Hello sarah, i live in shropshire too, thanks for adding , the car thing sounds like a trapped nerve but the other pain since a teen really needs sorting out, doctors will try every other reason apart from what it is in my experience im really lucky my gp is also a specialist in rheumatolegy and after trying every type of pain killer that didnt work she sent me to see a consultant who after 10 yrs diagnosed with fibro, now reconised as a autoimune illness like os, ra, ms, etc. Sarah can you see a differnt doctor or asked to be refered, i would type your symptoms in on line take it with a pinch of salt but you may have an idea or if you want me to do i wil just send me a private message if you want, fibro can be more disabling than the autoimune disorders confirmed from blood test, which is a raised inflamartory marker, although fibro dosent have this marker, i also have ms now so i dont know which pain ache is what now, ive spent times on scooters wheel chairs etc im now walking but get a lot of double vision im sure that makes my spelling twice as bad, i really hope you get some thing sorted too love lorraine xx

Hi Pusser cat its star here lovely to see you again. Hope you dont mind me asking my OA has over the last 6 mnths got worse(like a few i have a high pain threshold hence why i left it so long) last week i went to the drs and she gave several tablets to try so my question is one of them was amytiptiline 25-50mg at night i decided to try that one first as unfortunately no matter what i can have it might effect my asthma. After 3 nights i found my self ketting palptitions and it would initially make me sleepy but after a couple of hours i woke up and just couldnt go back luckily it was school hols. Does this sound like a normal reaction. I must admit i did stop then and am now trying naproxen twice a day its helping the pain in my hands and knees but not totally the pain in my toes. I no i probably should have given amytriptiline more time but i am working full time as a teaching assistant and knew i probably wouldnt cope with restless nights and i cant give up work/reduce my hours just yet.
Also where is the best place to look for a memory foam matress as Tony has now got back/shoulder problems so would benefit us both.
Say hi to Speckly luv to you both

Hello Thank you for sharing your pain experiences, whilst not in pain to the degree that some of you are I can so relate to the different kinds of pain. I find that I can cope with some pain to a level that almost seems unbelievable but other pain can easily reduce me to a wreck.
I've suffered joint pain on and off since my teens when I was told it was either growing pains or just one of those things. More recently my doctor has helpfully been ready to put everything down to my mental health issues, depression and anxiety, to the point at which I am reluctant to go back and raise the issue again.
Currently I am having problems with my back, neck and shoulders. It started about a month ago with a sudden stabbing pain in my shoulder and since then has been happening at irregular intervals. I actually thought that the worst of it was over until the other day when walking out to the car I felt that same stabbing pain in my back. Add to that I've been feeling really dizzy today and I think that it's the doctors for me tomorrow.
Have to say that it does worry me because my maternal gran suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and my mum is fighting to have her symptoms diagnosed, her blood tests say she doesn't have it the symptoms say she does. And My dad is currently undergoing tests to find out what's wrong with him having started with similar symptoms to his mum which include neck/shoulder pain, although I can't recall exactly what she suffers from. Probably just as well because if I could remember I'd probably only scare myself by googling it.

Patricia, you must be so glad you tried the chiropractor. I do hope you can continue with the state you are in now, and not deteriorate again too badly.
I was given amitriptyline but it didn't help with better sleep which was what it was for so I gave up on it. Had citalopram for the ocd but it didn't work either so not on any antidepressants now.
I get uncomfy wearing a bra so go without round the house, whenever I can. I definitely find I have more discomfort on my left side than my right, all different parts on the left have pain and feel sore, whether my ribs, under that arm, my arm, my b*mcheek as well lol My right shoulder plays up as I have calcific tendonitis in there so often so painful it makes me feel sick.
It's no fun falling apart like this and I wish I could go back to the time when I had loads of energy and could go on for hours without pain or discomfort.

Hi,
I'm 63 and live in New Zealand - born in England. I have suffered chronic pain in my lower back, legs and feet for many years. When I was 18 I fell from top to bottom of the stairs on my back and have suffered on and off since then.
2 years ago my eldest son was advised to visit a chiropractor after he broke his collar bone and was in a lot of pain. The chiropractor xrayed him and told him his body was twisted out of shape! After a few manipulations, he began to feel good and in a few months was free from pain and his body was gradually straightening out.
Last year my pains had got to the point where I could hardly move - even lifting my head off the pillow was agony - my legs and feet were getting numb. I was full of pain killers.
My son paid for me to have a session with the chiropractor. He showed me my xray and I was terribly out of alignment, one shoulder was at least 3 inches lower than the other!
Although it cost me about £12 each manipulation for 12 weeks, within that time the tingling stopped and I was free of pain. I stopped all pain killers, rubbing creams etc. and haven't had any since. My shoulder is now about 1 inch lower than the other.
Unfortunately it's an ongoing thing, possibly for life, and I may need treatment every 6 months or so, but it was the best thing I ever did.

Hope everyone had a good rest i went to bed 7pm last night after falling asleep at 630 , i told natters to wake me for the soaps i slept till 8am then had doc appointment at 9, she has increased amytriptilene to 100mg a day 50 morn 50 night so i may not be on much untill my body gets used to that , i see the neuroligist mar 8th so not long to wait till he advises which one he wants me on. hiya jean i made specky acyually realise he may have terrible back pain but he dosent have 2 chronic active illnesses , not that i dismas his pain at all but physicall he can do more than i can in the home. juliaanne, have you told your doc about this around your ribs and back is it a tight very hot burning pain and do you feel fatiqued with it ? xx dizy sorry to hear you suffer so much chat is parkins disease in our terms? Our doc is brill and you always have to wait weeks to see her but she wont stop till she gets to the bottom of your pain so we are very lucky, specky would still be working if it wasnt for her telling him he would be doing so much more damage to his stenosis of the spine, back later the mother is coming lol xx

My lumbar vertebrae are affected by osteoporosis. I get a little pain in my hips if I walk too much, but housework can be a real pain in the back! Now OH has started getting severe pain in his hip, but mention of bursitis makes me wonder, he does get arthritis in hs hands. Both of us tend to look a bit curved forward these days. Exersises and pain relief are all that are offered.
