That's really the only thing I'm a bit worried about. I don't want a perfectly even all-the-same-length set like my nan had.

Good for you, that's the attitude to take.

I believe, today they are made to look like real teeth, nothing like they used to be.

Hello Foggy.

You know what? I thought to myself this morning on the way there, if I can get through a hip replacement without problems, I can damn well stand losing a few teeth! LOL

Thanks Alice. I think these days they put the proper set in right away. I could have had it all done by next weekend, but there were no appointments available. So I'll still have to be careful with eating, it's pretty uncomfortable at the mo, but I'll have all new teeth by the meet.....

Hi Teresa

I had my top gnashers out about 20-odd years ago now and they gave me a temporary denture to put in until the gums had receded and settled. I can't say that was very pleasant, but when all had settled, I was fitted with the proper set - and what a relief!!

I don't know if they follow the same procedure now, but please don't worry. I don't have to use any fixative and once a week, use Ster....t to soak 'em overnight.

Honestly, you'll be fine - uncomfortable in the early stages, but no more fear of the dentist (lol)!

I'll probably forget to take them out to start with anyway LOL. Well it's a new experience isn't it?

My OH uses FIx..... ent, and never leaves them out to soak, just cleans them wth toothpaste night and morning. Hes had the same set for over twenty years. You may have to change them from time to time as your gums shrink with age but that shouldnt be too traumatic.
I am not happy with my current dentist, his work is ok but he cant cope with the fact that if I lie back too far I cant breathe and will panic. My old dentist was able to work where it was comfortable for me.

You might need to go back a couple of times if you have any sore spots under the plate once its fitted, (a bit like wearing new shoes) but it takes five mins for the dentist to adjust and you dont have to leave them behind ;o)

Thank you Christine, (a sensible answer LOL), that's very useful to know.

I won't mind going back once the teeth are out, it's what they did and kept doing to my original teeth that scared me. I'd already made my mind up years ago to stop having fillings, I'd had enough, and besides, they only fell out again, so it was pay pay pay pay pay.

Then the deep-root filling finally put me off going to the dentist forever. I never ever wanted to go through that again. AND it was taken out a couple of years later grrr

Next question, do you still have to keep going back to the dentist after the full set are in?

(I won't mind cos there will be no fillings and no nasty scrapes sending me jumping up to the ceiling. *shudders*

Your teeth are lovely BC, and really do your smile justice. I only hope I get some as good.

Either way, I think they will always be better than the real set, because they have always been odd and wonky, but never enough to warrant a brace to straighten them lol.

Lol at Joy! Well, TW, as you know me and Mr Murphy go back a long long way/...he's the dentist who gives me a smackeroo when we meet! *points to luscious mouth...fifteen years I have had these and never a problem, even when I laugh a lot! I soak em in Steradent and avoid eye contact when I do it...

I let them fall once, it was Christmas Eve, and they snapped in two. So I fixed them with Superglue and Mr Murphy said he couldnt have done a better job! pmsl....

Oh the tales I could tell!

Ooo, I was terrified this morning. Not been to this dentist before, so didn't know what to expect. What I got was a gorgeous and patient one in his thirties. That settled me a bit. LOL..

No seriously, what fixatives are recommended, (if they aren't a perfect fit, and let's face it, they are NHS gnashers lol), and what sterilizers to soak em in at night?
