we've been to sain*burys for a few bits of shopping most all main roads around are clear Daughter no 1 still can't get to work to night so she is doing all Saturday and Sunday to make up for the hours she's missed during the week. SIL had trouble with his car this morning , stuck on the main road, handbreak frozen, called AA they called Police and they came and rescued SIL and guided him home.

12.35pm Not much happening here apart from the Dishwasher is frozen. Its on the north wall of the bungalow and quite a long run of plastic pipe to the drain. I loaded it last night and up came a error on the display. I have syphoned all the water out of it. Will now wait till the weather changes. More work for me washing up every night.!!!
Still very cold, and the cloud is building, so you may be right about something JANE.We could get snow. but nor sure what day it will be !!!
Mel, I am sure Mr Mel, loves your SPICED BUNS. who wouldn't.!!!!

Afternoon All,
Frank.......you BEHAVE........Lol!!
I was at the hospital for 4 hours this morning.......the rest of the group of 6 were all men. I got an offer of a lift home too. They said they would take about 6 teaspoons of blood....they lied......I think they meant tablespoons!! I took a book, but there was no time to read as we had booklets to fill with info all about our/partners/parents/siblings lives. When my height was measured I thought I'd shrunk as the nurse kept saying 4 foot....errr, then came up with 5 foot 1 inch. When I told OH he said she probably meant 4 foot 13 inches! lol When she did the weighing part of it I told her to whisper. I now have to wait for the results.
We haven't watched the recording of Edwardian Farm yet either. I think it si the programme about the Georgians again tonight at 9.00pm.
More jobs to do now.........BBL

Well now Frank, Mr Mel does like my spiced CAKES. I thought about writing Buns or cakes but put buns. My mistake. Trust you to pick up on it!!
Anyway I made a few more today 21 in all and then cooked two small deep pan pizza's for lunch as the oven was hot. He won't eat pizza for a dinner.
Liz everything seems to be upside down at the moment everywhere. When I went to the docs yesterday you can see into the dispensary and the counter was loaded with prescription that a girl was getting ready to bag up. Also on the shelves which we are served from they were overflowing onto the floor and the girl had to tip toe through all the bags to get oh's and my pills.
It is a lot milder today here and the frost has melted even on the rooves of our cars. Think I may go and see if I can pick some stuff for my wreath making.
14.05pm.

Have just had Laura on the phone in tears, as she has go tonsillitis and feels like death! I told her to ring the Dr and get him/her to visit, she said there's no point as they won't come out for something like that!!!! They flipping would if I was there!!!! Neil is up to his eyes with work, (Good I hear you say), but a lot of that is beacause they're having so much trouble with drivers and breakdowns and heaven knows what else, so he is out most of the time. Rang son (Mark) and, bless him, he'll go over to see her and take her to the surgery or whatever. Feel really helpless, being so far away. Felt like tears myself hearing her sound so ill and upset. May go up there next week if things don't improve. Heavens Mel, you've been busy, you put me to shame!!

Very bright low sun out there at the moment. Just looked into it and now seeing bloobs before my eyes. Turning warmer this evening + 1. and up to +9 during the day at the weekend. We will see, they never get it right.
Ros has poped to Tes#o for some bits. She'll come back with a couple of bags full I bet !!! Yesterday she found Shortbread buy one get two free also Liquorice allsorts. We'll have them coming out of our ears.!!! She say's you can't leave offers like that. More today no doubt.
Ann, WHAT DO YOU MEAN !!! I am always a good boy, It's you lot that put your foot in it. What do you expect.!!!!
Doing Pork, in a mushroom and onion layered up with thinly sliced potato, with a grated cheese topping. Brussels, carrots, peas. Bread and Butter pudding for afters with cream. Should keep the wolves from the door. as they use to say.
Just thought of a Saturday winter tea we used to have as kids. After an afternoons football, you would walk down the street to the smell of soused herrings. My, did your appitite run a mock. Dad also made a Eggs, cheese, and milk, mixed and baked in the oven. which we had on toast. The edges were always crisp and brown. I suppore it was like Welsh Rabbit. Also remember before FRIDGES. the sunday tea time Jelly was made in the morning, put in the bowl, with a plate over it, and stood on the coal bunker. till it was needed in the afternoon. That was in the winter. In the summer we didn't have anywhere cold enough to set it. Apart from the granite slab in the pantry, but you had to remember to make it Satuyday afternoon.!!! We had that after, cockles, winkles, mussels, whelks and anything else fishy that the chap had on his barrow outside the pub,Sunday lunchtime.with loads of bread and butter.
I'm off again ain't I. Sorry.

I remember having a bag of hot chestnuts at Walthamstow market where we always went coming up to Christmas. Dad would always buy us some. They came in a paper cone like my nan used to make to put tea and sugar in when she had the corner shop years ago.
16.09pm.
I have washed the last two drawer at lst. Kept getting sidetracked by other things I found in the lounge.

