Evening All
So sorry to read that your mum has passed away Mel, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take care♥♥♥

Been out all day today took a trip down to the Clyde Valley where all our garden centres are, OH treated me to lunch and had a lovely time walking round looking at the christmas decorations which are already on display. a bit too soon to buy anything, but got some good ideas,
Freezing today when we got up , everyone had to scrape the frost of their cars before they went anywhere.

Morning All,

Thank you once again for your good wishes.

Quite bright this morning but there are clouds in the sky.

I had a good nights sleep but think it was due to the fact that OH and I found a lovely bottle of port and had cheese and biscuits last night and we drank about three quarters of the bottle!!! Both slept like logs and feel a lot better today.

Have to go out tomorrow and reg. the death.

Morning Mel
I bet that port did the world of good. That fact that you didn't have keep an ear open must have helped too.
Bright and very frosty this morning. The window cleaners have been EARLY while `i was still in bed and Chris on the loo lol
I hope you have a good day Mel.

Have added 4 more people to my tree this am! very slightly worried they're not the right ones! but think they must be (if you see what I mean!) STILL can't seem to run Jane Restall's mother's family to earth! have got her father banged to rights (!!) but not her, illusive or what! will have a bit of a session today. Do hope you are feeling a bit more able to face things today Mel, losing your parents is just horrid, particularly your mother, keeping busy helps and I guess you'll have plenty of that! Thinking of you. x Thank you Frank, have passed that on! I should think you'd just give up!!!!

Just popped in to say hello.

A good night's sleep will have helped Mel. It's surprising how much has to be done, luckily for me my brother dealt with all the legal stuff. The probate has taken 4 months and it was a very straight forward will, everything split down the middle between my brother and me.

I have been very good with my exercising everyday .... wonder how long that will last ..... Can only manage 2 minutes at a time though, I can't believe how slow a minute goes !!!!!!! but everytime I'm passing the cross trainer I jump on for a couple of minutes. Seems to help with my breathing too as my peak flow has gone up since I started exercising.

Sorry Frank, I should have asked if you wanted the books back before I go giving them away. If you don't I shall forward them to you Ann.

Alfie is still pretty quiet, sleeping a lot, think those fits on Monday has knocked the stuffing out of him, but still fingers crossed, no fits since Tuesday.

I wonder what a dream expert would make of your dream Sheila, I can never remember mine, perhaps it's just as well !!!!

Afternoon All,

Glad you had a good sleep last night Mel, it always helps. It must be strange for you today after usually busying around for your mum. Still, doing all the necessaries will keep you occupied for a while.

Maureen, you are doing well and yes, 2 mins seems ages!! lol I used to get out of puff in no time. It is handy as you say though.......I used to jump on mine while the kettle boiled. lol At the moment I am doing the Wii freestep........10 mins it lasts but you can switch to watch tv while you are doing it. I think I need to put a plank under the wii board though to step a bit higher. I'm hoping it will help get my knees better at doing stairs and hills!! lol

Jane I have PM you.

Maureen

Maureen Report 21 Oct 2010 16:08

I did think about buying the wii and wii fit Ann but would only use it for the fitness and it would have worked out very expensive. I'm all out of breath at the moment, went upstairs for something so jumped on for two minutes, my legs are all wobbly now !!!!

You must get a lot of exercise with all the walks you and OH are doing, much nicer way to keep fit, mind you not if you're stopping off for lunch !!!

Afternoon all
Glad you slept well Mel, makes a big difference getting some sleep.
Bitterly cold wind today. OH and I went into Glasgow to shop , his car is in the garage for a service, quite enjoyed the train ride. we went to Di Mag**os for lunch which was a nice change.

I managed to get a few little things for Sofia christmas, I said I wouldn't start christmas shopping this early but that plan went out the window as OH was there to carry the bags, any excuse!!!!
need to get the kettle on I am parched.

does anyone remember condenced milk, wintergreen ointment, jucttion violet, and the cots we had in the infants class, mine went all the way with me untill i left school, cannie, nanny

LilyL

LilyL Report 21 Oct 2010 17:06

Yes, I remember condensed milk, and Gentian Violet. I had impetigo when I was about 8, and G.V was used to cure it! all I can remember is how blue it was!!!! don't remember Wintergreen ointment or cots! I seem to remember having a camp bed at the day-nursery I went to. but I only went all day one day a week, the rest was just mornings, and it's SUCH a long time ago I could be mistaken! I remember being frightened of Father Christmas and refusing to sit on his lap, that was at the day nursery, AND I remember having to be taken out of the theatre 'cos I screamed at the ugly sisters, they were so scary, and cross at being screamed at!!! What an embarrassing child!!!!

Frank Report 21 Oct 2010 17:51

Afternoon one and all,

Went for a haircut this morning, then round Morriso#s to get stuff for weekend. Family coming for Dinner on Sunday. Bought a TURKEY. works out good value compared to a Beef Joint, and I like it cold and in a curry. Lewis will enjoy it, we have him all next week.

Shelia, How did the Social know where those children would be ???? Also I didn't know they did Gilda ONeills books on CD. can you let me know where your friend got them from. I would like to have CDs instead of books. ???? Do you know what titles they do. ????

Have spent two hours this afternoon cleaing out all my DELETED emails and SENT items. they go back to June. So now perhaps the computer will work a bit quicker.

Mel, So glad you had a good night, last night. A bottle of port will aways do the trick. I use to turn to the Scotch when I was first bad after my Stroke. Now I don't touch it. In fact I haven't had a glass of wine for over two weeks now. and haven't been out for a pint.!!!!

I still like Condensed milk on bread and butter. That was a favourite during the war. I think Mum used wintergeen ointment on chaped legs, where the short troursers, rubbed your legs in the winter. There was also ZAM BUCK that was another for rashes. Campherated oil for rubbing on your chest and feet when you had a cold. Mustard foot baths for cold feet. The old nit comb over the paper on the table, when you came home from school. HOSE WERE THE DAYS !!!!

Maureen please pass on the books to whoever wants them. There may well be some more on the way if I can find the ones I want. and when read will pass on.

Where's our Jane,??? getting Chris's dinner I suppose. We are having a Curry.

Jane Report 21 Oct 2010 17:59

I only remember having to put my head on my arms on the desk for a nap at school.Condensed milk I think we poured over sliced peaches for pudding, and Mum made milk jelly with it.
I have a photo of me on Santa's lap.I loved him.I have one of my daughter sat on his lap and she was bawling her eyes out lol
There was one year when I was about 6 and was on stage in the local village hall.Mum and Dad were in the audience with my sister who was maybe 2.I remember just as I was doing my important bit, hearing my sister shout out
"I need a Wee Wee" lol.I was totally mortified !!!!.How dare she upstage me !!

Maureen

Maureen Report 21 Oct 2010 18:10

I LOVED condensed milk, would open the tin and eat it by the spoonful.

Do you think if I slipped in with the family Frank for Sunday lunch you would notice an extra one !!!!!

Jane

Evening all,
