I wouldn't NOT attend a meet if someone who disliked me was going.

I'm like Hayley on this.....wouldn't WANT to cause a scene for everyone elses sake.....BUT.....wouldn't be able to guarantee I wouldn't

AND as i said before it's supposed to be FUN fgs.....I can't be doing with saddos gate crashing and I'd get jolly cross lol xx

I agree with that Sue - I used to go to a lot of London meets and never saw anyone excluded. If anyone looked a bit shy or out of it there always seemed to be someone thoughtful enough to go and talk to them.

Your the only reason I am going to Peterborough meet this year Sue :)))))

I look forward to my days in London with TW and BC as well, but again the day is never long enough but it normally ends ina drama...lol

I think you give people too much credit. I see some whose behaviour on here leaves a lot to be desired, but I wouldn't mind betting they wouldn't have the courage to behave like that to our faces. I think if they attended a meet, they would be on their best behaviour TBH

I have only been two meets because of the blasted distance, although I was privileged to go to Daff's birthday bash :-))) Met Jean and Maz when I was in London for something else. Jax and Stray have visited me at home and Claire and I have seen each other quite a lot. None of that would have been possible without first attending a meet.

I guess that you tend to gravitate towards people you 'know' at first then just generally make a nuisance of yourself and talk to anyone that will listen after that..lol

Even the shy ones shouldn't worry because I have never known anyone excluded.

Even if I heard that a couple of people who I certainly dislike in the cyber world were attending a meet it wouldn't put me off going. I would be intrigued to see for myself what they are like in in the flesh.

I agree Lynda. I think also, never say on here/the internet what you would never be prepared to say to anyone face to face.............ie in real life............

so in other words, If someone slagged me off on here, I'd expect them to do the same to my face.........Thats fair enough isn't it?

I wasn't at the last meet Muffy, but glad you've put this one together, I'm really looking forward to it.

Is Rambling Rose coming? I still haven't met her, couldn't make it in December.

Thats the only thing that bothers me, I can be quiet charming and polite or a *itch, depending on my mood, if someone who was there who I really didnt want to speak to I could be polite or no so, I would be worried about upsetting others and people who have never met thinking OMG let me out away from her.

I enjoy meeting people, when I used to go to the Manchester meets I met Sandra and Jimmy from Bolton and I adored them have hardly ever in 4 years conversed on the boards and also Keith Red devil, I was really pleased that the second timeI met he remebered me and so did his wife, also Linda Mac lovely women the list is endless.

I SWORE I'd never organise another meet after some of the rubbish that occured as a result of the last one.....

BUT then i though *s*d it* I want to meet up with my friends AND some new people hopefully and if people want to fall out with me or take umbrige then *fine*

As somebody so much wiser than me once said (and please don't ask me who)You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all the people all of the time !!! xx

You are welcome.... just join in.... this lot (me included) get a carried away when we have the bit between our teeth, lol....

Do you know what a *meet* is then? Just in case you don't... it iis simply a get together... arranged on the boards, and if you fancy attending, you give your name to the organiser... Muffy is arranging the Peterborough meet, for instance.... it looks like it might be quite a big one... so if you fancy getting to know this motley lot, welcome!

Love

ADDS....Obviously some of us have been around for a few years now and wouldprobably have met quite a few people, and possible more than once in some cases, but I think most would definitely be up for meeting a few more...especially newer ones.

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 13 Feb 2010 22:23

I think the general idea is that meets that are advertised on the boards, like the Peterborough meet, are open to everyone. the details are there, you either add your name and go along or not.

Among friends, or mini-meets, where a couple might get together because they are in the area on a certain day, or because it's about time they got together again (lol), don't have to be publicly organised, as it's not so open.

That's the long and short of it really.

I'm just as annoying and awkward in real life, Sue.

As it happens, some of the ladies are meeting on Monday.

SueMaid Report 13 Feb 2010 22:20

Well thanks a lot for sharing that Daff - obviously I wasn't special enough to be invited. You could've all chipped in for the airfare and I don't eat much:-(

Out of curiosity there are "certain" people who appear - shall we say - awkward on here that I would love to meet in person. I'd be keen to see if they are actually as annoying in real life as they can be on here:-)) I have to say the few people I've actually met from here have been exactly has I thought they would be.

I wouldn't go to any meet with TW and Stray - you know why ladies:-))

Uggers

Uggers Report 13 Feb 2010 22:20

I suppose everyone shoudl be welcome at meets. It can feel like some people only say they might go without any intention of going because there is a troubled history between them and other people going. So I can understand why people say they don't want some people going.

The whole meets thing is difficult - they start off with people who don't know each other meeting up but after time the bigger ones tend to develop into get togethers of people who are generally all matey and that must put other people off going.

There are still a lot of people I would be very happy to meet but then there are a few I really don't want to - that might put me off going if there was any likelihood of hostility for other peoples sake.

Hiya Ginnie.... I think it is a debate on *open* or *closed* meets.... and when is it a *meet* or a *get together of existing friends*
