How is Ralph David?Improving each day I hope.
I need to go and pick some beans, but I think I will wait until later and hope the rain passes over.I will need my wellies as I have to climb over the rabbit proof fence onto all the wet earth.I will probably sink lol
I don't think Wicksteed Park will have too many visitors today!!.
Frank ,we are so lucky living in GB not to get the devastating weather that other countries are experiencing at the moment.I 'can't bare to watch the news, seeing all those poor people who have lost everything and are suffering so badly.

David you are in full tune strangers in the night love the scooby dooby doo. I think me and hubby are strangers in the night just lately. my night feast was very disapointing a marmalade and peanut butter sandwich and a yogurt . I did not have any dinner. I remember when 12 years old Beryl and I came downstairs and we devoured all my mums trifel for Sunday tea.Made out of swiss rolls she could not make anymore because we eat the other two packets of swiss rolls as well We got a tray and put it on and carried it upstairs going passed my mums room Beryl got the giggles and fell against mums bedroom door and
we rushed into my bedroom and the one dish of trifel fell of the tray and went crashing on the floor. Mum came in the room and slipped on some she went beserk and ordered
Beryl out the house and I was banned from seing her for a
week Poor Beryl got blamed for everything.bless her.

Afternoon All,

What a wet day it is too. Yes the footie starts in ernest today. OH will be on Radio Leicester this afternoon doing the commentating on the Hinckley United v Alfreton match. Sooner him than me on a wet day like this!

Well I'm back and whacked as you say!! lol Things didn't start well on the day, when MIL told us one of her cousins and his wife had arrived in the morning to drop their present off......... and then go home! They had come down from Lincoln the day before so they could visit other folk too. On the way down the cousin was taken ill and they had to stop. They carried on but had to stop again at some services and he was very ill again. He looked so dreadful and was in such a state, the services people called an ambulance and he was whisked off to hospital where they kept him in for 5 hours, concerned they couldn't get his blood pressure up. His wife doesn't drive so it must have been very worrying for them. Anyway, he still felt dreadful the following day and decided to go home and that he would be able to drive the car back.

The rest of the day went very well. OH had put a banner and balloons up outside and the article on them in the paper was very good and they were thrilled with the telegram from the queen. MIL was married at age 16 the day before she was 17 and FIL was 29. People said it wouldn't last!!!! OH said a few words which they seemed very touched by and they were quite emotional when they opened our presents which is not like them at all.....stiff upper lip types!! It was like being in a florists shop by late afternoon. Chairs were shoehorned into the front room and still nowhere for me and OH to sit for about 5 hours. MIL had said people would come and go during the afternoon, but they came and stayed. lol The food and wine went down very well with not too much left which was good. I swear MIL and FIL were a bit squiffy. lol One neighbour's child was there, 11 year old Joel and he was as good as gold, chatting to folk and no complaining or trouble at all.....a credit to his parents. I would have been bored out of my skull at his age!! After everyone went we cleared up and OH and FIL had the legs off the table to move it back. I shot off then as MIL's stairs are too steep for my knees and the only loo is in the bathroom!! 7 hours is a long time!!! lol

Yesterday we were up and back to their house, about 15 miles away to take them out for a carvery lunch as it was MIL's birthday. Back to normal again now and I can get back into the garden.

Jane Report 14 Aug 2010 14:45

Hi Ann,I'm so pleased for you that it all went well. How awful for the poor cousin to be taken ill like that.Maybe you can now set yourself up as a caterer for parties lol
We have just had a huge downpour with hail.I just got back up the garden in time !!It was like a cloud burst.

Sheila was that a marmalade sandwich and a peanut butter one or was it a mixed one??If it was mixed it sounds gross.Hope your roof is sorted soon. Then you will be all snug again.

OH is in the garage sorting stuff. He keeps coming in with things ,saying look at this,do you remember that. The latest thing was a small towel. He said Do you think something has been eating this??It was shredded and full of mouse poo lol

Hannah has a date this evening.I'm so pleased .She probably won't tell me much though .Not that I'm being nosey !!!!!!.
She has an interview in London on Friday and another one on the 24th at Ley Hill Prison.

This is another computer about to meet its maker in the big computer land in the sky. Will have to get a new one, am just waiting for one of the son-i-l's to help me, don't want to lose everything I have on here.

Had an eventful day yesterday, son's partner's daughter (doesn't it get complicated these days !!) came home with a tiny kitten she had found in the grass by their flats, thought it might have fallen out of a window was only about 4 weeks old. Poor little thing was shaking, and its nose was bleeding. After asking, nobody claimed the little mite so I went over to take them to the vets. The prognosis wasn't good, the vet didn't think the kitten would last the night. she said it had cat flu and a cleft pallet (that's why it was bleeding). She advised putting it down, I looked at my d-i-l and she looked at me .... what should we do ..... we both wanted to give the kitten a chance. The vet then said she could put it on a drip overnight, which would cost £200 ..... which obviously we couldn't pay, she then said she would give it anti-biotics and see how he went but it probably wouldn't survive anyway. What a little fighter, he survived the night and we went to pick him up this morning. He was sitting up and looking around him although still very shell shocked. A happily ever after ending. Now we will all be fighting over who keeps him !!!!

Annx Report 14 Aug 2010 15:13

Lol Jane......afterwards FIL wrapped the tablecloth carefully saying he would save it for his 90th birthday next year..........he was serious too........no way, I thought!!!

I'm glad Hannah and the 'house' will be parting company. It must be a bit depressing having the millstone of it around her neck. I would feel like skipping around the garden when its gone!! lol It's good that she is finding more job opportunites. When I visited a prison at work I hated the way they kept locking doors behind me!! I thought they might not let me out!! lol

Annx

Annx Report 14 Aug 2010 15:18

Aaahh Maureen.......the poor little kitty.....how nice to see him picking up..... must be a tough little character. What colour?

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Aug 2010 15:44

He's a ginger cat Mandy ....I've always wanted a ginger cat !!!! but have said if nobody else claims him I will have him. I think I'm probably third or fourth in line so not much chance.

ANN what were you doing in prison????????

Jane

Jane Report 14 Aug 2010 15:45

Jane

Jane Report 14 Aug 2010 15:49

I had a beautiful Ginger Tom that I found. He was sooo skinny !.I gave him some milk and legged it to the corner shop for some cat food.He never left lol
I called him Jerry. He used to sit up and beg like a dog..
You should see it here now,it is torrential !!

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Aug 2010 16:06

We have had rain rain rain on and off for days. Think the only good day was last Sunday.

I'm sure one of my cats thinks she's a dog. It's really funny to watch, she will sit and look at her tail, then when it starts to move she chases it round and round trying to catch it, as if it wasn't attached to her, I've seen dogs do that.

Jane

Jane Report 14 Aug 2010 16:13

My ginger cat used to get in the bath and wee down the plughole!!!!!.He aimed perfectly too lol

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Aug 2010 16:27

You know how cow's pee, stand and lift their tails up, or is it horses, anyway, that's how my cat pees, caught her doing it aiming straight at my herb pot, haven't used any of the herbs since.

It has come over really dark, think the heavens are about to open.

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Aug 2010 16:36

Sorry Ann, don't know why I called you Mandy, might be heading for the scrapheat myself !!! lol

Jane

Jane Report 14 Aug 2010 16:36
