Having looked the baptisms of Ann Eliza;

Name: Anna Eliza Haggis
Record Type: Baptism

Father's Name: Thomas Haggis
Mother's Name: Eliza Haggis

Her fathers name & occupation are the same as in the marriage record. So most likely one & the same person.

Regarding Hannahs marriage to Edward.
I think with her age being classed as a minor. Is because the age of adulthood then was 21.

Also I found a different date to the one you stated.

Name: Hannah Elizabeth Haggis
Spouse Name: Edward Green
Spouse Age: Full Age
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 28 Oct 1837
Parish: Saint George In The East
County: Middlesex
Borough: Tower Hamlets
Father Name: Thomas Haggis

Syliva (IC). I'm in a pickle and need a fresh pair of eyes. Which is probably not the wisest statement but I'll risk it.....

waves, and ducks.

I know she of the research wizardry is busy. Wish to ask you a question??

I have Hannah Elizabeth Haggis, born about 1821 Poplar Middlesex UK. Father Thomas Haggis (occupation Mariner), no mother.

Sources are 1841, 1851 and 1881 England Census.

I have her marriage on 24 Apr 1837 to Edward Green in St George Middlesex. Father Thomas Haggis, mariner. Marriages and Banns states she is a minor. If she were born in 1821 and married in 1837 she would have been 16.

So I went looking for her birth. I'm never satisfied.

In the London England Births and baptisms 1813-1906 I have a birth for Anna Eliza Haggis 24 Apr 1818. Father Thomas Haggis, mother Eliza. The date of birth shows on the entry for the baptism on 11 May 1818 at St Dunstan and All Saints, Tower Hamlets.

If It is her birth (1818) this would make her 19 when she married.

There is also another child Eliza Haggis. Born to Thomas and Elizabeth Haggis. Baptism record shows date of birth 14 Apr 1882 and baptism 14 Jul 1882. St Anne Limehouse. Is this her sister.

Regarding the Hannah/Anna names. Hannah Elizabeth Green (Anna /Eliza Green) had a daughter Hannah Maria Green who became Anna Maria Green.

As I said, I need a fresh pair of eyes!!!

Well it's quite obvious that the poor woman has to toil in gainful employment right up until Christmas.

Will leave this thread in a state of immobile animation until after the silly season.

Oh it's nothing consequential. Just glad that the one I know as you is you and not someone else. And you are correct there are more.

Bit worried about Ms Janey.

Trying to think of a conversational statement which will initiate a response. Let me see.

When the Australian senate resumes early next year, if it does not pass the Emission Trading Scheme, we will have a double dissolution of our parliament and an election. This will seriously curtail our prime minister's junkets around the globe, and jeopardise a State election which has aready been arranged for March 2010.

There you go. A piece of inconsequential chit chat.

Hi AuntyS ~~~~~

I've been me for yonkers!

.............. ever since I was born in fact!!

I've had this name for most of the 6 or so years I've been on GR ... since I realised there were a number of other Sylvias AND figured out how to change my board name.

I really am in Canada, but not close to JaneyC

so I'm not sure what you're on about????

The one after my whinge about squishing threads. T'was a soppy nauseating video with cute furry and feathered critters singing a Christmassy type song.

Retreats into the background!!

You are a different Sylvia aren't you?????? OK get that glinty gleam out of your eyes. You are, you are!!

That'd be right. Leave me to face the music, wondering what I've done wrong!!

Tentative small wave in general direction of Canada. Might as well include you all.

I'm in the mire for deleting my post, regardless.

He goes out there .... and I stay home in the warmth!

Gawd ................ I used to wear 3" stilettos regularly, and quite often 4", back in the 60s! And that involved standing at lab benches, as well as dances.

and I was 5' 8½" to start off with!!!

AuntySherlock Report 7 Dec 2009 20:45

Well I have two, one on each foot actually!! One I have made to retreat quite a bit by constantly pulling my toe out at an angle. The other refuses to budge.

It is the result of wearing stilletto heels during my childhood. What we women suffer in the cause of fashion.

I can also add three gnarled, knobbly toes, which have been broken at different times in my life and grown back au naturel!!

Hey I'm doing good in the whinging stakes.

And don't worry about being a crone. It is one of the most sought after roles in the plays and pantomimes!!!

And now I must be off to work. Oh noooo, I feel another whinge coming on. Why am I working at my age. I should be retired and sitting at home in my granny rocking chair. No don't answer that question. It's either work or murder the OH!!!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 7 Dec 2009 20:30

Hi Aunty

so I'm an old crone now am I???

you didn't succeed in digging yourself out of that one!

I only have a small bunion .................................. but it got irritated this summer, and my foot swelled to twice its size. Try getting ANY shoes on that!
