My brother alerted me to the site when family names started to be listed on Genes Connected, and became a paid member on 14 feb 2003.

joined in my REAL full name at first but modified that to just Bob-- something or other,
Bob in Bretton
Bob Camera dodger
and have been Bob ( with GPS address for some years now......)
Always with my member number showing.

I've been a 'free' member since 2002, then when I became a financial member in 2004, took a new name and was given a new number. Only started using Community boards in December 2008 and only ever known on here as Berona. Do I qualify?

Have just checked and I joined in 2003, but didn't post till 2007.

I don't think I even looked at the boards until then, and the first one I followed was when a lot of members got involved in looking for details of a child after a member found a grave (think I remember the details correctly).
I was going to change Lyndi to my real name Lynda - but there are a few others on the boards so will stay as i am.
I finished work a few weeks ago so now have more time to follow the board--------- and do my tree!!.

I joined back in June 2003 and it feels like much longer than that.

In those days (the OLD days) it was Genes Connected and when I eventually found the boards they were quite different from these ones. You had to make a note of the number that shows in that white bar at the top of your screen and then type the number into the end of whatever thread you were in to go back to the one you wanted. Confused? Yes, I was too for a while!

Ahhhh thank you Joy, that explains it then. It's under the friendly alias bit and all the other things I tried must either have had a space or been taken.

Apparently I joined 14 Oct 2003, so not quite as 'old' a member as some others, but still old. And I am 74 yrs old. I started off as my maiden name (I think) of Huia Bettany but think I have since used Old Crow but prefer to keep the name Huia in my board name so people know who I am.

My hubby used to refer to me as The Old Crow because Huia is a Maori name for a bird, an extint member of the wattled crow family. I was born and bred in New Zealand but my gt grandparents all came from England.

Click on Community at the top of the screen, then Board summary, then scroll right the way down to where you can put another name above "Hide your real name and show a friendly alias when posting to the community boards" - it won't accept spaces between words or names there but you could be ChrissieSmiff :-)

I joined in February 2003 and was always known as Chrissie Smiff. When the site changed I tried to keep it as my board name but it said that it wasn't an acceptable name:)) I tried every variation of Chrissie but they had all been taken. I got so cross that I even tried 'what can I be then', but it wouldn't let me be that. So you can see the boring name I was left with :))
p.s. I don't do much apart from genealogy these days.

Been here since Feb 2006 and offen sent a way for a day or 2 :)))) lol
