Ok, got you something orange,
in your garden will look nice,
a splash of colour on grey days,
it will be there in a trice,
I had to get a move on,
blue lights are after me......
I think they may well want it back.....
I nicked you a cone, you see !!
oooooooooh ! nee nah...nee nah !!

haaa a lovely orange cone
was it sitting there all alone?
put your foot down beat the fuzz
hurry up down here to sup with us
we'll plant the cone and water it well
if it multiplies , some we'll sell

I like to read about your gardens.
I have snowdrops too.
My daffodills are barely showing
Or I'd pick a bunch for you.

The garden centres are full of plants
Packs of Spring delights
but I don't think they would survive
our frosty, chilly nights!

Maggie, save your money.
Don't buy spring plants just yet.
Wait a while, don't risk it
There may be more snow yet!!!

Now, did you say, you've baked a cake?
And you've invited us to tea.
I'll get my coat, bring a bottle.
Now, save some cake for me!!

Hmm, bright orange suits my garden
and made of plastic, it won't die
The 'cone flower' now sits beside the pond
and if more snow falls from the sky
It will withstand the freeze
and I'll tell you something more

I'm off out up the motorway
Think I'll collect some more !

ooo ,I booked a holiday today
Well, two, what am I like?
Scotland first ,in a caravan
Then Ireland, off for a hike...

...to see the sites of Waterford
has anyone here been?
It is another 'first 'for us
Only Galway we have seen

Well, it soothes the soul
and gladdens the heart
having something to look forward to
Have to sort out my wardrobe now
Don't think I'll need shorts, do you?

sounds lovely Maggie, but I confess
I`ve not been to Ireland...yet !
despite it being the Ancestral Isle
it`s somewhere I`ve yet to get !

My Gr Parents and my Auntie
hailed from Dublin it`s true,
but came over here to live
before my Mum was due.

But somewhere I lost my Gr Dad,
no records or trace to find.
he died before my Mum was born
was it the war, who knows, it`s like I`m blind.

Tina, sorry about your grandad
Irish records are hard to do
For the last 6 months I have been
looking for someone too

OH cousins birth mother
came from Co Clare
I have come to a standstill now
although I still care

I guess that some rellies
will be hard to find
So I am like you I reckon
Just a little blind

All enjoy your weekend
The sun is going to shine
and as it is a Friday night
Going to open a bottle of wine..lol

We went to Ireland long ago.
For our honeymoon!
Beautiful scenery as I recall.
Will you be going soon?

And Maggie's going to Scotland
I love those Highland views
It does seem so far away
or else I would come with you!

Hi Chrispy,
Scotland a long journey for me
at least a 15 hour day
Up at the crack of dawn
with stops along the way

Breakfast in Gretna Green
Lunch maybe on Loch Ness
But the final destination
has to be the best

An eerie mist over the loch
with deer ambling by
Eagles flying overhead
These are the reasons why

The Highlands are a magical place
I will always go each year
Not keen on the whisky tho'
I'd rather have a beer...lol

Maggie x

oops OH said it was Loch Lomond, not Loch Ness, slap hand.lol

LOl !! Maggie, tell OH Loch Ness is best
as Lomond won`t rhyme with the rest !!

A 15 hour day!
Travelling by car.
Oh Maggie, I really think
that is much too far!!

My OH drives too fast for me
I'd like to slow the pace.
I'd like to enjoy the ride
It's not a competitive race!

So I don't like long journeys.
Motorways are a nightmare
I like to travel less and less.
I might end up going nowhere!!

*.*mag*nolia*.* Report 15 Mar 2010 16:29

I promise it is worth it
when you leave the motorway
Few traffic lights or roundabouts
No 'artics' in the way !

A whole new world just opens
and I leave my cares behind
Scotland is a therapy
where I totally unwind

The weekend was eventful
Sons birthday and Mothers Day
So a double celebration
at daughters for the day

My kids live 50 miles apart
so how bizzare is this?
Their Mothers Day cards were identical !
I said they both had good taste
and gave them both a kiss..lol

i thought it had gone or it was dead
so now i have come to ressurect
with a little of my intellect

where are you all when i want to talk
i think you must have gone for a walk
so when you come back to this little thread
i almost certainly will be in my bed

i bid you goodnight and God bless all
my poetic friends short and tall

and lots of lovely poetic scenes

Hi there Stella,
We are still here
Writing our rhymes
Sharing a beer!!

Visited my mum today.
Gave her a Mothers day card
She doesn't know who I am.
This is very hard!

Couldn't visit on Mothers day.
The Home was closed they said.
All the old people
Were very sick in bed.

We had a late Mothers Day.
It may seem strange to you
But mum doesn't know what day it is
So what could I do?

Now I won't write any more lines
On this sad affair
Sometimes I just 'let off steam'
Knowing that you care!

Lovely people!
X

Good morning Stella, now don't do too much
Even tho' you have that 'green fingered' touch
Put your feet up and have some tea
and write a piece of poetry..lol

Chrispy, how sad for you and your mum
an awful position for anyone
So you let off steam anytime on here
We will all lend a friendly ear...

This weekend we celebrate St Patricks Day
(It's hard to do do in the week)
OH is so proud of his Irish roots
The Guiness is lined up as I 'speak' !

hello all, been reading your news,
the highs & lows of your days,
I`m always glad to know you`re there,
but I`ve done nothing to amaze.

Mothers Day, was very nice,
I spent a pleasant afternoon,
at Gr daughters, with my daughter too,
Grt Gr daughter as well, & it passed too soon.

but earlier I paid a call,
flowers for Mum I`d bought,
her favourites , I put them in a vase,
made the grave look nice, I thought.

There were so many pretty flowers
being laid down there that day.
which cheered me as I know full well
we remember our Mum, come what may.

What a lovely day today.
The garden was bathed in sun
I enjoyed admiring my daffodils
But saw lots of jobs to be done!

There are still old leaves in corners
And flower tubs that are past their best
Lots of seeds waiting to be sown
No time for a rest!

**chrispy**

**chrispy** Report 22 Mar 2010 22:53

Planted some daffodils
And tulips too.
And some muscari,
I love their deepest blue.

Bought them in pots
From a garden centre near
Filled shady spots in my garden
With some instant Spring cheer!

i havent got much gardening done
although there has been some sun
i am soft and have stayed in side
i like to be by the fireside
maybe tomorrow i will venture out
to pull the weeds that are about
i am good at growing weeds
not so good at raising seeds
my fingers are not very green
but in the garden i am sometimes seen
fishing in the pond!
