That is a lovely thing to do Val, I am sure the recipients are very grateful.
Bridget, good luck with the quiz night, sounds as if it will be chaotic but fun tonight with all those people.
Bridget do you think you suffer with a mild form of agorophobia?
We are off out in half an hour to have coffee with our friends. The fellow is an ex golf friend of OH's who has a serious lung disease, poor man he has to have oxygen all the time but still has trouble breathing. A year ago he was quite fit and still playing golf.

I have been trying to reply Bridget, but my computer kept freezing and I couldn't fathom out why, I have just discovered that the problem was with the internet provider. Seems to be sorted now - I hope.
My jersies are children's jersies which I give to Hospice,Church or a disadvantaged school a the beginning of winter. I alwys decide at the last minute who will receive them.

good morning everyone.
Val it sounds as if you had a good day yesterday and I hope that you have another today.
It is 07,30 hrs here and daylight is with us, it was still very dark when I got up about 30 minutes ago. I can hear some birds cheeping, they are quite loud but I cannot see them and now some other birds gave started cheeping but I can,t see them either...very frustrating, A couple of days ago I saw a tiny brilliantlly coloured bird which I have not seen here before, but gone in a flash when it realised that I was nearby.
OH has his Quiz night tonight and normally about 14 to 20 people come along, it is held in the local English bar and we have great fun,,well last night he went down there to watch football and learned that 40+ are expected tonight, so we need to print more sets of of answer pages and also the picture and re-arrange the letters pages. Still it should be a good night for the Pub. They always supply very good finger food as well and in these difficult financial times it should be a good evening for them.
The owners of the bar are delightful and because I was not with OH they sent me a delicious desert when he was coming home. Most of our friends now know why I do not go out as often as I used to and are very good at "looking after me".
My hair also needs a trim but the local hairdressers are really not a high standard and as I have a short hair cut it must look what I call sharp otherwise I feel uncomfortable. My hair has its' own way and becomes quire wavy when it grows.
Val you mention "little Jersey " can you tell me how you display them, do they dress dolls?
Well time for a coffee so signing off now
Best wishes to everyone
Bridget

Goodmorning all,
Nice to see that you had a good day Bridget, hope to-day is eq1ually good if not better.
It is 7 a.m. now, it seems as it to-day might be a little cooler, I certainly hope so. The Garden Service was here yesterday to cut the lawn so the grass looks much better, I love the smell of freshly cut grass and to-day my domestic worker comes and no matter what the weather I always like to give her a meal with meat and vegies, haven't decided what yet.
Am looking forward to a hair cut this afternoon, I say cut but it is really just a trim, but it does make such a difference to this very fine fluff..
I finished another little jersey yesterday to add to my collection, and started on the next one. I should have about 15 by the time winter comes round.

Good evening everyone
I have had a good day today, no concerns or anxiety so that is a mile stone on the way to being fully better. OH has gone out to watch football at the English Bar. He did ask me to go with him but i thought that a few hours with the men would be good for him.
I have just had a chat with my sister who lives in bath and she is getting over what sounds like a bad cold. We hope to see her in early June when her only son gets married, just a few weeks after my sons Church Blessing in Winchester.
I have done the ironing i was going to do tomorrow so that leaves some extra spare time.
I hope that you have all had a good day
Bye for now Bridget

It was my turn to busy today and I did not get up until very late for me. Managed to get quite a lot of washing done and dried outside which always makes everything smell so nice and fres. Then OH decided to change the computers around as one is quite old so we went downstairs to the large general room and started to disconnect the two comps which meant moving furniture and out came the hoover, floor had to be washed and the tiles washed as well. Then desks cleared all sorts of wires and connection disconected and OH put away the older comp. re arranged the layout of everything and I must say it all looks much nicer now. We are still left with one comp up stairs plus the ipad and downstairs there is an old but still working comp for visitors to use. The weather has been quite pleasant today and I managed to get some of the washing dry so I can do the ironing tomorrow.
We had Carbonarra for lunch which I always enjoy and still not sure what we will have this evening, so it will have to be something quick to prepare.
Well that is my day so far so sending you all positive thoughs and look forward to reading more entries later tonight or tomorrow.
Take Care

OH is keen at the moment that I do not lock myself away in another room so i have agreed that one of the computers is in the main living area, handy for making a coffee/tea etc and also to chat to each other from time to time.
I also like a G&T, my tipple the children call it so think i will go and have one right now.

Bridget, yes I did notice!!
I have been sitting here flitting between boards and e mails and procrastinating about all the letters I need to write to people. Have started one so will finish that later. Have chicken thighs cooking in the slow cooker for dinner so don't have much to o there, only decide whether to have jacket potatoes or rice. we eat our meal at 7pm but meet down in front of the TV for the news at 6 when we have our G&T.

Did you notice you are the 1000th entry...well done so now it is our new goal to reach 1100 entries!!
You have been busy, I have had a day off house work as we have had to do a complete spring clean of every room in the house as it was not brilliant when we arrived home. Must say I am looking forward to the first week of March when Jet and Joe our Cocker Spaniels go for a haircut as that will cut down quite a lot of the fluff!!
I hope that the weather is better tomorrow as today it has been grey and very wet!!!

Cleaned throuigh the kitchen, lounge and dining room and OH has put sealing strips round the bath and I have cleared out some of the old bottle in there so feel virtuous now. Meant to say wet and chilly here too.

