Hazel, I could never contemplate paying £800 for a dog! as you said designer dog!! Spaniel hair is silky isn't it? poodle hair is more wiry.

i just couldn't afford that price .if i do get a dog it will be from a dogs home .

Had a giggle there for a minute. I live in a little village just outside MILTON KEYNES and my son, with whom I will be spending Christmas Day with, lives in Miton Keynes. XXX Have a good time.

I bet your house smelt wonderful Sylvia, all those scrumptious pies and tarts. I am so lazy, we have bought ones!! We have a home made pudding, but that was made by my lovely neighbour who makes me one every year.

We have a busy day tomorrow, friends for coffee in the morning, hairdressers afternoon, then our neighbours in for a drink and nibbles in the evening - she makes the pudding and we have them in for a drink, we have lived here 17 years now and it has become a tradition. Then Wednesday should be fairly quiet and then all being well on the weather front, drive to Milton Keynes on Thursday to our son's until the Sunday.

Hazel, the dogs sound sweet. I bet she doesn't have any trouble selling them. Do they have poodle hair (i.e. that doesn't moult)?

Well, thats nanny's duty done for another year. We ended up making 180 mince pies and 60 jam tarts. All have been put in the usual tins ( empty quality street or biscuit tins) and labelled . Ella decided it would be better to make more than requested as she found my extra stash of flour etc ( purchased just in case) rather than have to make more possibly on christmas eve, like last year.
I must admit that we are a good team now. Not like a couple of years ago when I dreaded her coming over to make them, because at that age she was more of a hindrance than a help. But she is really good now and as I roll and cut the pastry, she puts them in the tins and fills them with mincemeat, then she puts the tops on, brushes with egg and puts them into the oven. She is reading this over my shoulder and says she is a kitchen maid. ( Too many family history stories I am afraid.)
She has asked her dad for a subscription to GR as she has a famous uncle and wants to put him on her own tree.
I must just add, thankyou for the nice welcome you gave me earlier today. I dont feel so much of an outsider now and will definately try to post on a regular basis. You might even get fed up with my little stories.
So here is wishing you all a very happy christmas. This week is going to be really busy, panto tomorrow,hairdressers wednesday and a good rest thursday before going to sons on Christmas day.

Ann, no the two adult dogs are white and both cockapoo.
but 4 of the puppies are white and 2 are brown
i misspelt the name on my last post ...

I didn't think you were moaning Hazel. What colour are the dogs? Was it a black poodle and a black cocker spaniel. I bet they are gorgeous, it sounds a nice cross. We have had two poodles. Only trouble is both ours went blind and apparently they are prone to that and spaniels have ear problems. lets hope these don't end up with the problems of both sides of the 'family'.

i have just got back from my friends from seeing the puppies
Daisy the dog who had the pups, greeted me at the door and after fussing her for a bit she allowed me to hold one of her pups they are so lovely ..they are cockerpoo's

Those were the days when GR used to communicate with us.

Chatston I started and did for over a year and Mags carried it on.
We even had pms from GR thanking us for the daily giggle they had from it.
I still have the thread saved on my laptop.

Barbra, put it behind you, these things happen and I am sure others have forgotten it. Maybe you should have stayed on the thread as you enjoyed it. There are not many 'spiteful' as you put it people, just sometimes as in real life, little spats happen, we are all human. Best ignored and carry on as usual. Nice to see you on here anyway.

Donna, yes I remember Chatson Village, I have to say I only used to read not post on it. Was that the one Mags did?

What a shame that your Mum's stuff is locked in Hotmail, a lesson there I guess. Hope that doesn't hinder your research too much.

Hi Hazel, yes I have seen you post but I didn't see the thread you mention. I have often been overlooked (or ignored) when I have posted, particularly on chat, but I think it is because people get engrossed in a conversation with a group of people and are intent on answering within that conversation, if you see what I mean. I am sure it is not to deliberately ignore you. In fact I have been known to comment onh being overlooked and people are generally apologetic.

I think if you push yourself and post enough you will eventually feel that you 'belong', after all we all pay our fees, we are all the same category of members so we all 'belong'. thank you for your comments.

i have been reading the posts on here
and you know Syliva G took the words right out of my mouth.
("I read your messages every day but have not felt as if i belonged") i also feel like that on here and on chat ... yes i have added to some threads but then the thread goes dead, thread killer lol.just 2/3 days ago i put up a thread on chat just to say about another site wishing all its members a merry christmas which i thought was nice . that thread was on the boards for an hour and not one person answered it so i deleted it. i am finding that people that dont put up threads or post very often just get ignored or overlooked ,
But on the brighter side i have had some laughs on here at what people say ie their jokes etc.
If this does offend anyone i will deleted when i come back because now i'm going to a friends to see 6 newly born puppies they are a cross between a poodle and a cocker spaniel.. i believe they are called designer dogs

Mum bless her was addicted to family history, quite the detective. Its nice knowing so many members on here were helped by her. Thankfully I kept all her research emails to me, she helped me in my research such alot....but very sadly, Mum didnt write her passwords down anywhere (most sites have allowed me access, including GR, but its her hotmail we need to access for so much of her work)
And your right, I cant let her or my hard work slip.

Do you recall the days of Chatston Village? Gave us hours of amusment lol

That is what I enjoy about being on here, the mix of ages. I think Katie is about your age. We did use to have an 18 year old but she went to Uni and didn't re-join Genes, Too much study to do I guess.

Yes Ann - we have met :) The intro was for others reading through. In a way I also wanted to show that people of all ages can add and equally enjoy contributing to the threads.
