Tasmanian Devils are lovely and it is so sad - I am quite worried as a lot of them were dying off with facial cancer. They were trying to control it, it would be such a shame to lose them. When they are babies their mothers carry them around like a charm bracelet around their stomach as they lollop along. Their walk is so lop sided - bit like me whilst I am on crutches.

Dear All

Hello

This lot of snow was unexpected in London.

It looks lovely on the trees but on the pavements, there is all ice and slush.

Take care all

Very best wishes
xx

I noticed in the paper that farmers had been warned that if they cleared roads using red diesel they could be fined by customs and Excise, they are only allowed to do it using white diesel.

Jude, the tractors are farmers who have been asked to help by the council, we had one up Oak Grove the last bit of snow, no sign today though. They always used to do it until the gritters took over. It started to thaw earlier, but next will be the Monnow flooding!

Where I am in Cardiff we have quite a lot of snow and it's still snowing on and off and as little ( chihuahuas ) as my dogs are they love it and have been jumping around the back garden,
Looked after the grandson yesterday and his dad rushed in and took him from me leaving Cardiff at 4.50 and had to leave his car at the bottom of the mountain and his other half met him and they had to carry Tom the rest of the way arriving home at 8.40 from what is a normally 40 minute trip, still all my family got home safe, yes Annie no matter how old you are we still worry

Take care everyone and stay safe

Pam

Well, we are deep in snow again, all vehicle tracks obliterated. Thank goodness we managed to get out and get some cat food etc yesterday. Also managed to get to my physio session, but I doubt will get to optician again tomorrow. that will be the 3rd time to cancel! Still snowing!

maggiewinchester Report 13 Jan 2010 00:24

I'm well peed off! No snow - but the slush is freezing well!
We had buses on Monday.
I watched to see the 08:10 bus go by on Tuesday - yay it went by - we still had buses.
I slid out (pavements still 3 inches deep in ice) at 08:35 to catch the 08:40 bus - to turn the corner and see a bus in the middle of the road!
This was the 08:10 bus - stuck on a corner.
No buses then
I staggered up the road - yes it was still icy for a mile, when, the roads incredibly became clear - shame about the pavements.
In the centre of town, I could stop walking like Poirot.
Unfortunately all this careful walking on ice has had a consequence - the knee I had cartilage removed from 2 years ago, has swelled up, is grinding and rather painful (a bit like toothache)
We will no longer have buses until the road has been gritted, and I'm reluctant to walk 2 miles to work ( at least half of that on ice), as it's obviously 'opening old wounds' in my knee!
However, anyone (the majority) who gets to work by car would say it's 'clear as a bell' in Winchester. Of course, they stick to the main roads - We, ( the majority) who live on the 'outskirts' can, apparently like it or lump it!
I'd love to see the doctor about my knee - but that means walking to town , and if I can do that, I suppose I can walk another half mile to work......
