I bet your house smelt wonderful Sylvia, all those scrumptious pies and tarts. I am so lazy, we have bought ones!! We have a home made pudding, but that was made by my lovely neighbour who makes me one every year.

We have a busy day tomorrow, friends for coffee in the morning, hairdressers afternoon, then our neighbours in for a drink and nibbles in the evening - she makes the pudding and we have them in for a drink, we have lived here 17 years now and it has become a tradition. Then Wednesday should be fairly quiet and then all being well on the weather front, drive to Milton Keynes on Thursday to our son's until the Sunday.

Hazel, the dogs sound sweet. I bet she doesn't have any trouble selling them. Do they have poodle hair (i.e. that doesn't moult)?

Had a giggle there for a minute. I live in a little village just outside MILTON KEYNES and my son, with whom I will be spending Christmas Day with, lives in Miton Keynes. XXX Have a good time.

Hazel, I could never contemplate paying £800 for a dog! as you said designer dog!! Spaniel hair is silky isn't it? poodle hair is more wiry.

I have just had my son and grandson staying with
us for the weekend , i havent seen my son and grandson for 6 yrs so it was lovely to see them but i have been cooking all their favorite dishes
Like Syliva G mince pies even made them a christmas cake to take back with them .. so all in all a very busy weekend ..but i loved every minute of it lol

Chatston was about village life...but not as you know it lol....the characters were worse than on any soap and it was some what colourful at times...I used to be crying typing my characters parts.

Yes I think Gaynor might have been part of it Donna, no doubt a colourful major part. She is so missed isn't she?

I like Crownhill Ann. The roads are all named after famous people if I remember right.
I use to work at Milton Keynes railway station which isnt too far from there. My son lives in Oldbrook and my eldest daughter lives in Broughton. I live in the village of Chicheley which is on the road to Bedford. About 7 miles to MK station.

I have heard of (seen on signs while circling round looking for where we should be Lol!) Oldbrook and Broughton but not heard of Chicheley which is strange because we used to live near Shefford in Beds so travelled to MK possibly that way.

Yes the roads in crownhill are names after singers and filmstars I think. Like Jimi Hendrix way

It would be lovely Ann, and with threads like this it becomes more possible.

But, it will take many members making the effort to get to know those that are new or those they are unsure about.

Heres to a more friendly and less judgemental GR in 2010.

Hello Angie, good to see you on here. But we can only get to know them if they will be brave and come out from behind the settee where they are hiding and let us know they are there. The majority of people are not judgemental.

Just to say, a very warm welcome to the boards to Sylvia G, Catiel and Donna in Sx. I see Ann has been keeping this thread going, and good for her. She also runs a Greaders thread on here, about books to read, which is lovely, even if I do not belong to it, because of my enforced absences from home.
I am 63, retired and have four children, ten grandchildren, and at the last count, three Gt.grandchildren. They only let me know if there is an increase when it comes to birthdays and Christmas!!!!
I like to garden, heavily, and OH has an allotment, read, mainly American detective novels, cooking,also in a big way (eat you heart out Gordon,Jamie,Gary et al, I could easily give you a run for your money, even if I do say myself) crochet , crosswords, jigsaws,and watching the box. Sad innnit.
I came on Genes to do my tree, long since accomplished, with the exception of three people, but enjoy 'talking' to other people on here, as I do not get out much, these days.
By and large they are a very friendly bunch

Youve all made me feel guilty, its years since I baked.....oh what a heavenly smell it is.

Last Christmas Dave bought me a long wanted Westie puppy, she is my baby and has helped me through a tough year. Wanted a Westie for so many years, she is a real cutie (Meg), but naughty lol.

Surprising as it may seem even I have times when I log on, then log straight off, theres enough hassle in the world without walking into it on here, for me GR should be a place to chit chat and have a laugh and wind down at the end of the day.

I posted on your bird thread a while ago,post on the Rhyming Thread and try to help on the other boards with family history, but only add now and then to others. I think the more I read, the more I realise that other people are just like me..lol...afraid to post most of the time. And also, my life is up and down and I can't always stay on here that long and keep the thread going. And (as others have said) if you try, you get ignored as it is sometimes a closed shop. I was berated a couple of years for saying that (but it was true at the time) so I am now careful where I post.
Thank you for this. it has brought a lot of us out of the woodwork, so to speak...

Ive been a member since 2003 I think it is....some what stuck on my tree, many of mine were Deryshire, its the Irish lot making it hard.

I use face book alot, mainly because alot of my family are on there in Canada and Ive found so many of my old school friends, but I will start using GR again. Couldnt agree more, life is to short for the rows on here.

I best get on with dinner.

I will pop back, but like everyone its a busy week (and because of work Ive done very little christmas shopping) xx
