At last, Ive managed to get on line!!! This morning I tried and all I could get was an advert from BT, about the WW net!! I simply couldn't cancel it or get past it , it just kept reappearing!! it was SO frustrating. In the end I moved my laptop into the kitchen and that seemed to do the trick. It's called BT FON!!! OH is ringing BT later to tell them what to do with FON!!
Have to go and have my ear syringed this morning, it's completely blocked which is SO uncomfortable. Feathers well and truly ruffled this am!!!! So glad you had a good evening Jane. The Rabbi sounds such a lovely old man, must try and get a copy of his book. Thanks for the jokes Frank, they DID make me smile, ruffled feathers and all!! Talk later, I hope!!

Morning all
Glad you enjoyed your evening out Jane.
another wet & windy day. Got back from seeing the nurse this morning. wow does my arm ache after she took the blood, some people are good at taking blood some arn't and she is one of them who arn't. My blood doesn't like leaving me at the best of times but today it took a bit longer than usual and I had to have three samples taken, anyway blood presure was good, have to phone back in 4-5 days for my results.

Hope you are ok after your ears are syringed Liz, I once had really blocked ears and kept hearing a humming noise and when they were syringed I was told the noise would go in time. but unfortunatly it has not gone . but I have learned to cope with it .

Jane glad you enjoyed your night out we had in our house for sometime a book Best of Blue its just been sitting in the book case so fetched it out and had a read in bed last night. it did not interest me because of the picture of him but its good reading .He is a amazing man.

I am off to the movies at 2pm with my son then going out for a meal .Tomorrow is is the craft fair at the NEC looking forward to that. I have sat worrying and crying for two long about people and all thats ended from now on. I am going to enjoy myself but still do my charity work.

I had some very funny jokes from my son s friend today and a racing car doing some fantastic moves.

I went for a bood test and had a laugh the nurse said three times which arm would you like this in and I said my left arm then she chatted away to me and did it in my right arm I said nothing she is such a nice lady

I would like to see a picture of your dress when you go to the wedding Jane.

I see lots of mushroom stories from my comment about the guy cooking his mushrooms he is a tramp he said today you do not see many like me which amused me and i said how do you know those mushrooms are ok and he said by the smell. I do not know a thing about mushrooms but he said he cannot find very many now. We have some growing round an old tree but I think that is not the same.

My memory is of my mum cooking bacon and mushrooms for Sunday breakfast .

have a nice day.

Amanda embroidered christmas cards sound lovely
I have just painted some christmas cards .Fiona so sorry about your daughters hair lets hope it grown normally soon.

It think you are right Sheila to take some time for yourself and have a bit of fun.You can still care and worry about others .It's just getting the balance right isn't it.Been there before and because I was so wrapped up in other peoples problems home life became very difficult, and it became an unhappy time for everyone.I can see that now ,but not at the time.

The sky is looking very fierce ,and the clouds are flying past at a rate of knots.
Batten down a few hatches I think lol

Sounds like it was a great laugh Jane. Has he been on the tele, or am I thinking of someone else. Must have missed a previous thread, whose wedding are you going to and when, will look forward to seeing the photos of you in your new frock. They don't call dresses frocks anymore do they, gives my age away ....lol

Would be really interested to hear all about your meeting Ann, I think most of us would, seems we've all got Ag. lab. in our trees.

I'm sitting very glamourously at the computer with a dye on my hair, musn't leave it on too long, my hair went very blond through the summer, going to tone it down to a brown now, hairdresser should be round in an hour, think I might get her to cut it a bit shorter than usual. Time for a change.

I have about 20 e.mails to read, nearly all of them are jokes, so if my hair comes out all wrong at least I can have a good laugh.

Probably won't get on here again tonight and am away this weekend so have a good weekend all and see you Monday xxxxx

Jane

Jane Report 4 Nov 2010 17:37

Not sure if he has been on TV Maureen.I think it may just be radio.
The wedding is the sister of Darren who married Rachel in Dubai.Luckily it is in Stanmore lol.It will be nice to see Rachel and Darren again as they will be over.
Frock !!That is one of those words the more I say it the funnier it sounds lol
Have a great weekend and stay safe with those fireworks.

Evening all

Bit wild outside with the wind !!

Glad you enjoyed the Theatre Jane , i'am not sure if i know Rabbi Blue ,was he on the television ,i seem to remember a softly spoken Rabbi that used to be on telling funny stories on a television show ,but carn't remember which one .

So Mel has OH's birthday on Sunday, my sons birthday is Saturday he will be 33 ,where have the years gone !!!

Fiona , i could asked my sister what sort of things people give the career's/nurses in the home ,she works nights in one and i know she says tha tif they have tins of sweets given the day staff usually have most of them ,the night staff don't really get any ,she said there's only papers left in the tin by the time they start work ,not very fair is it !!!

