Ah Julia I have heard of scallops. tonights meal is a lazy one. We had friends for lunch and I had cooked a small piece of gammon to have cold. They had had a large cooked breakfast so didn't want much so I have some gammon left over. Tonight it will be gammon egg and chips. really don't feel like cooking anyway with this cold. |

I made a pie last night with Quorn beefy chunks, onion and a lot of mushrooms I had in the fridge. It looked a bit dry so I mixed Marmite with tinned chopped tomatoes and tipped that on it.Suet crust on top. |

Today we had pork chops grilled in the oven and just before serving l mix the juices from the chops with some tomato puree then coat the chops with it and pop them back in the oven for 5 or 10 minutes, we had these with homemade chips and garden peas. |

We don't have chips because I don't like frozen ones, especially oven chips, and fresh ones are a pain in the nethers to make so we don't have them. |

Mushrooms in pastry sound nice Dizzie as does bubble and squeak with egg. we had pasta with bolognese sauce, nice but not very imaginative, couldn't be bothered cooking much with this cold. |

Chile prawns Julia, is that something you have cooked or pre packed? Sounds tasty. We have fish pie, I feel like nursery food and mashed potato will probably do the job. |

Hello Ann, I have to confess the Chilli Prawns are care of Captain Birds Eye. We have a situation wherebye OH does not eat alot of fish, and prefers Liver. These days I can only eat it, say tomorrow when it is cold, sliced thin, with mustard on. I do buy fresh fish and put it in the freezer, but the Chilli Prawns are very nice. You get two ready to cook sachets in a box, but I think they maybe about £3.99. |

will look out for them. I am surprised though that you can eat chilli, I know you have problems with some food and chillie can irritate stomachs. I have a friend who, years ago had gallstones quite badly and he could not eat offal, I think he was OK when he'd had his gall bladder removed though. I wonder why you can eat liver cold but not hot? I ahve never tried it cold but I am sure it is good for you to eat it. |

I have been a vegetarian for thirty-five years now. I always missed bacon until vegetarian rashers were available although a Frazzles sandwich would do at a push but oh how I miss liver! |

Ann, the Chilli Prawns I mentioned are in the Birds Eye 'Simply' range at £3.96 for two servings. Bought some more for the freezer. Well you know what us women are like, if there is a space in the freezer/store cupboard, it has to be filled. Actually the Chilli Prawns are not too hot, and I seem to manage them with some lime juice on. |
