Bridget - This is Lynda, Gerard's OH.

I was in care when I was 10-11 for 3 and a half months (in my experience it was not long enough) I was put there because my mother worked and left my brother and I with our older brother who was an abusive bully. One of the neighbours called Social Services because of screaming coming from our flat. We went "on the run" for a few weeks to evade them but they caught up with us. (that was fun)

Personally I enjoyed being there and didn't want to be returned to my mother (the children's court thought mother was best) - I got pocket money, I had foster sisters who were nice to me, good meals. a tidy and clean house to live in, Family time in the evening reading or watching TV. There was a lovely park opposite the house with an outdoor pool which was really nice and 2 lovely dogs to walk. The downside was I had to see mother and brothers once a week.

I hope that is helpful
Regards
Lynda

If so would you please share this experience with me.

Thank you

Good morning to everyone and so pleasing to see the "letter test" is continuing..

Your thoughts and comments for my sad situation is comforting. It is at times like mine that you realise just how much family and friends are,

The family are I touch with each other every day and my eldest son as usual has taken the place of "leader and final decision maker" at this sad and painful time. Amazingly one of my step sons who I always felt did not like me has been so kind and said how much I helped him.

The hospital would not allow me or any other members of the family talk to my daughter, this is painful for all of us........

You are all so kind

Bridget

David - I was in Miss Crabbe's class when the King died - I think we all cried too! :-(

David

David Report 4 May 2013 12:53

Thank you Tess
I didn't now the King of course.
I and the others cried because the adult teachers cried...
That's how young emotions work.
But the memory remains after all these years.

David, what a sad and moving moment it was for you and your classmates. A memory that has stayed with you all this time.

I hope that you have a lot of long-standing happy memories too.

David

David Report 4 May 2013 10:20

I remember as a child at school in a class taught by Miss Brown.
Another teacher obviously very upset came into the class room and whispered some thing into Miss Brown's ear.She burst into tears.
Then she composed herself and said to the class,
The King is dead.
Then we all burst into tears.

Bridget - thinking of you with prayers and good thoughts <3 at this difficult time. We are all in God's hands and he knows what is best for all of us, no matter how wrong or unfair life seems to be <3

We seem to have got to H - and as Bridget has done hers I will do mine:

HOLLOWAY - Where I have lived, shopped, worked and generally been around for over 33 years now - which is more than half my lifetime!
Pet HATES::
Old Balding men with earrings and long HAIR (what do they think they look like (Even Francis Rossi from Status Quo and David Seaman of Arsenal goalkeeping fame have rid themselves of their trademark ponytails) - and no I am not jealous (even though I have had little hair since I was 25! :-) )
HALITOSIS or bad breath - I can't understand why some people can't buy themselves a packet of Peppermints or the like.
I think that is enough Halliteration :-D

Love and prayers to all <3 :-) <3 :-) <3 :-)
Gerard
PS: Just to let you know that my OH is coping much better with the loss of her three lovely little ones

Please can you have positive thoughts or prayers for my only daughter. She does not want her name put on here or the reason she is in hospital. However she will be hospitalised for a few months.

So I am thinking about the "H".

Gerard, so sorry to hear about the loss of your dera Cats. You, your O.H. and Sox must miss them.
Well done for loosing all that weight and keeping it off. I am overweight (again) but am working on my fitness levels...
This brings me back to the alphabet ( really must keep up).

E is for EXERCISE. I go to sessions once a week, the key thing though is ENJOYMENT.

We are all supposed to enjoy ourseves in the sessions ... and we do.

F is for FRIENDS and FAMILY -

I may not be rich in mometary terms, but I am in FRIENDS and FAMILY.

Bridget, we too did not eat meat on FRIDAYS, so it was FISH and chips day.
At one time, when I lived on a (newish) mainly army, housing estate in Oxfoedshire, we had a mobile fish and fish van, thatt came round every FRIDAY.

So we lived in a cul-de-sac, ours was one of the raods that he pulled up in, so we didn't have far ro walk.
He rang a (very loud) bell to let everyone know that he had arrived.

- - - - - - - - - -

G is for GYMNASTICS.

Was no good at sport as a child, had bad branchitis, (so couldn't run) plus very poor hand/eye coordination, so couldn't hit a ball with a bat.

However, I wished that I had a teacher to teach gymnastics as I was quite flexible.
When given the chance to "experiment" in the gym, at my new school, I was unable to jump high enough to get onto and horse or box, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't climb the ropes.
Balance was terrible, so couldn't walk along the beam either!

:-(

However, now I have three GRANDSONS, the younger two (aged nine and eight) go to GYMNASTICS and they are enjoying themselves.

They don't know that it was a childhood dream of mine so they are not living my dreams for me.

It is the reason that they now stay at my house most week-ends, their new gym training isclose to me and they live over 40 miles away.

So GYM makes me GLAD.

------------------

I am managing to get out and about quite a bit these days, but the downside is that I have less time and energy to spend on GR. Will try to keep up to date thoughas much as I can.

Thank you Berona and Bridget for your kind words. Fortunately for us we still have one of our lovely cats to look after us. However, Sox is fourteen going on fifteen, when he goes to Rainbow Bridge, then we will get a new cat, but at the moment we think he needs to get used to being on his own.
