I don't think it will fold Daff, apologies to everyone for being on a downer yesterday, I think I need a holiday Lol!!!!

But on the subject of long pieces. Although I will have my netbook with me I will be travelling on Sunday. I would like to send out the next chapter of the untitled piece (must really find a title for it too) before I go tomorrow if possible. If you feel that you would rather not receive the next chapter would you please put it on here so I don't overburden anyone.

I have found, in the short while I have been a part of the group, that it is making me think really hard about what I write, and about what others are writing.

I have read some work, late at night, intending to get back to critique it.... and then forgetting.... it is only later that I remember, but I enjoy reading everyone's work.

Most of all, I am beginning to think hard about my work... the last set piece sounded a doddle, lol as there was so much in the papers... but my inspiration has come from a very strange angle/perspective.... and I decided to treat it just as though I was writing a real novel, and research it properly.

So it will be late... and although not *the novel* it is being used by me as a training ground.

I will be devastated if the group folds up, but I do feel that, after begging, I could still send my work out..... and someone will kindly critique it for me! lol

Fine by me Helen, you can only do so much. At least we know what you are doing so thank you for that. I will continue to send you mine to save taking you off my e mail group, you don't have to plow through them though.

Hi everyone, sorry I still haven't sent critiques of all your hard work, to be honest I still haven't managed to find any quality time to read them and I have 31 pieces in my writing group file to attend to!! As for writing something of my own, although I really enjoy it, I am not not finding time to do this right now due to family and work commitments. As a matter of fact I am thinking of giving up one of my part time jobs before anything else slips.

So, as I keep having to apologise, I think I need to take a break for now. I Will reply to all your pieces as soon as I can but I won't be writing at all now until September, at the start of the autumn school term. If any of you wish to keep sending me pieces of work I will be really happy to receive them, on the understanding that I may not be able to reply immediately.

So have a lovely summer, all of you, and I'll be popping in on the thread now and then if that's ok.

I agree with Ann, if we stop now then it would be difficult to get going again. Good idea, Rose.then if Mau comes to see me she can write all about it...lol...XX...

Know what you mean about 'stopping' Ann,it was just an idea really to see what others thought and perhaps get some feedback?
I too wonder if our postings are received and read, as writing group members are often on the threads,so could even send pm.

Maybe those who are going on holiday..(or just not having the inspiration or time to think up fiction at the moment) could write just a 'dear diary' type piece? just to keep our hand in...

I know I would love to read a little 'take' on London Mau ( I love London lol) and also wherever you are going Ann ...doesn't have to be what you do as that's perhaps personal, but just your impressions of the places or people there?

Mau, yes I have received your pieces and your comments regularly. I think if we stop for a break we wont get started again, that is just my opinion. I am away for 4 weeks but will continue if we are still going as will have my netbook (notebook) with me.

I'm still writing Ann and sending my thanks to all.
I have thought recently that there aren't many replies but then folk say they're too busy.
I'm feeling like BC and can't get motivated,maybe we all need a break for a little while. Lots of us are going away on holiday,I'm going to London next Friday for a week so won't be on GR.
What are others thoughts on this?

no Ann nothing is WRONG for the group, it's just as Rose said longer pieces need to be read thoroughly and it does take more time to give an honest review.

Some of us don't have as much time as others, i am not saying long pieces are wrong..

rose glad you have accommodation sorted. I know you said you would be unavailable for a while and I was actually not meaning you about the longer pieces because I know you will eventually return. But what stella said made me think that maybe longer pieces were not right for the group.

Ann it isn't 'because' your pieces are long that i don't reply, I don't reply to the short ones either at the moment lol...but it just for me seems that a longer piece deserves a longer response, and my brain is flitting too much at the moment to come up with anything sensible ( either a critique or any work come to that lol) I keep starting and then having to go off to the house, or sort out the council tax bill etc...

another fortnight and i should be a bit more settled ...at least have sorted out that i can stay where i am living for another six months at least (assuming I can rake up 6 months rent in one go lol) , so that's a relief :))

Well I think it would be a great pity if we disbanded now. Can we not just jog along, long and short, and hope that others will join in more at another time? XX

Sorry Stella, must be mine.Maybe the group isn't for me if people want short pieces. Maybe that is why people don't reply.

i think my only problem is that some of the offerings are too long and i think i will come back later to digest them properly and then i forget...

I haven't really gone off the boil BC as I am still writing the long one and enjoying doing so, it is more the group I am a bit disillusioned with, it was good at first but has tailed off. I guess a lot of people have found they can't participate at the same time, but I wish they would just acknowledge receiving offerings.

It is bound to happen. People get caught up with life and stuff, but I agree, Ann, we all need some motivation and am sure that is why I have also gone off the boil! lol But, not disheartened;)) XX

Rose, just a suggestion, if it is a bad week for you and you know you can't respond at all, could you just pop in here and say what you have just said. It would make those of us sending things out feel they are being read. cos I am losing heart here.