Bridget I think it is a very good idea to invite the people who used to post here to join in again.
I haven't seen the thread about Poems and sayings so will take a peep.
Because of the heat to-day we once again had fruit salad for lunch so will make something a little more substantial this evening.
We are having a problem with mosquitoes at the moment having just got rid of the ants which invaded the kiitchen.
Enjoy your evening.

Valerie you are spot on we are coming up to the 1000th entry, I wonder who will get there. I was thinking of sending messages to the people who used to put entries on here to invite them back, any thoughts about this, This morning we did not rise until quite late as we had been out the night before and it was grey and wet outside so we had a cup of tea and just relaxed, with us both reading. We had to go into town to go to the bank and transfer some money to one of my sons, he sold a business a while ago and new that he moight go on a spending spree and then regret it so we have some in a special account and when he needs or wants some we just transfer it for him. It was quite pleasant when we drove into town and we had a delicious coffee but resisted the cakes,
Came home and had our main meal of the day, I find it which was a steak each , with mushrooms, tomato and tortilla which we had not used yesterday. To follow we were very naughty and had pancakes with chocolate sauce.
Tonight for super we will have something somewhat lighter, although haven't quite decided.
Actually I do not mind house work, not the everyday tidying etc but the real pull everything out, clean polish, re arrange furniture etc and when it all look so good and pictures and paintings re arranged, and the house smell so fresh and clean I feel very satisfied.
Whilst doing exactly that when last week I found a table cloth which I had started embroidering a few years ago so have decided to finish it.
have just looked out of the window and it is still raining heavily, the dogs are indoors lying on their special blanket and keep looking out of the patio doors and coming back an laying down again.
Well that is about all for now so will say goodbye and look forward to more entries.
I have just wondered if you have seen my other thread about Poems and sayings, if not please take a look and see if you can add to it. i am delighted with the entries so far.
Bye from Wet & Chilly Peniscola.

How is everyone to-day?
Thanks for the explanation about the pies Bridget, I didn't know that, so we learn something new every day.
I sat outside this morning at 5.30 a.m. to have coffee. it was so peaceful before the traffic and other noises started. The sun was just coming up and the clouds were pink, the sky was really pretty, the only things I could hear were the birds and the roar of the sea.
Housework never ends does it Mary? I must admit I would rather go out to work than do housework! However, being retired it's housework for me!
Went up to the supermarket to do some shopping, was back home by 9.30 a.m. thoroughly exhausted from the heat. I had closed all the windows and also closed the curtains and put the air-conditioner on before going out so the house was lovely and cool.
We are coming up to 1000 are we.
Take care.
Val.

AnninGlos, I do exactly the same as you with my handbag, and it has so far not been commented on.
Mary,Enjoy your meal this evening and the wine!
I have done all my washing today and most of it was dried outside and then a quick wizz in the tumbler meant no ironing either so it is all now back in the right places. OH and i had a small breakfast this morning and exchanged our cards. i have kept them all, goodness knows why but I cannot throw them away.
It sounds as if you had a bargain with your new bag, Mary, just don't forget which of the parts you have put your bits and pieces in. Early evening we are going to a birthday celebration for one of the chaps who lives here and as we have two Stephen King books which are brand new, and we already have the 1st Editions, so we are giving them both to him as a birthday present, I even found just the right wrapping paper in one of the draws of the book case.
We having been collecting first addition books which must be in very good or excellent condition for years, goodness knows what we shall do with them all if we ever have to down size. however we do make sure that they are all well cared for and we have book shelves and book cases in every room.
I also collect old recipe books but have bought any for a couple of years but i may have a look around when I am back in the UK for the wedding in may and the other wedding in June...
well that is all the news for now, take good care of yourselves, and have you noted that we are coming to another milestone on this thread??

Mary I have found that, if I put my handbag inside my flight back (carry on bag) at the check in desk and again going through security, then take it out again, nobody queries it.

Good morning all Well the sky is blue here in Spain but windy. I did all my washing on Saturday as we had been forcasted to have rain most of this week but it does not look like it will start today. Yesterday was another lovely day and we went a ride and ended up in Pego - about 30 minutes or so from Oliva. Had a walk and then sat outside a bar enjoying a glass of vino and people watching - a lovely way to pass an hour or so. Well my trip to the market did find me a bargain - well perhaps not that much of a bargain but it was what I needed. I am off to UK March 3rd to look after my mom for a couple of weeks - my sister flys to Australia tomorrow for 5 weeks - so the troops have been organised to look after mom - my cousin is in Cornwall now for 10 days then our eldest son and wife take over and then it is my turn - back to that bargain - I am only taking hand luggage and I wanted a small black bag which I could wear across my body and hopefully no one will tell me I have 2 pieces of hand luggage!! All my handbags are large so I found this smallish black leather one for 6 euros which has about 4 zipped parts to it so will be useful to organise my passport etc. Well hubby and I had breakfast together this morning - most unusual during a week day - I have normally fell fast asleep when I should be up - anyway he woke me this morning so I got up and we breakfasted together. Tonight we decided we would have various tapas for our evening meal with a bottle of wine. Well must be off - housework beckons. Love Mary xx
ps Well done Bridget for driving in Spain and Val that was a really touching story about the lady in church

Good morning everyone and have you remembered it is Valentines Day? There is a delightful story about Valentines day on BBC on line. i would have been delighted to save it but I wasn"t sure how to do so,,,,do read it as i think that it may surprise some people just how long Valentines Day has been a special day.
It is still dark and chilly here this morning so I shall make a cup of tea for us both and toddle back to bed and have a few more hours simply relaxing.
I will be back later, just had a lovely long message from my daughter in law explaining exactly what is happening on their church blessing day, I am really looking forward to it.
