Maureen what a surprise that was for you.Exciting stuff.
Frank it is called Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue. It is not far off the A1 the Stretton.
It will probably be easier for you to google it.I'm not too clever at giving directions by computer lol There were lots of squirrels scampering around .It is part of Kesteven Forest.

Nice pics you got Jane. I don't know when they do it but it would be good to see how they get up to clip them!! I think the gate at the bottom leads to Clipsham Hall which they were the driveway to once. Makes you wonder if they went all along the drive right up to the hall originally.

Jane Report 8 Oct 2010 20:11

Ann it says the trees are cut in September so I reckon most of them had just been done.Yes the Hall was in the distance.I reckon there were probably deer on that land in the old days.

Nice pictures Jane, i wonder how long it takes to clip them into shape !
Don't think i'd be any good at cutting them into shape ,they'd end up all wonky!!!

Jane

Jane Report 8 Oct 2010 21:00

Some did look slightly squiffy Mandy lol.I wonder if they just use ladders or if they have to have some kind of scaffold for the really tall ones.
I am going to bed now as I seemed to wake up nearly every hour last night.I get nights like that and I hate them.It must be my age!!!!!.
Night Night xx

Has anyone heard from Elizabeth NN ?

Maureen

Maureen Report 8 Oct 2010 21:02

Think I missed that one David. He did make a lot of 'B' movies, probably his best was Some Like It Hot.

Great photo Jane, talking of squirrels I caught one on camera which I will send, plus the latest of Alfie.

Oh Shirl.....lol I remember that from changing my baby brother years ago. Why did it always happen as soon as fresh air was felt!!! lol

Hope you are coping ok.......2 men in the house......I can't cope with one.......but I hope your son soon gains some weight and strength.

Maureen, Tony Curtis was dishy wasn't he. I used to like his voice too. David you seem a bit bloodthirsty tonight!! I remember seeing Spartacus and the Vikings.

Well I'm off to bed now. I had a frantic search of the house, car, coat pockets and handbags tonight.......for my debit card!!!! I didn't dare tel OH or there would have been rolling of eyes and sighs!!!! I had all the faff of phoning to report it etc and checking my bank account hadn't been robbed..........and then I picked my diary up from in front of the computer and it was underneath it!!!! lol My brain is finally addled I think. Night, night xx

Morning All,
Well I slept until 8 with just 2 quick wakes in the night so I feel quite refreshed now.Got out of bed at 10 just as Chris and Chester were off.
Cloudy here but not foggy.Maybe it will brighten up.
Now the big decision of the day 'What to do for dinner tonight'.I will sit and have a ponder I think .

Frank

Frank Report 9 Oct 2010 10:51

Thats an easy one Jane, get a takeaway. We do it every Saturday evening. The only day I don't have to cook.!!!!

Ros has taken the car into our "little man" who looks after the car. Oil and Filter and a general check over, do anti-freeze check Etc. about £60.00 not bad when you think what Mercedes would charge. So home alone till anout 2pm.

Nice photo's Jane, will have a looksee when we go up next time. Is there a lot of walking ????

How are all the invalids ????I'm sure both Shirl, and Mel. are looking after their poorly ones the very best they can, much better when you have them at home, you are there for anything/everything they need/want. Have done it with one parent and two in-laws. Great satisfaction. when you know you did your very best.

Overcast morning, but not cold. Might go for a walk later, NOT TO THE CANAL.

Morning,

Having trouble this morning with the site. Well I have been for the last few weeks. It wither keeps sticking or I get the internet explorer is not working. then I have to turn off all the pooter and restart it and log in again. If I leave it for a while and come back it gives me that message.

Dull here and been very windy in the night. I put some washing out when it was dark last night and it is dry this morning.

Up at 4.23 for mum and then went back to bed.

Pics were lovely Jane. They actually have a digger like machine with a big cradle on an arm that lifts you up to cut those hedges. The men are strapped to the cradle by a belt which goes round their body like rock climbers. Like they have for the street lights.

