Evening All,

Lovely day today. I see Sheila is safely home and will sleep peacefully in her bed tonight with no strange country noises to scare her. We are just outside the city Sheila and at night we get police sirens from their HQ down the road and ambulance sirens from half a mile away in the other direction.......funny though you get used to the noises where you live.

What kind of trap is that Elizabeth? I used to go out in a governess cart with the treasurer of the local driving society. He was in his 50s then and it had belonged to his dad! I also used to restore horsedrawn vehicles with first OH so have an interest in them. The governess cart was not the most comfy I have ridden in as you sit sideways, but it was good fun and ideal for keeping the chap's puppy in as he would jump out if he got the chance. lol I hope things go well for your OH at the hospital.

David, I remember Hear my song Violetta, but had forgotten the singer. I remember from about the age of 12 liking Harry Belafonte's songs......esp Oh Island in the Sun. Glad that Ralph seems to be on the mend now......good for you keeping Sadie in business!! lol

Shirl, I think OH only has about 6 visits a year to do, visits are in pairs, but he doesn't know yet how many they interview each time, so they could be short or long. Some visits will probably be during the night too as the idea is to call at random times to see whether people in custody are being treated correctly. Heaven forbid, but anyone could be wrongly accused and held in custody for a while, even if innocent so should be treated properly. He will just be paid expenses as it is a voluntary job.

I have just booked tickets....................to go and see Andre Rieu at the LG Arena!!! I'm quite excited!! OH has become a fan too after watching him on tv.

Morning all,

Also thinking of Catie and family.

I had a message from the (lady) in Australia, who said she would love to join us Her name is Janice. so keep you eyes open, and I am sure you will give her a warm welcome. I have an Email address if anyone would like it.

Mel My old cat must be getting on, not quite sure how old. He spent two hours yesterday asleep on my neighbours sofa.!!!Now asleep on his chair.
Typical Autum day here. grass all damp, cobwebs everywhere. Have got a little money spider, pestering me to death, on my arm then glass's and face. Won't shake him off. Might be lucky !!!!!

Hi everyone, Annx, the trap we've got is a two wheel, two person (plus one dog!) facing frontwards, don't know what it's called, but not a Governess Cart. We had one of those years ago, and as you say they are not the most comfortable of vehicles, but roomier than the one we have now. We've also got the frame for a four wheeler which OH plans to restore! not sure that our poor little Exmoor will manage to pull that, particularly round here with all the hills we have got locally!! 'Merlin' went really well last night and had his photo taken a few times by onlookers!! will try and post a photo at some stage and you can see our 'super star'!!! Do hope Catie's day isn't too difficult; so very sorry to read of her loss.

Afternoon al

Thinking of Catie and family today ,especially the twins and baby Mark.

Dry and warm here today ,although there is a wind .

Ann, Winston's a good looking cat ,looks as if he has little white socks on !
I can hear the little cat next door ,he climbs on the fence and walks along and gets up on the shed roof ,he lays in the sun and Toby eyes him up but he never barks at him .

Roast Chicken for tea ,plenty of veg and stewed apple and custard for pud.

Afternoon All,

Dull and dry here. We've been skimming compacted soil off after pulling the gravel back this morning and are both about on our knees now!! Think OH is asleep flopped on the bed as there has been no sound from there for about an hour!!! When we had the pond the soil had to slope quite steeply behind it to the border at the bottom to get the pond level and the gravel on the path behind it used to build up and spill onto the border which was a nuisance, so we are evening it out to stop the problem. Keep telling OH he will have biceps to die for.......he's not convinced. lol.

Yes Mandy, Winston does have little white socks and I must say he keeps them very white for an OLD BOY. lol Chicken and garden beans and carrots for us tonight too.

Received the photos of Sofia Fiona......they are smashing .....thank you for sending them.

Fiona

Fiona Report 13 Sep 2010 13:25

Glad you got them Annx
SIL must be about 6' 4 I think seemingly his grandfather on his maternal side was a tall man, but the elderly lady in the photo's who is his grandmother is really small.

