I wouldn't normally cook chicken in the microwave but to be honest it tasted more or less the same as if it had been cooked in the main oven so will be ideal for holiday cooking where there is usually a microwave. |

The chicken was great. I marinaded it in red wine, olive oil, tomato puree and tomato ketchup, chopped garlic and soy sauce. Then cooked it on high in the sauce in the microwave for 12 minutes. (6 small boned thighs) Then let it go cold as we had it with salad. |

What was wrong with the sausage casserole then Julia? Sounds as if it should have been OK.. frustrating when that happens though. |

Ann, good luck with your experiment. Last night I made a sausage type casserole with red wine. OH immeditely didn't like it, I persevered for a bit, then also gave in. We ended up with cheese crackers.LOL |

Julia that sounds very tasty. I am experimenting with boned chicken thighs and the microwave to see how it turns out. (We could be having cheese salad!) |

Good luck to them Dizzie, hope all goes well for them. You will miss them I'm sure. How about writing a diary of their travels on here. |

Today, I bought a lovely piece of fresh Haddock, for my evening meal. I am going to flour it, then coat in milk and egg, then dip into some wholemeal breadcrumbs, before gently frying it. To serve, I will use lemon juice and black pepper, and have a fresh piece of wholemeal bread and butter Simple, but very, very delicious, and satisfying. |

One of my favourites tonight. Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, baked beans and fried bread cooked by OH. Not sure if it is the food or the fact that it is OH who cooks that makes it favourite. He doesn't 'do' cooking unless this or barbecue. |

A few years ago, when self catering on holiday on the Chatsworth Estate, further up county, we went to the local pub, only one in the village, for an evening meal. Us grown-ups ordered steak and chips with side salad. The salad came complete with strawberries and grapes. I turned my nose up at this at first, but, it was really tasty with the meat, and plenty of ground pepper. I very often serve it like this now. |

Although I love the smell of lavender I don't think i would like the taste. I have tried and liked black pepper with strawberries. Not tried chocolate with chilli |

I used some of those fifteen bags of blackberries I had in the freezer from the old man's demented harvesting to make blackberry curd.It is delicious but didn't thicken up much, enough to stick on the butter though. |