Fiona Report 9 Oct 2010 11:13

Morning Everyone,
I feel I have been away ages but I think it's just been a couple of days, I am worn out.
Before i tell you whats been going on I must say to Sheila, sorry I was unable to tell you that I was thinking and praying for you and your family on Thursday.
I will catch up and read all the posts today.

Well you all knew that Sofia has been poorly, she was still having high tempretures all last week, so instead of daughter bringing her down to my house I was going up there to baby sit.
I got a text from daughter at lunch time on Wednesday while I was having my coffee with friends " MUM CAN YOU PLEASE COME UP AS SOON AS YOU CAN, SOFIA IS STLL NOT WELL,AND I NOW HAVE BAD STOMACH PAINS , HAVE BEEN SICK ETC. so I left my friends and went and got a taxi up to daughters house,
Poor girl was exhausted with not having slept for the last few nights because of Sofia and then haveing these pains.
So I sent her back to bed and and then played with Sofia, then when she was asleep attacked the washing, dishes ect as mums do.
daughter phoned the NHS later that day and was told to take paracetomol ,
and pleanty of fluids. she is now much better, I had Sofia at my house all day yesterday and daughter got a good rest. she phoned into work to say she was not coming in and the woman said that there was a lot of people down with the same illness. so we know now where she got it from.

daughter wanted to take Sofia to her own Drs , but has to wait till Wednesday before she can get an appointment for a check up. Sofia is still wheezing and has a cough but is eating and back to her happy noisey self. so it is nice today having time to myself .

Jane Report 9 Oct 2010 11:21

Frank,to see the trees it is all on the flat,so you should be fine. The forest is to the side .I imagine it would be quite nice to amble through there on a dry day.It looks all flat ground.
I have decided dinner.I need to cook some sausages that are sitting in the fridge.I have a recipe from Sains**** for Lazy Risotto which I did the other week and it was good.So I will do that with the sausages.I may even mix them in.(Thats being very adventurous) lol

Mel my pooter is very slow this morning and everything is taking forever.
Hope your Mum manages a little food today or at least drinks.Did the nurse tell you how to look after the pressure areas?

I'm just waiting for a call from the vets to let me know if I can get more Bum Spray without prescription or needing to take Chester in.I should be able to.
Then it is down to Tes** for a few bits and pieces.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Oct 2010 11:32

Fiona,I think it is is your turn for a good rest now lol.I hope both your daughter and Sofia are better now. These viral things take so long to clear don't they, and can leave you feeling weak and wabbit for ages.

Right am now off to Tes**.

Frank Report 9 Oct 2010 12:00

Please explain what "WABBIT" is/means. never heard of it.

So sorry, Sofia and your daughter all of colour Fiona. Would you like a few words from ME ?????

Didn't go for a walk. very fine drizzle in the air, they type that soaks through, without you knowing it. Reading my book instead.

I've been having trouble with pooter also. Takes ages to warm up, and very slow to bring things up. Is it the weather.??? or just that the pooter is getting old.!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Oct 2010 13:25

Frank ,Weak and Wabbit is a Scottish phrase.I think the Wabbit means something like weary.
Just found my teatowel with scottish sayings, and Wabbit is .....exhausted/out of breath/unable to function due to extreme tiredness.

We haven't got the drizzle ,but it is damp air.Miserable !!

Afternoon all,

Cloudy here ,and not as warm as they said it would be ,hubby's outside Sandtexing his shed ,Magnolia is the colour on the shed and its not until you put fresh paint on that you realise how bad it looked, he's done one coat and he has some staining to do too,the window and the door and then he'll give the walls another coat .

Toby keeps wandering down the garden ,i can see him coming in covered in Magnolia !!!! he likes getting round the side of the shed ,its usually blocked off so he carn't get round there ,his nose goes into overdrive as i think there's a cat round there sometimes .

Oh i lied the sun's now coming out !!

Poor little Sofia ,glad she's on the mend now and mummy as well !!

We're having takeaway tonight ,sister and BIL are coming and they usually pick up the Chinese on their way here .

Poor old Chester still needing the Bum Spray !!!!!