Annx Report 13 Sep 2010 13:35

Yes Elizabeth, please send a piccie. I love Exmoor ponies. As a child there was one that came to the stables I went to for a while. He was called Charlie and was a short term livery, but some of us were allowed to ride him. He had the Exmoor mealy nose and around his eyes and he went like a bomb!! My friend with the governess cart had a 4 wheeler that I painted the wheels for. He used it a lot for weddings and pulled it with a 13.2hh welsh pony. I'll pm you my e-mail address and send you a pic of it. I suppose it depends how heavy the vehicle is and as you say, how steep the hills are.....might have to get out and walk up/down them. lol

Jane I hate dealing with settees and doorways......and OH. There is usually some cussing and a trapped finger I find. Good luck!!!

Fiona

Fiona Report 13 Sep 2010 13:43

Annx ,
my OH is about average height 5'8 , daughter no 1 takes after her dad and daughter no 2 is a bit smaller and me , well I am at the end 4'11, no one see's me in a crowd and I can't see over anyones heads. which is handy when you want to make a quick exit lol.

Sofia is walking with confidence inside but still is wobbly outside.

Annx

Annx Report 13 Sep 2010 13:49

My OH is about the same height as yours Fiona and I am 5ft one and a half. I hate it when sitting behind someone tall at the theatre....can't see a thing.....and don't start me on the top shelves at supermarkets!!! You must be the same.

Well I'd better go and wake OH.........going to the cinema this afternoon to see a film called Tamara ???? something. BBL

Hello Shirl got your lovely verse and photo will send you some photoes having trouble with aol it keeps going off.
When it is back and running will send them. You do help me you know your a caring lady and funny that makes you special in my eyes. xx Oh those birds amagine climbing a mountain and being attacked by those. Poor Matt suffered from a landslide can amagine he would not be too happy to come across those birds.

Mel glad you liked Rashers you will see why I could not eat
him even if I was hungry.
Jasper is not happy he misses Woof and just not running around the large area, Now he is asleep looking bored with me. I do have photoes of the goat and sheep but not developed yet. Mel hope your mum is ok today .About Catie I hope everything goes to plan it is very sad .First thing I thought about this morning.. I still do not know what she looks like though lost my picture from Jane .Shell said it was big and she was lying down. But apart from some very nice pictures Ann sent I seemed to have lost most things but print all my pictures off and they are in a book even if I do not know the person. I get a lot of pictures from all over the world but mostly from fellow crafters and gifts I received a lovely painting from a lady in France it must have cost a lot to send it to me of a basque lady also she sent me not along ago some drawings of Mon Michel she did they were very impressive.
I was not amused when a man from Peru who lives in Manchester sent me a shruken head picture saying it was some distant relative it was horrible. He had drawn it in pen and ink and it was creepy. I sent him a photo of my husband I painted haha no comment about a shruken head there. I found some very nice flowers in my hanging basket I thought oh nice Ho s planted flowers PLASTIC
every single one. He did not want to throw them away I had put them out for the dustman .

I have decided to get myself a dictionary and a book how to write english if I am to stay on here. Michelle was reading some of my messages being nosy to see what and who I wrote and said mum jasper is licking woofs parts and Matt is laid back what is he a chicken.

Well I meant layed back and Jasper was licking part of Woofs teddy Eugene Woof sleeps with it apparently all my messages were rubbish she said . I have made up my mind to improve my diction and spelling. I also write on the web to a lady in Birmingham Edie you should get her on here she comes on and says How am ya duck and I am gooing now cocka I thought she had come from outer space or somewhere .I went to the charity shop our Sophia won a cake competition the paper is coming to take her photo tomorrow morning more about that later will send the photo the cake its really beautiful thats me and Sophia won a comp in the paper .it is very lovely only the cake but polish looking. Michelle said what am I going to say to Joan Collins when I meet her I said knowing me I will clam up and go bright red. well shes just a person under all that make up isnt she. I am more worried about what I shall wear I have not bought a piece of clothing for twelve months I slept like a top last night in bed about 11am after watching a lovely programme about Vera Lynn what a ordinary lovely lady she is. Billy Cotton band leader sacked her he said she was too young and ordinary to sing in his band but Ambrose and his orchestra took her and she never looked back but she had to have speech lessons to go on the radio. I am off to take a lady some tonic wine I did not know they still did it. My mum used to drink it years ago.I have to find her house it is somewhere at the back of Birmingham near spegetti junction that should be fun. I thought they had knocked that down knocked just about everything else down here.
