LWH, do you mean if someone is provoking you, you should take the higher ground and not react?

Can't say it any better than Rose has.

Maybe we should try but I find it normally happens with a lot of people after a while anyway - although some of them end up reminding you why you didn't like them in the first place:) There are only a few on here who get me wound up regularly and a few I just don't like and I mostly manage to avoid them anyway.

:))

SRS "Rose, would it need people to cosy up to old enemies or could people just refrain from starting provocative threads and avoid each other's threads on a day to day basis?"

Of course, we could all avoid starting or responding to provocative threads...or if they are our own and have been 'turned' by a provocative comment . We could ignore every nasty comment someone makes against those more vulnerable than ourselves and say 'it is nothing to do with me'.
We could leave those who wish to be nasty to carry on without 'let or hindrance' lol...

avoiding someone like that in real life is easy...generally speaking they don't come into your space if you are not in theirs...on here they can....

I'm with Hayley on this one.

I've accepted olive branches so many times now and nothing changed.

I won't rule out that ONE day something might give if the playing of the smallest violins in the world ceases and the endless snide comments here and elsewhere on the WWW stops........but as it stands now.......nope.

I do TRY to keep away though that's not always possible for a gobsh**e like me LOL xx

As a mother I hear every word Rose says that is the no level some people have sunk too, I cant forgive the personal intrusion in to my life and that of my family, I cant forgive someone who wants a sticky thread removing for someone who is dying just because they are jealous and I am tired with making excuses for they are unbalance yes they are so leave desent folk alone.

Happy New Year Hayley, Rose and everyone :)))

Rose, would it need people to cosy up to old enemies or could people just refrain from starting provocative threads and avoid each other's threads on a day to day basis?

(Not saying that you or anyone should by the way - just playing Devil's Advocate again lol)

A New Year miracle? a complete change of personality for some? ( no pun intended there) ...

it won't happen ....and actually I don't think it should...why on earth should someone be 'forgiven' and treated like a nice person when they're not? sorry I know that's not in the spirit of the thread ( which is admirable and generous ) ...but I personally won't 'cosy up' with the kind of person who verbally abuses kids and ill people and say they are 'welcome here and I wish them the best'.

At very least i will not descend to that level of hypocrisy.

It would be good to look to the future, some people have already done this and get on quite amicably now which shows it can be done.

However, to be honest I cannot see this happening at present as I cannot see everyone adhering to this.

Lovely thought though xxxx
