Seems it's getting warmer Nicky. We had a bit of snow on Saturday but only a cm. It's still here though because it's freezing. No North wind so it isn't too cold.

Heather....... Yes think Aldingbourne will have had more snow than us...I`m less than a mile from the sea. Aldingbourne slightly more inland and the Chichester area always seems to get it worse than us.

We`ve had a very slight thaw today temp is +1........ but no more snow, seems Kent seems to getting more today, and maybe North of the downs in Sussex? Anyone from there??

There just isn't any snow around here. I have checked the freezer but that is a frost free model. I wish it was winter!!! This is our second heatwave in about two months. There is only so much clothing you can take off before they arrest you for indecent exposure.

Adelaide (pronounced /ˈædəleɪd/[3]) is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of South Australia, and is the fifth-largest city in Australia, with a population of more than 1.1 million.[4] It is a coastal city situated on the eastern shores of Gulf St. Vincent, on the Adelaide Plains, north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St. Vincent and the low-lying Mount Lofty Ranges. It is roughly 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills but sprawls 90 km (56 mi) from Gawler at its northern extent to Sellicks Beach in the south.

Named in honour of Queen Adelaide who was born in Germany, the consort of King William IV, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city and chose its location close to the River Torrens in the area originally inhabited by Indigenous Australians of the Kaurna tribe. Light's design set out Adelaide in a grid layout, interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by parkland. Early Adelaide was shaped by religious freedom and a commitment to political progressivism and civil liberties, which led to world-first reforms.

As South Australia's seat of government and commercial centre, Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. Most of these are concentrated in the city centre along the cultural boulevard of North Terrace, King William Street and in various districts of the metropolitan area.

Today, Adelaide is noted for its many festivals and sporting events, its food, wine and culture, its long beachfronts, and its large defence and manufacturing sectors. It continues to rank highly as a livable city, being in the Top 10 in The Economist's World's Most Livable Cities index.[

back from seeing Les Mis - terrific!!! and thanks to some people from Monmouth who failed to make it to the show we got our tickets upgraded!! an ill wind an all that - a lady runs a club called Culture Vultures and had organised a whole coach party for the show - they go all over the place apparently. Well at least half a dozen failed to make it so she was selling the tickets off and charging £10 a ticket - so we upgraded our £15 tickets to £45 ones!!! our £15 tickets were all we could get as it has been a total sell-out and we had "restricted view" written on them, so had no idea how bad they would be - now we'll never know, so we were sorry for the people who failed to make it, but happy to take their place

We appear to have more children about than I knew of in our street! I know of only three old enough to be out sledging, but I counted seven and an unknown Dad out the field at the end of my garden! I should explain there are only 21 homes here, so we know everyone. There is a good slope and they are coming down ata terrific speed. The 93 yr old next door is panicing in case they cause damage to her hedge, but then she always gets in that sort of panic if children are playing. I tell her they are doing no harm, just enjoying themselves.

We had some more small hard snow for about an hour this afternoon here in Chelmsford.

I had to deliver something to someone about half a mile or so away so walked the dogs (labrabors) round there.
They loved it and when we got back it was cold enough to just brush the snow off their backs with by hand, it hadn't melted on them at all so they were almost perfectly dry underneath .
The pavements have snow which hasn't melted on them, so perfectly safe for walking so long as you've got a decent tread on your boots.
The roads are another matter, though !

Just went down the shed and got the sledge out, it's ancient with steel runners, so should go well down the road tomorrow. I might indulge in a second childhood.

It's the turn of our south east corner now..Can't complain because we haven't done too bad up to now.........
Coming down thick and fast, mixed with gritty hail, all blowing in on a stiff easterly wind.
We are near the south coast, but 'round the corner' the other side of Dover, there are road closures because of the amount of snow.

Keep warm everyone.
