Rain, windy and cold here. My gardens are snow free at last....for how long ..? Not sure what to do with my nan's ceramic 'pot' , it's like and urn and is 15 inches high, we usually empty it and store it over the winter, in case it cracks, but hubby planted perennials in it, and we somehow forgot and it got left outside , still planted. The plants are flourishing despite 4 inches of snow on them. I don't know what they are , not really suitable for the pot tho, they don't overhang it and seem to be quite small in height... so they will be transplanted later . We've had quite a few severe frosts so I think I'll risk it and leave it where it is for now. Hubby's come a very long way in his knowledge of gardening since we got married.. he didn't know a daisy from a tulip, but veg is his forte. He also likes to plant the annuals for show in pots, but I sort out the shrubs and perennials.

Hi ladies~~
It's a bad time of yr for the garden,.... one reason I stick to hardy perennial especially where we live.
Been windy here, recyclable food bin was at the end of the patio , and the main bin tho almost full had moved a few yards :(...... this morning.
Hubby's next 'project' is to knock down the front wall and make another 'drive' to put dau's car on .... so it is off the road.. It could fit on our existing drive ,but they'd have to be swapping them around all the time if there were cos there'd be 3 in a line ! 4 if I bought another one !! No need tho :) Dau used to use mine, but then needed to use it for work occasionally ..., quite often now she has promotion and my insurers or others wouldn't insure a named driver for work purposes, so we part ex'd mine and bought a new one for her, where I and hubby are named drivers... but the upkeep is now her responsibility :) If hubby does go ahead with his 'project' that it would probably mean digging out my Siberian Pea Tree, which is pendulous with small yellow flowers and extremely hardy... as the name suggests, I hope I can replant it some where else. It maybe too old now tho:( Shame your pot has broken Maz., mine is sentimental, being my nan's.It must be over 60yrs old at least .I've had it for 30yrs !.It's extremely heavy when empty, I can't move it when it is planted. Let's hope it survives.. we've already had a few heavy frosts!. Rain forecast,so hope it's warmer!

hello girls, no rain as yet today but skies are very grey and everywhere is still wet from previous few days/ nights of rain.Lots of mud around but this morning is the first time in ages where I didn't see any ice. My poor friend Nora is in hospital with a broken knee. When she was in the park with her labrador , a friends dog ran into her legs, knocking her off her feet. An accident of course but ironic that she had managed not to slip over during all the ice and snow and now this. They say it will be a long recovery. Guess the dog won't be getting any long walks for a while. Lois is growing well and getting stronger. She pulls like billyo when we are on the return journey lol. Doesn't help arm probs much. I have to go for fasting blood tests in the morning. I will also have Ava for the day as Emma has to take her horse up to the vets at Northumberland in the afternoon and wouldn't be back in time to collect her from nursery so it was decided to leave Ava with me. Have just been ordering my online shopping and am convinced prices have shot up.Have always used T*SCO but am considering trying where your son works $andie.

Hi girls~~~
Drizzle and foggy here and don't feel like going out in it :(
I still use both shops you mentioned Paula, whilst son's place of work hasn't raised their VAT yet ,it obviously doesn't affect food ; I only go to Te*co once a week but have noticed a hike in their prices and of course I have 10% discount where son works.
Sorry to hear about your friend Nora, as you said ..ironic she braved the snow and ice without a mishap and now this. Hope it doesn't take as long for her recovery as suggested. I fell in slushy snow Christmas eve and my ankle is still black, it's causing pain in my hip now , cos you over compensate when you limp. A similar thing almost happened to me as Nora: a neighbour Meg who is 90 was walking her white Alsation ( never on a leash.. won't let anyone else walk her !), a week ago, our hill was slushy , I was walking up behind her and her dog recognised me, came bounding towards me and skidded to a halt at my feet . Thankfully, cos she would have knocked me off my feet, probably knocking me backwards and I would have cracked head !
Hope all goes well with your blood tests tomorrow:)
Food prep time ! Oh sorry shouldn't say that if it's a 'fasting blood test' But I assume you can eat til about 9pm ?

just had chilli con carne. $andie my appointment is 8-30 am and they ask you to fast for 12 hours prior to that so am ok. Have had a quarter to ten appointment before which was hard. You would think when you are diabetic they wouldn't make you wait so long. Next Thursday its diabetic clinic check up. Sorry to hear your ankle is still painful.Know what you mean about over compensating causing pain elsewhere too. Colin, Noras husband rang to say they have put pins and plates in her knee and now she has a plaster above the knee and another below with calipers on. She won't be allowed home until she can manage stairs, though how she can do that as they have also said she must not try to put any weight on the foot until the knee is healed. by the way, my T*sco bill was high last week too and V.A.T. definitely shouldn't have been on then. I wouldn't care but I didn't buy any toiletries, cake, biscuits, sweets, crisps or cleaning items both weeks.Think I will have to economise somewhere. How are you doing Maz?

just watching the news.... so much trouble and disaster around the world :>( Very cold and windy today, I was glad to get back home with the dogs. Gary has been off work so he kept an eye on Ava (who was having a nap anyway) while I walked the dogs. He has a heavy cold/flu which is affecting his asthma. I got a pretty little basket of flowers delivered today from a friend in Bamburgh. She thought my birthday was today but its not till monday, still it was a lovely surprise. Why are they cutting the buses Maz?

Hi Girls~~ Up late again, ankle is playing my hip up, a limp affects the rest of your limb. I walked to the hairdressers today, 10 mins each way ! and I think that played it up a bit. As for the hairdressers I just had a dry cut, hair had gone wild and was getting on my nerves. I go for low mainenance, I finger dry my hair nowadays,it's curly, but had gone like a bush..grows outwards ! Will have to check on the colour tomorrow in the daylight to see if I can live with the greying roots.lol
Think it's the petrol/diesel increases that are causing the cut back on the buses or fare increases.Maz. None of of my lot are happy with the petrol increases, they all need their cars to get to work!
Sorry to hear Gary has asthma ,Paula ,certainly colds are worse for for asthma sufferers...and there are plenty of them around this time of yr ! The Co Codomal hasn't kicked in yet, so i'll take another.. I can take 2, and haven't had any others today..and shall say goodnight/goodmorning.

Morning all~~~
Another wet and windy one here!! Yes, the damp weather sure does affect your joints, It's been over 5 weeks since I twisted my ankle, it's still painful and my hip....shouldn't grizzle , when I get back to my power walking I'm sure it will improve>:) Not a major prob tho it may affect me when I get older ! I've put on weight since not doing my daily walk, so I have to get back to it asap.
