Following on from my comment about Hendra virus. It is spread by fruit bats in Queensland and New South Wales. They hang upside down in trees or from lamp posts and feed in orchards then spread out everywhere. The are protected but are present in plague numbers having no predators. We haven't got them in the South West of W.A.. Several people have died and a lot of horses have developed it. The virus can affect people or horses. |
