If the questions are illegal then why hasnt someone reported them to whoever you report them to and had the site shut down?

I do wish I had had more than a short eddication to be able to understand all these things you are all talking about but I read and try to learn I hope.

But Politics just seem to be an insurmountable electrode for my brain to accept.
Maybe rewiring of the grey cells would help.....

I watched the programme about Mo Mowlam and her doctor said her brain tumor affected the part of the brain that controls your feelings and emotions

so if she hadn't have had the brain tumor would she have been so influential in Northern Ireland as her personality would have been different? makes you wonder eh.

As for bankrupting the country, I dont entirely agree with that, It was a global recession, the american banks went 1st and we followed. I think the problem is the regulisation of banks in this country and the USA. They can basically do what the hell they like and know the government will bail them out.

I'm a socialist and a member of the socialist workers party. But have to vote for NEW!!! laughable labour as we have no members standing where I live (affluent South Hampshire ) for some maybe but not all. The labour party have done some good , minimum wage, new working time directives , Northern Ireland ( Mo Molam did all the hard work Tony took all the credit ) but they are moving ever closer to the right, to close for my liking.



In the last 7 years since i moved to my present house I have never met standing member of any the parties who want my vote.

When I saw one standing outside the polling station ( kissing babies and all that c**p) I asked why the don't door knock anymore and meet their potential electors, " oh that old politics we don't do that any more "

They don't get we want old politics where you actually knew something about candidate

AuntySherlock. The main problem with local government is central government. Not only do they collectively ignore local needs in policy-making, but over the years everything has become centralised anyway. Apparently less administration that way (haha yeah right).

DET Thinking about what you wrote about voting for politicians who can improve the lives of their constituents.

Is that not how politics used to be. Locally elected, to sit in parliament to do the best for that person's electorate. And how greatly everything has changed in our lifetimes. The information technology revolution has brought the problems of the whole world to our doorsteps.

Issues that were once the problem of communities on the other side of the planet are now instant knowledge to the vast majority of the world's population.

And often local issues are overwhelmed by global ones, and whose to say whether what is a local issue might not become a global concern.

Well Teresa.......all it needed was a 'women' to bang their heads together!

Completely agree there Ginny, an inspiration to all aspiring politicians I would think.

And who knows if the Good Friday agreement will have been reached without her making everyone see the sense in proper dialogue.

Came from nothing and worked her butt off.

She was a key figure in the Good Friday aggreement

And through it all, she was very ill with a brain tumour, but still went to visit and talk with convicted Irish paramilitaries face-to-face in the Maze, Belfast.

She died in 2005.....only the good die young and all that

PS the Plaid Cymru MP where I used to live was really good locally.

After reading his Obituary in the Guardian archives, I don’t necessarily agree with his National policies, but at a Constituency level, once he returned to the Back Benches, Robert (Bob) John Dunn, politician, born July 14 1946; died April 24 2003 was an excellent MP.

When it comes to voting in Elections, I’m sure that many will vote for not only the Party, but also the person who offers to improve their own personal circumstances, rather than limit their decision to the National or World Wide issues.

We have an independent senator here Nick Xenephon. He was in State parliament, campaigned for Federal parliament and to the astonishment of many became the first independant to be elected to the Legislative Council in 60 years.

I admire his tenacity and his belief in his ability to carry out his promises.

Is David Millband something to do with education if he is I have met him BUT didnt have a clue who he was, I was the catering manager for a brand new school a flag ship in the borough, anyway the day it was to be offically opened was still a working day, there were loads of bods in suits about the place that day, we had been strict instructions to clear the hall as quickly and as cleanly as possible it was all hands on deck, he was due about 2pm, so even I was sweeping the floor to get it done as quickly as possible, the door open and there stood the head with 3 bods in suits, I said we going as quickly as we can before the posh git gets here, I noticed the head quirm and this guy laughing.....he held his hand out and said Posh git and you are ......

i used to have a brilliant MP where I used to live, the Liberal Clement Freud (grandson of the psychologist)

He couldn't do enough for his constituents, and always had time to stop and speak to anyone, no matter what they wanted to say. We need more like him.
