G'day....:>))

Happy Orsetralier day.

In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for footy matches, going to the beach and barbies. He created night for going prawning, sleeping and barbies. God saw that it was good.
Evening came and morning came and it was the second Day.

On the Second Day God created water – for surfing, swimming and barbies on the beach. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Third Day.

On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants – to provide tobacco, malt and yeast for beer and wood for barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day.

On the Fourth Day God created animals and crustaceans for chops, sausages, steak and prawns for barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Fifth Day.

On the Fifth day God created a bloke – to go to the footy, enjoy the beach, drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Sixth Day.

On the Sixth Day God saw that this bloke was lonely and needed someone to go to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the barbie with. So God created Mates, and God saw that they were good blokes. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day.

On the Seventh Day God looked around at the twinkling barbie fires, heard the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the Blokes, smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns and God saw that it was good. well almost good. God saw that the blokes were tired and needed a rest.

So God created Sheilas – to clean the house, bear children, wash, cook and clean the barbie. God saw that it was not just good, it was better than that, it was bloody great!

IT WAS AUSTRALIA !

I came from the dream time, from the dusty red soil plains,
I am the ancient heart - the keeper of the flame,
I stood upon the rocky shore, I watched the tall ships come,
For forty thousand years I'd been the first Australian.

We are one but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come,
we share a dream,
And sing with one voice,
I am, you are, we are Australian.

I came upon the prison ship bound down by iron chains
I cleared the land, endured the lash and waited for the rains.
I'm a settler, I'm a farmer's wife on a dry and barren run
A convict then a free man, I became Australian.
I'm the daughter of a digger who sought the mother lode
The girl became a woman on the long and dusty road
I'm a child of the depression, I saw the good times come
I'm a bushy, I'm a battler, I am Australian.

We are one but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come,
we share a dream,
And sing with one voice,
I am, you are, we are Australian.

I'm a teller of stories, I'm a singer of songs
I am Albert Namatjira, and I paint the ghostly gums
I am Clancy on his horse, I'm Ned Kelly on the run
I'm the one who waltzed Matilda, I am Australian.
I'm the hot wind from the desert, I'm the black soil of the plains
I'm the mountains and the valleys, I'm the drought and flooding rains
I am the rock, I am the sky, the rivers when they run
The spirit of this great land, I am Australian.

We are one but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come,
we share a dream,
And sing with one voice,
I am, you are, we are Australian.

Av a good un.

Dear all

Wot! No posts?

This is not very ethical. I have now done my stint at Waroona and hopefully will be able to spend more time on here. Do I hear groans of dismay?

Although I haven't been on the 'General' or 'Chat' Boards I have still been doing some research into my family and trying to put a bit of flesh on the skeletons.

I hope that you are all well and I would like to wish all Aussies a Happy Australia Day and may the weather be kind to you where ever you are

Hi folks~~

Perse,~~~ the little finger on my right hand has an arthritic joint which developed just before the Dr diagnosed this trapped Ulnar nerve ( affects little finger and top of the next ring finger). I don't have medication for either.
Only inflammatory tabs I am still taking for my ankle I sprained Xmas eve,and Co Codomol painkillers which seem to help all my creaky bits.lol
I don't like rattling like a box of pills :))
Sorry to her you suffer with O Arthritis Barbra, and your OH has been diagnosed with arthritis Perse. Edit you too Allan:(
Hubby has it in his hands, as did his grandfather.
My grandmother suffered with it and was prescribed Iodine Oil to rub in , plus medication.. that's over 40 yrs ago !
Heaven only knows what would happen if my dau had to take medication, she has an aversion to tablets of any sort, since getting a boiled sweet stuck in her throat when she was young. MIL gave it to her.. I wouldn't give them to her !!
Fortunately they do some over the counter medicines now in soluble form , 2 she have to use have been 1st) for headaches or cold symptoms and 2nd) for upset stomach / diarrhoea .
She had to have course of antibiotics last yr before having an op for an ingrowing toenail, our lady Doc was great and prescribed her it in liquid form, like for children. Our male Doc more or less said she was a big baby and said she she take the tablets at her age..... needless to say we had few heated words !!. Both Dr's have retired now, the practise has been taken over; The Dr I see now is a young British guy and has very good 'bedside manners' , he listens and is very thoughtful and helpful, the rest are of foreign extract, so I tend to go to him.. you get a rapport I find if you keep the same Dr. I'm not racist at all... the male Dr in the previous practise was British, but many like myself used to avoid him if possible.lol Even my eldest cousin, a Nursing Sister on the ward in which he trained said he was a grumpy so and so, he did mellow a bit with age tho:)lol

Hello all, again just a quick visit as I still have a heavy workload.

Sandie, I hope that your back is soon better. I have a painful shoulder at the moment but have put it down to being in the car too much. Hopefully I can slow down after Australia Day as I am supposed to finish at Waroona next Tuesday.

