Mandy and Jane it was a shock but my ho really is so funny without meaning to be. I am sitting having a weep thinking Oh Matt like you would when you get a card from someone you have just buried and in comes oh all pleased with himself and said we have had a card from New York.

I said have you read the card he said no cant be bothered
I said well read it and he read it and said its from Matt
I said yes dummy and he said Oh well at least he arrived
where ever he went to old Matt bless him. I did get a cup of tea and the remark theres no chocolate burbons in the tin didnt you buy any.

So Mel your right he will always be with us Matt but only my ho could pick up a card with Big Apple on it and not read it.

I once set the kitchen on fire Mandy so dont worry. I forgot some olive oil in a pan and it caught alight and was burning away I thought dont panick grab a tea towel could not find one by now it was sending the walls black and I threw the pan in the in the sink my son came in saying anything burning mum I said no its just me setting the kitchen on fire and he said nice one mum and went. My ho had a fit and had to recorate the kitchen and kept on about it for a year. I had a bad chest for ages.

I am so sorry about your mum Mel it brings it back to me and my mum you feel sometimes a bit helpless wondering what you can do to make them feel better.

I nearly cancelled my genes today with my computor and aol playing up lost all my stuff and all the flipping
e mail names you sent and it keeps sticking and things keep getting layered and stuck I thought hang the computor
and then it went off .After I got it back on some really rude pictures popped up. I had a quick look and deleted them
anyway got no messages all disapeared I think I deleted everything trying to get it to work .
it reminded me of Bridget jones when she answers her phone and gets a recorded message you have no messages not even from your mother.

I set fire to my shopping bag Sheila.I left it on the top of the oven to unpack the shopping ,and somehow knocked the knob on without realising .It went up in flames .I had to chuck Chester out in the garden because of the choking smoke.Somehow I picked the flaming bag up and dropped it in the sink.Turned the tap on it.I shook for ages afterwards.I think some people here will remember the photo I sent of the burnt bag lol.Luckily we didn't have to re decorate.
What can I say about your OH and the card ? Just typical Men lolol

What are you lot like....Setting Fire To Everything lol
Years ago my mum had one of those cookers with an eye level grill. She went to make some toast and forgot there was a tea towel on top. Mum had only turned her back on it for seconds and whoosh...... What a mess and the smell. Fortunately my level headed brother was at home to sort it all out lol

just read your posts sheila, I would have been stunned too about getting the New York card, but nice to think he even sent you a card from New York ,
my 2 girls ring me if they can when they arrive at their destination even if it was going to be expensive, It is the last thing I always say to them let me know some way or other when you have arrived safely,
I had to do the same thing for my mum & dad, and OH mother rings when she arrives home after spending a holiday with us.

Hubby set fire to sons barbeque !!!
I mean how can he moan at me about a saucepan when he did a whole Barbeque lolol
I think it was fat that had run down over the switches ,next minute whoosh !!!
bit worrying as it was a Gas Barbeque, and it was under his wooden pergola too ,can laugh about it now but was a bit scary at the time.

Jane Report 12 Oct 2010 20:48

I set fire to a T Towel too which then set fire to the toaster lol.I now get a panicky feeling if I smell any smoke. It gets my heart pumping in fright ....but it is normally next doors bonfire lol
Fiona ,I always rang home whenever I arrived somewhere and my 2 usually do the same.Even when my sister left us on Sunday I said ,give me a ring when you get home.

Mandy, oh Mandy, whatever sticks on saucepans seems better than any glue you buy!! lol I seem to remember burnt jam being a devil to get off once!! That is just like my OH..... causes a distraction and then he's surprised when it causes a problem. lol He always thinks it is nothing to do with him....must be a man thing!! I bet your son watches him now if he gets anywhere near his barbeque. lol

Yes Maureen, I would need a toilet roll to write out my christmas list for him and he'd get pins and needles in no time with me on his knee!! lol We think it is the nearby garden centre advertising as there was a sign up about a christmas grotto today and they haven't done one before.

I remember your fire Jane and you saying the smell wouldn't go for a while.

My head is much better Jane and Sheila. Thank you for asking.

When I was ten we moved house. It was probably built in the 50's, but had a newish extension on the back. I didn't think anything of it, until I went to school lol. You know what children are like...What's your name... Where have you moved from... Where do you live now? My answer to that final question set tongues wagging. There was no shortage of voices to inform me that the house we had moved into had a ghost. That there had been a fire and someone had died - hence the newish extension, built to replace the one burnt down. Did I race home that afternoon to find out if it was 'true' lol. Sadly, it was. However... No ghost appeared lol.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Oct 2010 09:46

Morning,

From a bleary eyed Mel.

Up at 4.15 as mum rang her bell. She wanted a nice cup of tea!!!! Then when I gave her it she asked why OH had rung the bell twice. Anyway went back to bed. OH woke me about 7.30 and said come quick. She had got out of bed, got her stick and was at the front door fallen on the floor with her face on the doormat. OH had her in the right postion and I went and got a pillow for her head. Then got the wheelchair and we managed to get her into it and get her back in bed. She has cut her mouth and the side of her eye looks sore too. Then had to wait for the docs. to open as we wanted him to come and not someone she dos'nt know.

waited till 8.15 ish and rang and they said doc. would call as soon as poss. In all this time she had'nt spoken, just grunted a bit. When he came she said Hello Doctor!! knew who he was and answered his questions. I was flabbergasted as she had been on about a mauve box at 4am and she coud'nt get the lid on it. There is no mauve box in her room.

Still dry and quite bright here and the chickens wondered why they were let out so early!!
