Morning all, Bit cloudy here at first but the suns now shining and its warming up.
I can remember Mum putting her bottles of milk in a pail of water to keep them from going off when it was hot ,a piece of wood was layed on top of the pail ,Don't we now take fridge's for granted ,we just open the door and everythings nice and cool !!
Is Chester feeling a bit better today Jane?
Got the family coming for tea again ,got a cooked Chicken from Morri*ns ,bit of salad and new potato's ,nice and easy .
Didn't tell you we went in the Pool ,yesterday ,bit cool round the old nether regions !!!!! but it is warming up nicely ,should be warmer by the weekend if the weather keeps warm .

Chester got his walk Mel ,and yes Mandy he is much improved.I must remember to start giving his tablets tomorrow. I just got a rotisserie style chicken from M&* and have it the oven now.So with salad and new pots we will be having the same as you Mandy. There are some funny looking clouds up there a bit stormy type of ones.I hope we don't get thunder today.
I have 2 fridges and an upright freezer.I would be totally lost without them.I suppose in the days before them people would buy food each day if they were handy for the shops.I remember the meat cage in the larder on the marble shelf.

Afternoon all,
We use to have a "MEAT SAFE" in the pantry. Galvanized sheet box, with tiny holes in,nothing could get in ,we also had a pantry window, which was covered and always open. A marbel slap was at the bottom, the door swung open to get the meats, butter, and any perishible goods. We also had the Bucket of cold water on the pantry floor with the milk in, When the top went sour it seemed to affect the whole bottle, not nice to have sour milk floating on your tea !!!! but that was the way things were.
Have had the hose on all morning filling the pond. The fish seem a lot happier and jumping out of the water. Must be all the frest oxygen in the water.

Me Lazy Frank??? No I just thought it was about time my son took a turn in walking Chester. The chicken smells handsome in the oven.I will be tempted to pick at it when it is cooked. But I better not as it is not a huge one. When we had Roast Chicken when I was young.I would offer to take the empty plates out to the kitchen, and have a good old picking off the bird.Dad would suddenly whip open the hatch and catch me in the act lol

When I was young and mum was carving the meat I would ask her for a taster?
Mum also kept the pot of jam in a saucer of water in the pantry cupboard so the ants would'nt get to it.

We have Lewis for the weekend, there is a very large strawberry, that is just about ripe, Ros has said she will leave it for "her little boy" to find.
Have just got a 16lb Turkey out of the freezer, so when Son and DIL come to pick him up Sunday we can have a late dinner. Will also invite No 2 son down from Rutland, and have a family get together.
I spoke to my own son last Sat. He said my Fathers day card was in the post. Here's Thursday and still no sign. I bet he forgot it was Fathers day, and will say it must have got lost in post. Such a shame that I have no real contact with both Daughter and Son and my three Grandsons, Thank god I married Ros, and have a new and loving family. and it still goes on 32 years later. They never forget me. !!!!

I did hear about the quake last night Shirl, and did wonder if you were all ok.I didn't know about the tornado though.Scary!!!!!!!!.Thank goodness it was only your pots that got smashed . I bet everyone will be recovering from the shock of it all today. The Tennis Match is on .The longest match in history.I hope they don't take too long today as it's my job to water EVERYTHING in the garden tonight and that takes ages. Back when the match is over

Did you get a pic of the hedgehog Ann or did it come too late?I haven't seen our woodpecker for a while, but I still hear one. We all want a pic Mel of the hole lol...Well I felt so sorry for the poor French Chap who lost that long match. The both were amazing to keep going like that. The American is 6' 9''!!!!!!!!!!!. I'm off to do all the watering now.I will make sure to give the peas a really good soaking as I think they can be hard if they haven't had enough water.I must see if we have our sprinkler still as that would make life a bit easier. Chester will get all excited now when I turn the outside tap on.I bet you will all hear him lol

Oh the wonderful perfume that comes off the roses and all the herbs when they are watered.I still haven't finished. The patio and the front still to do.I might wait till Chris gets home for him to do the front as I am not really dressed decently enough to go around there lol.
Frank it is such a shame that your first family don't keep in touch, but I think you sound as though you have a fantastic step family.I know how proud you are of Lewis. He loves his Pappy.
I see the temperature is still going to get higher !!!.I am afraid housework will just be put on hold until it cools off a little.I will just do the essentials.Plus of course there is football and tennis lol.....any excuse really.

Family all gone home now ,Toby's flat out fast asleep ,he's always tired after the children have gone as he runs about with them .
Shirl ,that Quake must have been really scarey ,i remember several years ago we had a slight one here ,by the time we realised what was happening it was all over,so long as you and family are ok thts all that matters ,and pots can be replaced .
Wow thats a turkey and a half Frank !! are you doing a roast ? should be really hot on Sunday ,you might want to cook it so you have it cold .
We have a Hedgehog visit our garden now and again, i sometimes see a little black calling card !!
The Pigeons keep pooing in the garden first thing in the morning and if i don't get to it first Toby rolls in it !!!!!!!
When the children came they went in the Spa ,we always make them wear their armbands ,little Chelsea was so excited she said
Nanny ,Nanny can you put my ARMPITS on LOL

Don't talk to me about pigeon poo Mandy!!!!!.I step in it and Chester eats it lol Arm pits!!!! Love it Mandy .She might call them that forever. It's funny how things stick. When I took Chester to the vets yesterday you would have thought there was an earthquake .He shook so much that the table he was standing on was actually moving across the floor lolol.
I went to 3 bottle banks today to dispose of ours and every one was chock a block.I think the world cup has something to do with it.....all the beer bottles lol.I had to bring my bottles home.