Tony, the floods look devastating. I'm not sure how I would cope if I was affected.

In my own little way I'm helping after the bushfire at Lake Clifton. I have been asked by Waroon Shire to inspect some of the damaged properties to make sure that they are fit for habitation. This is in those cases where people are making hardship claims for proerties, which although damaged (mainly by smoke) are still habitable

Persey, sorry to hear that your OH has arthritis. I can sympathise with him as my thumbs are affected. I find it difficult to write these days and on a bad day my writing, which was never the best, looks like a demented spider has fallen in a bottle of ink. Some days are good and some not so good!

Barbra, I look at photos of when I was younger and I think that person was kidnapped and replaced by a grumpy old b*gger.

Persephone Report 20 Jan 2011 19:09

Sandie, my other half has finally been diagnosed with arthritis. He will get me to sort papers for him (especially in the winter months) as his fingers won't do as required. He has been told that he must keep them exercised along with the rest of him.
X-rays have revealed that his mid and lower back pain is caused by small osteophytes... and he has narrowed intervertebral discs but his sacroiliac joints are normal.
I had to look up some of these words eg osteophytes which sounds like bones fighting and I think my definition sums it up much better than the medical ones.

Ann - I really must get my bus timetable sorted so I am on the same bus as you - I might've been able to pick up some good bargains there. Goodness only knows where I would put them, I have that many bookshelves and cupboards full of books. That's why I tend to try and get the one's on our greaders list from the libraries.

Thought we would have savs for tea tonight Tony, I always think of Norman Gunston or Barry Mckenzie when we were going to eat them.

I was young once too Barbara but don't think I ever did the beautiful look.
LOL

Lol Perse, can't top that.

Hello all another dark damp miserable day here. Hope all are well. Been clearing out books to take to the charity shops, in the past two weeks we have taken 8 carrier bags full (on the bus), not all on one day of course. Still more to go, they seem to mount up. Trying not to buy any at the moment as I have a load still to read.

Two builders (Dave and Stuart) are seated either side of a table in a pub when a well-dressed man enters, orders a beer and sits on a stool at the bar.

The two builders start to speculate about the occupation of the suit

Dave: - I reckon he's an accountant.

Stuart: - No way - he's a stockbroker

Dave: - He ain't no stockbroker! A stockbroker wouldn't come in here!

The argument repeats itself for some time until the volume of beer gets the better of Dave and he makes for the toilet. On entering the toilet he sees that the suit is standing at a urinal. Curiosity and the several beers get the better of him.

Dave: - 'Scuse me.... no offence meant, but me and me mate were wondering what you do for a living?

Suit: - No offence taken! I'm a Logical Scientist by profession

Dave: - Oh? What's that then?

Suit: - I'll try to explain by example ... Do you have a goldfish at home?

Dave: - Er ... mmm ... well yeah, I do as it happens!

Suit: - Well, it's logical that you keep it either in a bowl or in a pond.

Which is it?

Dave: - It's in a pond!

Suit: - Well it's reasonable to suppose that you have a large garden then?

Dave: - As it happens, yes I have got a big garden..

Suit: - Well then it's logical to assume that, in this town, if you have a large garden then you have a large house?

Dave: - As it happens I've got a five bedroom house ..... built it myself!

Suit: - Well given that you've built a five bedroom house it's logical to assume that you haven't built it just for yourself and that you are quite probably married? And with a family?

Dave: - Yes I am married, I live with my wife and four children.

Suit: - Well then it is logical to assume that you are sexually active with your wife on a regular basis?

Dave: - Yep! Five times a week!

Suit: - Well then it is logical to suggest that you don't masturbate very often?

Dave: - Do what? Not me, mate!

Suit: - Well there you are! That's logical science at work!

Dave: - How's that then?

Suit: - Well from finding out that you had a goldfish, I've told you about your sex life!

Dave: - I see! That's pretty impressive. Thanks mate!

Both leave the toilet and Dave returns to his mate.

Stuart: - I see the suit was in there. Did you ask him what he does?

Dave: - Yep! He's a logical scientist!

Stuart: - What's that then?

Dave: - I'll try and explain. Do you have a goldfish?

Stuart: - Nope

Dave: - Well then, you're a wanker

Must stop skimming was wondering why Sandie's hubbie had been busy smashing mirrored units etc.

I do everything!

No, it just seems like it... live with messie jessie so it's constant tidy upping on my part. I'm always getting into trubble tho he will put out a clean cup and go away and then come back to make his drink and find cup is gone. It is in the dishwasher. I do that with lots of things that he leaves out to use.

Both daughters have married chaps that will do housework and meals etc. My younger son-in-law is very tidy and my daughter said to me, I don't know how you live with dad. She forgets she lived with us both for over 23 years.
