Hopefully it is organised for the laptop to be picked up for me (luckily whoever found it at security was honest) and I will get it when we return to Tenerife in September. Thank goodness for friends who can speak Spanish. Nothing sensitive on there or needed, I only use it when away as I use a desk top at home and I had downloaded everything I did while there onto a flash drive, carried separately.
Going to Dorset this time so no flights involved.

oh Ann! I hope you get the laptop back ok, and that what was on it is not too important, to be able to do without for a bit.

Hope you enjoy your next bit of 'gallivanting' lol, looking forward to the next part of your story :))

Thanks for the suggestions Rose, hope nobody minds but I will probably opt out of that one to concentrate on my story which was neglected while I was away. We go away again on Friday and I don't think there is internet access where we are staying, and even if there is I will be reliant on using OH's laptop as mine is still 'on holiday' at Madrid airport. (don't ask!)

Hello. Just reading through after being off line after moving house, and just had to write this :-)
Bridget - my brother has a flat at Sandrock!

Ok just an option for this week if needed,

"The Letter"....received or sent, wanted or unwanted, lost in transit which might have made a difference, hidden, discarded.

or, a special place...in the world, in your mind, in your heart....real or imagined.

Poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction as per usual :)

Mau

ILike the idea of writing a piece at a time..I am going to try that. Strangely enouogh I am sittin in the very building where I first learnt that I had a baby sister. My mother was very ill during the pregnancy and I was sent to live in a convent near hastings called Sandrock Hall. I was here for about 6 months. It was my god father who came to seeme and told me that I had a sister.
Almost 60 years later I find myself here...it feels a little odd, and I wonder why I was brought here or is it sheer co-incidence

Good afternoon Bridget and Rose
I've not been around for a few days as have been house-sitting,garden minding and dog watching lol for family

Anyway some back home from their hols. but now Daughter's washing machine has gone 'doolally' so I'm washing her holiday clothes and trying desperately to get them dried, dodging showers :O( ...however we're invited to tea so will enjoy hearing all about her holiday :O)

Bridget I've started stories of my childhood,(first copy I sent out) at first there was soo much I remembered that I couldn't put it to paper quick enough,so I'm writing it in stages.
I'm in the process of writing the next chapter and find it really worthwhile.

Perhaps you could begin your childhood memories with the 'The Birthday Present'...incidently I was a Birthday Present for my Mother

It does make sense Bridget :) I am going to try and write about the people in my tree, though some of them will be less 'known' , I hope that even a few lines about each will make them 'live' to any family that reads about them in the future.

And also if I have left some bits of writing, even if they never see the light of day, it will leave my family something of me, in my own words :)

I am going to nudge this whenever I see it more than a few pages away.
It is an inspirational thread, writing is so important and if you do family research it can make a huge difference to family present and in the future, to read about the people in the tree.
hope that makes sense

Hello Bridget, how lovely that your sister is "the best birthday present" :))

perhaps if you jot down all the memorable moments whether happy or sad that you have particularly shared? and then expand on them...but to be honest your phrase " the best birthday present I have had." kind of says it all for me :)

A very happy birthday to both of you!

Hello everyone

i apologise for not staying in contact, but i do peep in most days and I do read everything that is sent to me. At the moment free time is very short and i need to stay in contact with the family.
today I tried to write something for my sister and failed miserably. my younger sister will be 60 next week the best birthday present I have had. She was born in 5th june 1950 and i was born on 5th june 1946.
If anyone can help advise etc I really would be greatful for some suggestions or starters for ten as I say.

I go back to Spain at the end of summer and this time it really is the end of work..I am not renewing my professional status as a Registered nurse. the end of an era.....

Thank you all
I will be posting a small piece during the week

Thank you to all who have emailed entries, I have enjoyed reading them and am amazed by their individuality. I hope when I get around to it I may find a topic that will inspire me to write. Forgive me for not responding sooner, I am away at the moment but as soon as I get back I shall commit to joining in to see what I need to do.

Thanks again

I am sort of involved with my ongoing story at the moment but will try to have a go at nostalgia if I have time here. I am thinking of calling the story Picture Perfect????
