Yes, I agree that Alf's comments are old. "Strewth", "Strike me", etc. were old sayings which were used prior to WW2, and I think the name Sheila was a popular Christian name for girls in England during WW1, where it wasn't known in Australia, so the Aussie soldiers referred to the girls as 'sheilas' - and somehow we had the reputation for calling all girls sheilas until after WW2 was over. New sayings come and go with the times, but these days they are world wide, since the advent of television and quotes from movies became popular. |

I think with Alf and Irene, they have taken the "Dinky Die Aussie" theme too far. I've never had an adult call me "girlie" or bloomin' this and that, not that I'm a spring chicken any more. |

I know times have changed since I was young, but hopping in and out of different beds is not what I consider a good example to set youngsters and H&A is shown at 7pm here. The story-line is aimed at the young ones too, so what does it tell them? They don't even go on dates first - at most, a juice in the diner is enough to warrant a roll in the hay! |

Poor speech makes me cross too, and I hate words like #gonna' We were taught to speak the Kings english when I was at school. I dont have a lot of tolerance of bad spelling either, or text. |

I should be one of the last ones complaining about our speech but what annoys me is that one of our popular news readers grew up in my street and went to school with my children - and her speech is totally different from what it was when she lived there - because she had elocution lessons! - but also, because the news is written properly (well, most of the time, anyway). |

Irene likes to leave the last letter off all her words. To me, that's like nails down the blackboard. I can barely listen - we don't all talk like that, believe me. |

Yes, Dee - we are ahead but only by a couple of weeks. Your 'lay-off' time is different from ours. We usually watch until Oct-Nov, then a new series starts early in February. This changes things. |

Yes Newfies are very strong and have to be trained at an early age as they do not stay small for long and are just babies with a lot of strength! I'm 5ft tall and have been dragged a few times in the past! Lol. |

Well we know Ruby has money from her deceased mum. Leah owns the diner with Irene and Brax is broke. Beats me how they get Five Star rooms and attention. So much for the rest of us in the real world, lol. ;-) |

Is everyone covered by insurance/ Otherwise it must be costly, the number of times some seem to goto the hospital! Cant understand what some are living on, they dont seem to work only in the diner and the hospital. Children have money to have food at the diner instead of eating at home. |

It's no wonder they took him back when he was suspended not long ago. It was the same when Dr. Armstrong was there - she did Emergency one minute, then did a Transplant!....Yes, I've noticed that they all end up in the same private room, no matter how trivial their problem is. Maybe that room is reserved for Sid's friends! LOL. |

That big shot of the hospital (or where it is meant to be) is Mona Vale Hospital. I have been there a couple of times. It is on the northern beaches of Sydney and not far from where the beach/outdoor shots are filmed and caravan park, etc. Barbra you see a few stragglers wandering around posing as other doctors. You never see the specialists any more. You would get the occasional surgeon give an opinion. They are so lucky to have Sid, lol - he seems to have fingers in many pies. ;-) ;-) |
