can do the weekly shopping while I'm out this evening.
OH got a busy day tomorrow , he's finishing tiling at my dad's house then he's going to mend the shower at daughter no 1 house ,SIL is not very good when it comes to DIY especially electrical work.
Well I'll go and do that shopping list then it's a shower and wash my hair

A bit of relax time for you now Fiona lol.I bet your daughter will be pleased to have her hubby home, and Sofia will see her Daddy again.
RAIN!!! I would love some right now.I would go out and stand in it.I think it is still to hot to water the garden.
Ann you will have to leave a little mop and bucket out for your prickly visitor lol
I think it going to be 31 degrees tomorrow!!
Frank you sound as though you have had a busy morning in the garden.Shame about your potatoes.Maybe you will get more luck with the other bags.

Thank you for your warm welcome back, it's nice to be missed.

Jane when I said I think it's Norman or Norm you were wondering what Shirl's OG's name was. You must be wilting in this heat, you know me, I love this weather, probably won't be saying that when I'm trying to sleep tonight. Have been in the garden all day, all I need now is Frank to come and cook my dinner and then I really will be a lady of leisure.

Hope it stays nice, I shall probably have a wander round the boot sale tomorrow.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jul 2010 18:32

I cooked a chicken earlier ,so it's cold chicken ,new potatoes,my garden peas and dwarf beans ,and roasted peppers, courgettes, red onion and tomatoes.Sounds quite healthy doesn't it.
Poor Chester is not faring well today .How is Toby Mandy? I think I may leave a fan on in the lounge for Chester tonight.OH will say I'm barmy lol

Jane Report 9 Jul 2010 19:44

Thigh bone connected to the knee bone lol David.Do you suffer from Hayfever?Ear ,throat ,chest .Could be that.Or could be an infection.
Mandy ,I can't even go to the Loo without Chester trying to get in there with me.He is flat out under a fan too at the moment .

David

David Report 9 Jul 2010 20:18

No, I don't get hayfever Jane.
What I "think" it is is the consequence of my snorting to clear nostrils and sinuses.
This in turn lands up on the upper chest via post nasal.
Doesn't do to poke the ear either.(but I do)
Now hear the word of the LORD

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jul 2010 20:51

Sounds like Cattargh (Can't spell that). That can bung your ear up.I found quite a good remedy for Cattargh(why can't I spell it) lol,at Tes**.I think it was Covonia .It dries up Catarrh in the nose and throat.

Frank Report 9 Jul 2010 21:07

Have had the water on the garden and lawn all afternoon, done all the watering, now sitting here with a couple of cold beers, with the fan on. It's been Blood# hot today, I couldn't even sit in it,which makes a change for me.

The cat is out flat on the floor with the fan on him.

Don't suppose anyone will be around if I come back later, but we will see.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jul 2010 21:13

Just trying to think of really hot nights as a child .No Electric Fans then to keep you cool.I remember crying because I couldn't get off to sleep.
For the last few weeks we have just had a sheet over us ,but that ends up being kicked off.Fan blowing just a foot or so away from me.Sometimes I will switch it off in the night ,but then a short while after, I'm up to turn it back on again lol.
Night Night everyone xx

Night night Jane, I'm off to bed too. Am exhausted, son came over to load up his van with all his boot sale stuff, made sure he took all the tomato plants !!!!! Told him to give them away if he doesn't sell them.

Let's hope we get some sleep tonight, that's the only down side to this lovely hot weather.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 9 Jul 2010 22:47

The best part of the day now, and its like the summers i remember as a child ,sitting out with Mum and Dad and trying to be good so i could stay up just that little bit longer .
