What am I like? (don't answer that!) I have just been sorting through various book cases with a view to offloading some more books to a charity shop - took a load yesterday!

I found a copy of The writers Handbook 2002 Loads of addresses etc in there, possibly a lot out of date. Now dilemma, should I keep it or bin it??

Morning ladies ,

Glad to know I am 'normal' then !

When I read poetry and say to myself WOW, it does set me back a bit. But we are all different, with differing styles and vocabulary. I know nothing of the techno stuff and don't really care TBH.

If peeps read my poems I am grateful, they don't have to like it..lol

BC Lol!! But it is good to doubt if they then put you on the right track. But apparently 70% of people suffer from imposter syndrome. There is a web site about it www.impostersyndrome.com
So if most of the world suffers from it we are normal!!!

Morning all:) I used to think like that and compare my humble writing with writers I love, and then I would stop. But 'comparisons are odious' and the way I look at is, it may not be great writing but there is someone, somewhere who will admire and enjoy it! Plus it gives one pleasure. Do not read books which make you doubt!! lol BC XX

Ann, I'm just getting to the bit about that in one of the 'writing' books ...that it is easy to think (especially when you are reading 'good' writers ie ones that you enjoy ) that you're not very good yourself...

will let you all know what it says tomorrow lol.

I read things and think 'what on earth am I doing imagining I might be able to write?' !

Just reading my book on creativity. It talks about the ‘imposter syndrome’—that feeling that at any minute the world may discover that we’re actually not qualified or not talented.

Do any of you feel like that? I do when I have written stories I feel it is presumptuous of me to think other people will like them.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Mar 2010 16:08

Hmm I have that problem Rose, got this book sitting here waiting to be read - Creativity by Jurgen Wolff, but haven't got round to reading past the first two or three pages yet!

Thanks for your hard work Teresa :)

I decided to come home early today, too tired to paint anymore , so came via the library, two books on writing :)) Now I must make sure I read them as well as, and not instead of, writing.

Thank you for all your effort in this Teresa, it is much appreciated.

Thanks for that Ann, I'll keep Mau on the open list.

You know what BC? I never thought of that LOL

Ok, so far, we have nine definite active members (including Mau, who is only temporarily out of the picture). One Question mark, and two who are dropping out.

There are still some who haven't replied, but I will take it they have dropped out if there is no reply. However, the door is always open if anyone wishes to join/re-join us at any time.

Plenty of us to be going on with, so that's great. I'll send a new list around on Saturday.

Yes. Ann, Mau is slowly recovering but still wants to be part of our gang.....XXBC

AnninGlos Report 18 Mar 2010 09:12

Lol BC!
Just a reminder, if you have not heard from Mau, she has labrynthitis so will probably not be able to look at her computer until she is better. I am sure she will still be with us though, she was very enthusiastic.

*admires TW...you have a way with words. Ever thought of writing? lol BC XXX

TeresaW Report 18 Mar 2010 08:57

I'd say just for this week, hang on till Sunday. I'll put an email round on Saturday letting you know the list of active members. It'll be up to you if you revise the list, from those who have not had the time to reply.

Any non-active members looking in, please dont' think you're about to be excluded in any way. That's not it at all. We're just trying to find out who still wants to read our work and who doesn't. None of us want to send our little darlings out to anyone who can't read it, it just clutters your inbox.

Feedback is important, so if anyone can just pop in a quick reply, no matter how brief, just to let us know it has been read and you enjoyed/hated it, that would be really great. xx

TeresaW Report 17 Mar 2010 18:46

I'll check Maggie, I'm still waiting on some replies. I'd leave it until Sunday, I'll have a better idea then.
