Isn't there an odour free paint out now ? I don't mind the smell. Daughter and I were stripping the varnish off a table once, never taken drugs but imagine it has the same effect !!!! We were both a bit high !!! lol

There is an odour free paint Maureen. My OH's parents have used it because the smell of paint makes OH's mum have asthma.

Would you like to go back to Devon Jane?

Off to bed now, started a new book, not too sure about it Half of a Yellow Sun, it's set in Nigeria, finding it hard to get my head around the African names.

I love Devon now Catie ,but couldn't wait to get away from it when I was younger lol.No I wouldn't live back there now .I think it's too far away from the rest of the country (if you get my drift).I miss the sea terribly ,as I lived just a few minutes walk from it.I loved the Moor too.I now live right in the middle of the blooming country!!.Not my favourite place.I still call Plymouth home.I love to visit, and who knows maybe one day may even have a holiday back there. It is a shame though that I now have no family left there.

Just come on to say goodnight had a shower and washed my hair , now the room so warm after using the hair dryer had to put the fan on.
Off to bed as I want a goodnight sleep, SIL dropping daughter no1 & Sofia off tomorrow at 7.30 on his way to work. daughter no 1 got a interview at a job agency in Glasgow in the afternoon, so I am babysitting, daughter no 1 thought it a good oportunity to get a lift down instead of me having to go to her house later on or she having to struggle with baby & Buggy on the buses.

Off to put out dustbin and lock up
night night all

Morning all,

Dull and rainy again today.

Maureen love the pic of the two together. It is funny how Coco seems to know that Alfie needs a little loving. when I had my two cats (brother and sister) the little queen Puss Wuss had kittens and I kept the little one who had bright beetroot pink paws, He was always a bit wobbly on his paws and when he was young his mum got run over. Pud Wood took over and they would sit or lay together and Pud Wood would wash all round Dizzy's ears and the top of his head. They were great friends and of course Pud Wood was his uncle. He was ginger and white and Dizzy was white with tabby markings same as his mum.

Morning Everyone,

Washings out so I hope the rain doesn't reach here for a couple more hours. OH is still in bed as he had a sleepless night with bouts of toothache. His dentist didn't even tell him about aftercare, salt rinses, painkillers etc whereas mine at the same practice told me and gave me a leaflet. If it doesn't settle down by later today I'll ring them as he may need antibiotics or to go to hospital to get the root bit out now rather than have to wait for an appointment.

I've just booked to go to a FH day at the local records office. They say it will be useful even if your rellies lived outside their area which mine do. I just want to find out all about the kinds of material they hold that could be useful to me. I find it very bewildering at Stafford Record Office, shelves of drab volumes with no labels on the shelves and not much idea what some of them might contain that could be useful.

The kitty is right at home now isn't he Maureen.

I love Cornwall and Devon, but I know what Jane means about being 'in the middle' of the country. lol We can reach a lot of places within 2 and a half hours from here.

Maureen Report 25 Aug 2010 14:30

Very quiet on here today. My favourite haunt is Dorset, maybe because that's where we always went for our summer holiday when I was a child.

Alfie is becoming an expensive rescue, took him to the vets this morning £105, he has a skin infection, so needed two injections, antibiotics and a cream plus the consultation. I hope this is not just the beginning. Still as old Magnus Magnusson used to say "I've started, so I'll finish".

Was lovely and sunny this morning now it's rain, rain, rain.

Where is everyone today ?

Frank

Frank Report 25 Aug 2010 14:48

I'm here !!!!
Not long back from B'Ham. picked up the rain on A38/M6. so didn't stop to look around anywhere.Persistant rain here now. !!!!

Ros has to wait for appointment to go to Harley Street. Things are not quite right, so it might mean another operation to put things right. No worries, it's only cosmetic, not life threatening. !!!!!

Jane I didn't know you hailed from Cornwall. "Proper Job"
I knew you were from Scotland. All the rable seem to turn up in Northants. LOL Look I'm here as well

Jane

Jane Report 25 Aug 2010 15:18

Frank,I hope Ros doesn't have to wait too long for her appointment. As you say at least it is not serious.
I grew up in Devon in Plymouth ,not Cornwall. But I was born in Scotland .Are calling me Rabble??? Naughty Naughty lol.I know you are !!!!!

