I have a bronze Olympic medal.

Yes I was referring to Vancouver weather. I take it that the temperature has to be a certain chilly low degrees. Or do they ski on bean bag beans.

We are definitely behind the snowman with our ability to practice for winter sports. The majority of Aussies have never even seen snow. I have, once and it is horrible.

I have the radio on as I'm on here, and heard the press conference that Jack held earlier this morning. He sounded very upbeat about it, and his prognosis. His dad had it 17 years ago, and won.


Yep, Svend would have been great ..... daft beggar!


Not sure about the recording. There was talk a couple of weeks ago that CBC would be recording with the idea of using it IF it worked out well. But OH said nothing has been mentioned recently.

Really, the cheek of these furriners. Was a bit grubby so I washed it and hung it to dry outside the window.

Threatening to remove it they are and it will take at least a week or two to dry in this inclement weather.

Hadn't heard about Jack. I've been kind of off the news for the last week. Unpublicspirited of me, I know - but how much pre-Olympics can one take? So hadn't heard about Jack.

... Huh, didn't know that Olivia had had thyroid cancer, either. (See, I know who *that* wife of is! Could be because she's an MP on her own ... and has a name of her own ...)

I'm not Jack's biggest fan politically. I did vote for him as party leader, but it's not like there was a lot of choice, although I am a fan of Bill Blaikie. We missed our chance with Svend, unfortunately.

Tonight, Saturday night and Sunday matinee ...... and then it's all over.


At least, until they start rehearsing for The Magic Flute, in a few weeks time (after the Olympics are over I believe).


Have you heard that Jack Layton has treatable prostate cancer, and isn't going to stand down while having treatment.


Says he might get more chance to watch the Olympics on TV!

Hi Bob. Jeremy Clarkson Isn't he in some sort of automobile extravaganza on the telly? Never heard of him.

Meanwhile with the GR Musical Appreciation Society. Thank you for the generous contribution to my "musical" education. It is being morphed into a CD which I will play at five decibels beyond the pain level in my little red car. Hearing, pardon, what hearing, that's shot anyway so I might as well enjoy while I still can.

I have also passed a few of the offerings onto another aficionado of musical talent. However her ear has been spoilt by an over exposure to U2. There is always retraining.

I thought for a mad moment, JC was Jeremy Clarkson........

Hi Ann, I'm not a real sax fan other than one piece. Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. Send shivers down my spine.

I know I have strange music tastes. I tend to concentrate on one music genre at a time, often over a span of four or five years. Rock, country, classical, alternative, pop. Never did dabble in the heavy metal scene, at that time I was attending symphony orchestral concerts and operas. Might say I'm well rounded, musical appreciation style.

My Dad had an abiding love of hammond organ music. Those albums extend into the 33 1/3 rpm vinyl era and is another selection of albums I have carefully stored away.
