Just in case anyone has any concerns about adding a cookie to their computer, and I know the crumbs can be a darned nuisance, they are quite easy to remove, if you so desire.

If you google "deleting cookies", there is sufficient easy to follow info there. If you have a decent virus scanner, or a spyware program, it probably will take care of the tiny intrusion itself and if you are like me and go via Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History, etc, etc on a regular basis, the problem?? has probably been sorted already.

Just remember if you delete all your cookies you have the confounded nuisance of logging back into all your web sites again.

And just in case you do not understand the use of cookies, and believe me, they are present everytime you log into a web site, here is the explanation of what they are and do.

"A cookie (also tracking cookie, browser cookie, and HTTP cookie) is a small piece of text stored on a user's computer by a web browser. A cookie consists of one or more name-value pairs containing bits of information.

The cookie is sent as an HTTP header by a web server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server. A cookie can be used for authentication, session tracking (state maintenance), storing site preferences, shopping cart contents, the identifier for a server-based session, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing textual data.

As text, cookies are not executable. Because they are not executed, they do not qualify as spyware or viruses[citation needed]. Anti-spyware products may warn users about some cookies because cookies can be used to track people or violate privacy concerns.

Most modern browsers allow users to decide whether to accept cookies, and the time frame to keep them, but rejecting cookies makes some websites unusable."

Ohhhh Dame, there is more of your personal information on THIS site than there is on that one FGS.

As Ginny said, every site you visit places a cookie, so nothing new there. Also, no actual personal information is given on that site, only opinion. Something we all have a right to have. They can't use it for anything even if they did record ANONYMOUS results. It'll only give them a general overview of public opinion.

Wow fancy that, someone collating differing opinions from around the world. Groundbreaking stuff indeed......NOT.

Wind your neck in Dame, and actually READ the site.

Hi Ginny and Cynthia, This is called Snap I believe. Sorry I have repeated your excellent advice. I think the subject has been more than adequately covered. Do you wish me to delete my lot or shall we leave it all there?? Oh golly gee I've just remembered whose thread we are on, clean forgot. Sorry you will have to go with overkill and have it all left exactly asit is writ.

Sorry TeresaW. Missed your input as well. EDIT

Cynthia

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 09:55

I have to say I am a little curious as to what Dame thinks will be done with all this anonymous political opinion?

Gee

Gee Report 20 Feb 2010 09:56

Silly Sausage Report 20 Feb 2010 09:59

I am wondering which questions are illigel as I answered them all honestly..

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 10:00

Sorry Ginny, Dame is Fairies r us.....it's the name I know her by.

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 10:01

If the question is illegal....does that make the answer illegal too?

Therefore, is it illegal to have an opinion on something?

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 20 Feb 2010 10:02

As I said in my post at 03.30 this morning while you were all snoring. I went back to the site and had another look around. I was very intrigued by the info and feedback contained under the "media coverage" heading on the left hand side. (well media something). There are quotes from all over the world, as reported in media outlets, about the site, its content and how it is rated. Some good, some bad but all giving a clear opinion of what the site is trying to achieve.

Gee

Gee Report 20 Feb 2010 10:02

Thanks Teresa. Now, next question

What is Scopes?

Edit;

Thanks again. I read the trial too and thought; what the hell has that got to do with anything? Which then made me think I must be on the wrong lines!

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 10:15

Pass....all I can find is reference to the Scopes Trial here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopes_Trial

But what that's got to do with the price of bacon in Denmark is beyond me.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 20 Feb 2010 10:16

AuntySherlock Report 20 Feb 2010 10:17

Rifle many varieties
Tele for looking through as well
John Thomas and the famous Monkey Trial in Tennessee

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 20 Feb 2010 10:24

Oh here it is look. That Scopes thing. He has written something called:

Identification of a Linear Epitope on the Fusion Glycoprotein of Respiratory Syncytial Virus

>>>>Geoffrey E. Scopes, Peter J. Watt and Paul R. Lambden

Department of Microbiology, University Medical School, Southampton General Hospital, Southampton SO9 4XY UK

Phew that clears that up. Aren't you glad you asked???

Edit: Yes I noticed that myself. Seems to be a little more to the point in question if you spell it with an "n", don't it??

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 10:27

Ah well, she's a tryer, I'll give her that LOL

Gee

Gee Report 20 Feb 2010 10:27

Ginny

Edit; Cyn, you little guru!!!

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 20 Feb 2010 10:30

i used to have a brilliant MP where I used to live, the Liberal Clement Freud (grandson of the psychologist)

He couldn't do enough for his constituents, and always had time to stop and speak to anyone, no matter what they wanted to say. We need more like him.
