Just popping in to say what a super day I had with Jane, meeting her lovely OH, and Fitz. I think Chester is excited to see anyone and started fetching his toys to show me straightaway! lol Fitz is a lovely, one of a kind man, everything Jane says and more. He gave me a lovely bunch of flowers in appreciation..... what a nice thing to do.... I am going to take a photo of them as a momento of the day! He seemed delighted with all the things I had found, with plenty for him to look at and follow up. He had even got 'nibbles' for us, a table laden it was with all kinds of things and drinkies too. I had my first fresh fig and my first pickled walnut today!! He must have wondered what 'bumpkin' Jane had brought with her. lol

When I got home OH had had a good day too at his training session in Northampton and seems much clearer about what he has to do.

I have just had to clear a lot of e-mails as my box is full. It has taken absolutely ages to do it and my eyes are dry now......will catch up with the posts tomorrow........so off to bed rather late for me......no early rising tomorrow I think......night, night all.xx

Rise and Shine :)

Ann... What a lovely day... When Fitz submitted that post, I had thought 'what a nice chap' lol The flowers were a lovely gesture - obviously a gent. I like a man with good manners ..lol

Shirl... Glad your son is home with you. At least you will be able to feed him up a bit.
Those drinks on prescription sound a good idea for your mum, Mel.

Hope Sophia is ok. Don't think we have heard from Fiona for a while.

Mandy... How old is Katie ? Talking about teeth. A converstaion between the twins made me smile. Becky told Emily the reason why Mark couldn't talk. She said it's because he hasn't got any teeth and that teeth 'make' you talk lol.

Well, a mountain of washing and ironing here, so better make tracks.

Sheila.... You are all in our thoughts x

Morning Catie and All,

Not much sun today but dry at the moment.

I laughed at the twins comment about Baby Mark not being able to talk!!!!! Still giggling now.

Don't you just love these things they come out with sometimes.

It sounds like Ann and Jane had a lovely day yesterday with Fitz. I would love to meet him with all the stories we get from Jane.

Glad you both had a lovely day together.

Mum had a boiled egg yesterday and 3 small brown breaad soldiers. Well she ate the yolk and a bit of the white, about a good half in all. In the evening she had about half a strawberry with lime jelly and a little single cream and a half a small mug of hot choc before bed.

Jane Report 8 Oct 2010 10:16

Morning All
Catie,Becky is a bright little girl. That was a great reason she gave Emily as to why Mark can't talk lol.I bet they adore their little Brother.
It is quite thick fog here this morning ,but it feels so close. We are off out for lunch at Rutland later and will have a look at the Topiary while we are there at Clipsham.I just hope it is not going to stay foggy as I would like to get some photos.

Annx

Annx Report 8 Oct 2010 10:50

Morning All,

It is a bit foggy here too. Hope you enjoy your meal Jane and I think it was quite grassy around the topiary so it may be wet.....sandals may not be good! Hope you get some pics.

Catie don't they say such funny things. lol I bet they love helping with baby Mark.

Mel, it sounds as if your mum managed to eat a bit more yesterday which is good. I suppose it is a case of what will tempt her.

Frank

Frank Report 8 Oct 2010 11:20

And where are you off to in Rutland. It's not that big. Smallest in the Country.

Mel, If I was closer I would be only to pleased to help out with planting bulbs, (very experienced now !!!)

Glad you girls had a good day yesterday. Poor old Fitz, I bet he was worn out.

Catie, The children seems to me as loverly children. It's so nice how they discribe their thoughts to one and other. Big kiss for baby Mark.

Shirl, my old love, Glad you have your Son where you can look after him. Plenty of your TLC will have him on his feet in no time "GOOD OLD MUM" Give my regards to OG.
Is he showing any signs of improvement ???

Dark miserable morning here, slight rain in the air. They say it should brighten up later. I'm not doing anything today execpt read and get dinner for tonight.

See you later Alligator

Afternoon all,

Another sunny day here ,i wonder how long this lovely weather will last ,sitting here with the back door open again .

Ann, sounds as if you had a nice day with Jane and Fitz , how kind of him to get you some flowers .

Catie , Katie will be a year old the beginning of December ,she's started to roll herself about on the floor ,no sign of any crawling yet ,she just rolls where she wants to go !!
They do say some funny things i have to turn away some times as i don't like them to see me laughing at the things they come out with lol

Mel, thats good that mum has eaten a little yesterday ,its just the case of finding things to tempt her i suppose .

CatieI Report 8 Oct 2010 15:27

Mandy, I didn't realise babies rolled lol I know I crawled and my brother shuffled around on his bottom. Never seen a baby roll though.
It's been nice here too. Enjoyed a walk with Mark in the sun. Hope it's nice tomorrow as my parents are taking the girls to the zoo. My mum is already complaining about my dad. Says he's only been retired for a week and is chomping at the bit lol

Hope you enjoyed your meal Jane.