Spoke to Laura again, she sounded a bit better,Mark took her to the surgery and she now has Anti-biotics, so feel a bit relieved. Spoke to DIL Sue, (she and Mark are separated, but not divorced, they get on really well, but don't want to live together!!! no children,so no problem!!) she was full of sympathy and is calling on L this evening, so I feel that I've mustered the troops so to speak! must peel some spuds, and GET ON. Tracy, Canada certainly sounds cold! Thank you for your good wishes.

Liz ,I'm glad your Laura sounds a little better. It is awful when one of the 'Children'(how ever old) are ill and far away.I have had that a few times with James .When he gets a high temp he goes doolally and is quite scary .He always hallucinates!.His poor girlfriend had a heck of a job with him last year at uni when he was ill.He ended up in hospital for a few hours. She kept ringing me to see what she should do bless her.
Well I have my glad rags on ready to go out for this meal.To be honest I think I would rather stay at home(Bah Humbug). It is just making the effort sometimes. It will be nice to get together with everyone again .The last time was at Jenny's Funeral.I am sure we will have a drink for Jenny. It will be very strange without her though.
My neighbours fish pond has about 4 inches of solid ice!!.It has a grill over the top so I can't stand a boiling saucepan on the ice.I did pour 3 kettle full of water until a hole appeared. But I bet it has frozen over again now.
Fiona ,you clever thing. What a beautiful cake.
Liz I can now say ,I hope all goes well tomorrow .It is Friday tomorrow isn't it ???? I am getting dirty looks from Chester. He knows we are going out lol.
Shirl ,It is good your son is doing well with his sister. It must be a relief for you.

The 12 o'clock appt for a viewing was a no show. Asked agent if he had lost interest. She said his phone is switched off.Annoying. Still, there's one booked for Monday.
Got another sack of rock salt at Blyth this afternoon. The roads on the way home were treacherous> There was a six car pile up on the Spine Road. Could have walked home quicker.

Evening all, Another Very sharp frost this morning , DIL has been here with the two little ones since she took Jake to school ,she helped me to put the tree up in the lounge this morning, with lots of help from Chelsea!! bless her she was putting two or three baubles on the same branch lol
We then went to Tes*o's to do some shopping ,by that time it was time for lunch. We had a nice roast chicken tea and they have all gone home now .
Sheila, thank you for your card ,its very pretty it came this morning.
Fiona , thank you for your card ,and what a cake !!!! i could just eat a nice slice lol you've decorated it beautifully .
I'll take a photo of mine when i've iced it ,i hope i can get it done this weekend ,although we'll be busy because its this Sunday we take the little ones to see Santa .
Liz, i hope all goes well tomorrow for OH ,poor Laura ,once the antibiotics kick in she soon be feeling better, its not nice when your far away from them, as big as they are you still want to give them a hug and make it better . I know you've gone Jane ,but i hope you enjoy your meal, we're off out tomorrow night with Sister and BIL for a christmas meal , its the only time sister can go before Christmas as she's working .
Sister And BIL had a bit of a do outside our Homeb*se store ,someone tried to pinch their spare wheel from under the car!!! , one of the office workers in the store saw a man laying under the car and went down to speak to him and he ran off ,he got into a car and they managed to get the car number ,the police came and they said they would send some one round to the mans house to have a word with him ,sounds as if they knew him !!!! one minute longer and he would have got the wheel ,it layed on the ground under the car !!! 7.18pm

Fiona what a lovely cake......those silver balls on it just set it off nicely. Well done. Look forward to seeing yours too Mandy. Some folk have got a cheek haven't they. Fancy trying to nick the spare wheel off a car in broad daylight.
Hope you enjoy your evening Jane. I often feel I can't be bothered to go out when the time comes, but you are usually glad you went when you get there.
Glad your Laura managed to get some antibiotics Liz. Some sore throats can be really bad.....no wonder she was upset poor thing. Sounds like your journey tomorrow shouldn't be too bad weatherwise. Your OH will know what's to happen after this appointment. That little lame bird does well surviving this freezing weather. It always amazes me that the birds with bare legs (feathered !) don't get their legs frozen solid.
The meals you do always sound delicious Frank. It's a good job you don't live close by or we'd be round for any leftovers......second thoughts...bet there wouldn't be any. lol
David, the roads sound bad where you are. You must have to allow a lot of extra time for journeys. I hope you are not let down by the person viewing your house on Monday. I remember it happening when I sold my last house. All that tidying up and thumping cushions for nothing!!
Well, like you Liz I'm an early bird usually, so I'm off now to watch Edwardian Farm and Turn Back Time in bed. I think I only slept about 4 hours last night. Lay awake hours thinking I mustn't oversleep, then the alarm didn't go off, so it was a good job I woke up at 6.00am. Night, night. xx