Sheila, hope you enjoyed the film and the meal after ,bet you get all sorts from the craft fair ,don't get carried away and spend too much lol
I would love looking round one ,we never seem to have any this way .

Maureen , i hope you have a nice weekend away,no letting off to many jumping Jacks !!!

Mandy It could have been Rabbi Blue that you saw as he does have a lovely soft voice.I have just started his book, which I think I am going to really enjoy. He kept joking about himself being an 80 year old Gay Rabbi lol.I wanted to give him a big hug lol,and he called everyone darling !
He grew up in London's East End and was brought up by his Grandmother.I think it was a tough time for Jews living there then.

I often wonder where the years have gone.I thought my parents were quite old at the age I am now.So I expect my 2 must think the same about me.It's a bit scary really.

I meant to say Chester is covered for that medication. We have to pay the excess of £155 each year.So I think after Xmas I will get him put on it.Insurance people said most people whose pets are on life long meds put claims in about 3 or 4 times a year.Phew I am so glad he is insured.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 4 Nov 2010 18:21

It was him on the Wogan show Jane ,i just Googled him and i heard his voice ,i do remember him now .

Thats good he's covered for the medication ,one payment a year is much better than having to keep paying out each month,i hope it gives him some relief poor old boy !!!

Toby's not keen on all this wind ,he goes out has a quick tiddle and comes back in mighty quick.

Trying to watch the news and the sky keeps going off no signal again its the wind ,really blowing and gusty!!

Mandy, I have thought about the usual sweets, biscuites, Jane said a good one how about wine, and that is so very true about the number of staff who change through out the day.
I still have quite a few weeks before I make up my mind, I have a friend who's father is in the same care home, she says she has never really been able to work this out either and usually buys several different boxes of goodies to hand over.

What ever I give I know will be ok , on the sentimental side of things I can never say thank you enough to the staff who care for dad ,
A family member with dementia or with any other reason for being in care
are truely blessed with the good people who like your sister look after them on a day to day basis. They are all fantastic folk and offer a great and caring service to the residents and there families.

My sister really loves her job ,she is one of the seniors and has been there over thirty years now ,the other day she was telling me about one of the ladies that watches some of the residents having visitors ,she turned to my sister and said "i have no one to visit me " sister said she was a Barnardo's child !! its very sad !!

Been out and you have all posted lots of messages.

Glad Jane enjoyed her night out with Chris.

Sheila do you do much painting and is it in watercolour?

I shall have to see if I can scan some of mums paintings so I can send them to you all. she was very good with chacoal and chalk. There is a pastel picture which she did years ago that has always hung on her bedroom wall. When I took it down yesterday I noticed the backing paper was coming away and some damp has got in a bit. I shall have to find somewhere to have it cleaned up and resealed as it is really lovely. There is a vase on the left and two yellow roses laying on a table by the vase. It is mostly grey colours with just the two roses in yellows. I love the way she has captured the light shining on the side of the vase.

Hope Ann had a good time with her friend today and has a lot to tell us about Ag. Labs.

Frank you have been quiet today. What have you been up to?

Hope Toby is ok Mandy.

Maureen how is little Alfie? Has he been ok lately?

I have to say when I was a Nurse .I just loved the elderly.I spent hours listening to stories from the past.Back then we had time to sit and listen.I am so pleased I am not a Nurse now ,although I do miss it.
When Mum was in her Home there were a couple of ladies who never had visitors.I used to go and have a chat, but Mum would get jealous and say'it was her I went to see'...not them lol

Just had my bath & washed my hair

Jane
I wish i had the nack of being able to chatter away to the folks in dads home easily, OH rambles on about all sorts of things but I find it difficult to keep a conversation going when theres no real conversation being talked about, you know what I mean, Dad always falls asleep or gets up and walks away.
I go to see dad usually on a wednesday or friday about 2.00pm with daughter no 1 and Sofia,
The residents love Sofia toddling up & down the corridors and the staff think she's great and are always giving her PLAIN biscuites to eat, she now will happily toddle into the main office in reception if the door is open with me dashing in appoligising for the interuption, they don't seem to mind, and are happy to see her it probably gives them a break from routine.

well I'm away to dry my hair and have my bed time drink. OH due home tonight but rang to say he would be late as the trains were all running a half an hour late so that means he hopefully will be in about half past 10.

goodnight everyone
xxxx

Jane Report 4 Nov 2010 21:57

Oh Fiona ,you don't need to worry about a conversation going.Just having someone sat with them can be enough .Small talk is enough, even if it makes no sense to you lol.
I am watching THE SCISSOR SISTERS on tele.(I think I may have an odd taste in music) lolol. But maybe I am just odd !!!!!!