I am so full I could burst.I had to have my trousers undone all the way home in the car lol
Frank we went to the Olive Branch at Clipsham, and then had a look at The Yew Tree Topiary.Luckily the weather brightened up and it was so warm.
I am going to put the photos of the trees on the computer now and if they are ok will send you all a couple. The battery was flashing so I'm not sure how good they will be.

I have spent the last hour reading all your posts.

Such a lot going on. Frank in the wars as usual.
Shirl. hope your son is feeling better, it's not something that will go away I know, but at least you can make sure he is eating properly.

Shiela, hope all went well at Matt's funeral. At least Jessica was able to give him the funeral that he wanted and dear little April, kids are so resilient, and with all the family giving her love and attention, she will be fine.

Is Sofia okay now Fiona. I remember when one of my girls was unwell the first thing you want to do is wrap them up, apparently it was the worst thing I could have done as she then had convulsions, very scary ......

Catie, you have been thrown in at the deep end with the children but it sounds as if you are doing a great job.

Ann, how did the talk go, can you tell me anything interesting about agricultural labourers ???

Maureen

Maureen Report 8 Oct 2010 16:52

So sad about Tony Curtis, You all know how I felt about him ..... my heart throb ..... swoon, swoon ..... those sexy blue eyes. When I stayed up really late to watch one of his films, to gaze into his blue eyes, bl**dy film was in black & white !!!!!!

I was contacted, out of the blue, from someone on An***try as I had posted a 'at a brick wall' with one of my ancestors about two years ago. She not only gave me information on him but actually went back another 3 generations, so I now have agricultural labourers as far back as 1660's !!!!

Annx Report 8 Oct 2010 16:56

Big aren't they Jane......and I think it is so surprising to suddenly see a long avenue of them like that.....look forward to seeing the pics. Sounds like you had the full works.....trousers straining. lol Will see if I can e-mail you this evening.

Catie I am so with your mum......my OH finished work at the end of March. I don't know where to begin to describe how different it has been since then. lol There are pluses and minuses, but I'm not sure that zero is the middle yet. lol This morning he agreed to clean out the shredder. Five minutes later I went to put some dusters in a cupboard and he had managed to completely block any access to the cupboard with the shredder and box and there was plenty of room to put it to one side so you could walk by. We ladies would have thought that someone might need to get by!!!!! Sorry Frank.......I'm sure you are different???

Annx

Annx Report 8 Oct 2010 16:59

Maureen, the first talk is next week. I will scan and send you any handouts they give us if you like. The first one is about the Poor Law. I had to laugh at the thought of little Alfie sizing up the big cat's food and wading through their bowls to try it too!!

How fantastic you got all that info Maureen.....bet you were thrilled.....1660....amazing.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2010 17:38

That was lovely Maureen to find all that info from a long ago post!!

Was it one I was trying to find for you at one point?

Mum has'nt eaten anything today just had water and two cups of tea. she did sit in the chair for a little while but OH had to get her back in bed. she thought she may feel better if she sat up for a while but she did'nt.

SIL rang t say she did'nt feel well so she is coming over tomorrow. She is staying with OH's brother and wife in Barnstaple tonight. OH's brother brought her down and will take her back on Sunday.

Annx, I am sure Ros would agree with you and Catie's Mum.!!!! Always under her feet, and not putting things back where they belong.
I retired in the December 2003. Ros had her accident 12/12/03. I nursed her for three months, than had my stroke. So we were lumbered with each other from then on in. In Feb 2004. I took on an allotment, thinking I would be out part of the day, and she would have a bit of space. Not to be. I had to rely on her from the offset. Helping me wash, dress, feed and water me.!!!! DRIVE ME. and I don't mean MAD. which she does of course most days.

Haven't heard of that place Jane, where's it near.??? I will have to pop in there when next in Rutland.
Heard from Son today. Wheather is now great. Sunshine across the board. Went diving, yesterday, and is down under the sea now as we speak. They are 5 hours behind us.!!!

Maureen

Maureen Report 8 Oct 2010 18:25

Thanks Ann, I will look forward to that, don't really know, though can imagine, what life was like for them, bet they worked really hard.

No Mel, this is my dad's side. I want to try and trace it back myself now just to verify it and with a name like Pollendine, and birth places it shouldn't be too difficult. You must be so pre-occupied with mum at the moment, it's a good thing she lives with you, at least you can be content that you are doing everything possible for her.

Going to get my dinner now and watch Claudia on BBC2's strictly. See you later