Maureen ,are you going to insure Alfie?.If he is going to possibly have problems it will be worth it.I hope his skin clears soon, poor little mite.

Hi Catiel I have just left Beryl we went for lunch in a pub in the country and then back to her house. Bernie her lodger was there and Beryl got the mop out to clean her floor and he said "Hey dont you come near me with that mop after nearly breaking my ribs poking me in the bath. Beryl said Well its your own fault for slumping in the bath asleep like a constipated duck. I laughed so much I gave myself hic cups. Later the lady next door popped in and Beryl was putting on some airs trying to be posh.Introduced Bernie as Bernard and Donnie as Donald . Then she gave this lady tea in a cup which she said was from a French teaset and shes only got one cup. I hate to think what she would have done had this lady asked to see the rest of it.
That fur coat of hers was her aunts it years old and smothers her and her hat is like a big floppy knitted hat . Beryl is always cold because she is so thin. The bikini under her fur coat that made me laugh Beryl does not have the legs for a bikini .
if you covered those legs up she does not look bad in it. I will try the onions "what do I do just cut them up and put them in water or what I dont eat them !!!!! I think sometimes Catie it is nice to get what you like and blow the cost and enjoy your new curtains.

I cannot get over thinking that picture Mel sent me was Ann and her husband I looked today and could see it was not a man. I saw a pepper pot in a shop it was Clarence Cliff and they wanted £22 for it. Beryl and I went in the shop to look round and I said why is that pepper pot so expensive the lady said well Clarence Cliff did not do many.We saw a very nice thimble Beryl liked she collects them. I think shes got 400 from all over the world. Everywhere you look in her house thimbles. Where is Buckstead Abbey is that Devon because I went to that place years ago I have a yellow teapot with blue spots all over it from there one time collecting tea pots but got rid of all of them except that one it is cute theres a tiny mouse sat on the handle.

You're right Shirl, pets pills and potions cost nearly four times ours. I bought some cat toothpaste once on the vets recommendation, cost nearly £7 !!!!!! didn't buy it again. They don't tell you how much it's going to cost until you get to the reception and they print off a long list ...!!!

No insurance will take him with all his problems Jane, just have to keep fingers crossed he won't need anymore special treatment.

Harley Street Frank, sounds like Ros is getting the best treatment. How is your mum today Mel?

Sounds like Beryl is on good form Sheila, if I ever go to the Bull Ring Birmingham and see a woman in a massive fur coat I will go up and say "You're Beryl aren't you" can't be another like her ....lol

Frank

Frank Report 25 Aug 2010 16:17

I see "Beryl the Peril" is playing up again. Do you remember her from the Beno/Dandy. ???? Are you looking for a FIGHT Shirl, You know what us Londoners are. Just like you Scots. !!!! That reminds me Did you see the Bagpipe player, who was famous for playing as the troops landed, has died.??? He must have been a good age.
Maureen, Your poor little cat. Have you thought of going to the RSPCA. I think you can get animals treated, and you make a donation, it's worth a phone call, to find out. And if you are an OAP I think you get it for free. !!!!! Not sure of your age, I bet i'm in for it now !!!!

Hi Sheila....... Never a dull moment with Beryl lol and she comes out with some funny quips doesn't she lol
I just peel the onions, cut them in half and then place on a saucer. One wouldn't be enough - but I've found that 2or 3 does help with absorption of those smells. My OH is painting at the moment.and so I've got a few strategically placed lol
My mum collects thimbles Sheila .... some of the silver ones are beautifully engraved - very delicate.

Jane.... I know what you mean about Devon. Sometimes I get very tempted by holiday destinations - practicalities of living there are another matter though.

We had a real gust of wind yesterday afternoon which took two six ft panels down. My OH has managed to put them back up today, but the wood has become warped and so it was a heck of a job. Boy was he cursing.
