Hi Everyone,
Glad you managed to have a good sleep Mel and hope you are ok today. We have all been thinking about you.
I'm still around Sheila, but the girls have been off school with bad coughs and colds, so I've had to play nurse too :) Mark seems to be ok at the moment though. Thanks for asking about Andrew's job. A few of his collegues were given the boot, but he was one of the lucky ones. However, he's now accepted the job in Cambridge and will start in January. This will give him some job security - we hope. Poor Sophie received a call from the guy she was going to marry. He told her that as she had dumped him, then it was only fair that she should find him someone else - unbelievable !!!!!
Elizabeth, I was sorry to hear about your husband. It must be such a worry for you all, but on a positive note, the treatment for this kind of cancer has come on in leaps and bounds during the past few years.
Maureen, I'm glad little Alfie hasn't had any more fits. Fingers crossed that he doesn't. When I was looking after Emily a year or so ago - she had a fit. Luckily, Andrew was there and sorted her out. I almost froze in fear as it was so out of the blue. One minute she was fine and the next, on the floor and having a fit. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but felt like hours. When she came round, she was terribly sick and extremely tired. Poor little girl.
Turkey Frank.... Then we will all come to you at the weekend :)

Morning All,
I had another lovely nights sleep except that I got cramp in my calf in the early hours.
When I got up this morning I still had a pain and it felt stiff. I nearly fell over.
Miserable day here today and the oil has just arrived!!
Off out at about 10.30am and then having lunch out again.

Mum always kept a can of condensed milk in the cupboard when I was small. I liked it in tea when the milk had run out. Wintergreen oitment my grandfather used to ease his aching back. It was dark green and smelt lovely.
Jane I don't think the milk you had on tin fruit was condensed, it must have been evaporated milk. Carnation I hated and still do. I did give Carnation to my son as a baby as thats what they used in the hospital where I had him. I kept him on it as I could'nt stand the smell of the powdered milk. He thrived on it and then went on to ordinary cows milk from that.
My best friend adored condensed milk and ould buy a tin and eat it off her finger. It was too sweet like that for me.
Algepan was something else my grandfather used. I seem to remember it had red writing on a white tube.

Thanks Catiel, as you say the outlook for prostate is much more positive these days, so 'positive' it is!!! Must tell you all, I have been researching a branch of my family and have had a lot of very good helpful information, so far, so good! well, on the surname thread I asked if anyone could find out my G.G Grandmother's MOTHER'S maiden name, and if she had any siblings! Only that as I know who she married and when, date of birth etc, all on her marriage certificate! I obviously don't want to know that again!! you should read what's come back. ALL the info that I've already got and DIDN'T ask for! and a great speel of how I've abused the system by asking all this again etc etc! I asked about Jane's MOTHER, not Jane herself!!! For heavens sake it makes you feel that you just can't ask anything without someone having a fit at you!!! Have written back to that effect!! Watch this space!

Well, perhaps I don't!!!! Here come the postman, letter form the hospital I think, Talk again soon.

Morning all,
Glad you had a good night Mel, It must be a relief for you to be able to go to bed and not worry about MUM.
Trust you Jane, Condensed milk on cerial, and fruit, Far to thick (A bit like you !!) LOL
Did you take Chester out this morning. Would be loverly to have a dog again, to get out in the morning across the fields. Which I did with my Golden Lab. Wicksteads park over the back way. He would love to swim in the Lake and the ISE on the way back. Have they built on Gotch Road down passed Orton Road.??? Thats where we use to go every morning. Open fields and single track railway to Stewart & Lloyds.
Catie, Did you get the Email about Christmas. If anyone with young children/grandchildren would like the video of christmas sceens. Let me know. I found it yesterday when clearing out all the rubbish on the computer. I had it in 2008. and don't think I sent it on to you all. The children will love it !!!
Liz, I trust the postman bought the hospital appointment. The sooner it's over the better. It will put all your minds at Rest.!!!

Yes, Hospital appointment for next Sunday (!) 31st Oct at 9.50 am. Thats good, and should be much easier traffic wise than during the week. Condensed milk should be munched using a serving spoon as it's yum!! VERY bad for the old cholesteral (spelling?)

Afternoon All,
Lovely sunshine here and we had planned to go early morning to see those deer fighting, but plans all went wrong!! OH opened his eyes after a nap yesterday teatime and was panicky as he had double vision. We hi tailed it to A & E as he is at risk of a detached retina. His sight had gradually got back to normal before we got there, but he was seen and checked over, also for stroke symptoms. They couldn't find anything serious, but told him to go to the Eye Clinic this morning for a better look at them, so this morning we were up early and sitting and waiting again. Outcome is, they think it may have been a kind of migraine (he does get them and with visual disturbance) but to come back if it happens again.
Catie, I cannot believe that man!!! The nerve.......Sophie is well rid of him!! lol
Yes, you go out and have a nice meal again Mel......you deserve it!! Glad you had a good sleep, it will do you good.
That's good to get a Sunday appointment Liz......should be easier to park as well.
Hi Jill, nice to see you back again. I really enjoyed the programme last week about Norman Wisdom's life. He had a really tough start didn't he. Loved the bit where he was in the home singing to the others!! I bet they loved it too.
I have emailed you Jane.

Hi Jill, good to see you back, it's been quite a time. How are the grandchildren. Our Finley has four teeth now, two top and two bottom. He's pulling himself up and walking a bit round the furniture. Says dad da, and is still a little smiler.
That must have been a bit scary for OH Ann, good job you're there, what would he do without you !!!!
Don't you feel good when you finally do something you've put off and off, have just paid my tax bill so am now going to tackle the car and house insurance. Wish me luck ...lol

Hi All, Have just made a Lemon Meringue pie. Took ages to beat the egg whites and caster sugar. Then Madam tells me she has an electric(which I didn't know ) whisk. With that, the soft peaks came in no time at all. Just taken in out of the oven. Going to make some Sausage rolls and a few mince pies for the weekend.
We have to go to Rutland tomorrow. Conrads partner's Granddaughters 3rd birthday, and Nanny Ros and Pappa Frank have been invited to the party. Jan's daughter is driving up from Torquay today.
Jill, My memory must be going, as I don't remember much about you. SORRY.!!!!
It's great that you have an appointment so soon Liz, I didn't know they worked on appointments on Sunday's. Keeps the backlog down, dosen't it.???
Have had all Ros's Christmas presents turn up today. "Abalone " Necklace, Pendant, bracelet, and earrings. nice looking with loads of colours (NOT THAT I CAN TELL YOU WHAT COLOURS.) But look good to me. Also I bought a whole shell. that I will get a link fitted to, so she can wear that as a pendant. I try to surprise her, but very difficult, for you women, that seems to have everything they need.!!!! including good husbands. !!!!
Clouding up outside, so might get a drop of rain, they do say it will be milder this evening, the wind is coming from the South West.
Just finished my book. East end families, during the 1936s on the lead up to the War, and the "BLACK SHIRTS" only a couple of years before I was born, but my God what a hard time they had then. Poverty was all around, and very little work. No wonder my dad was in the Royal Navy. As least there was enough money to feed and cloth us lot. With Mum doing her cleaning at the "BIG HOUSES" I think she had three jobs going on after the war. I think it make you appreciate what we have got today. Even though we still moan.!!
