Belated Happy Anniversary greetings, Gerard. Our Spring was hotter than usual with temps much higher than expected, then, when Summer arrived, it brought lower temps and rain (which we don't normally see much of in Summer) and then, all of a sudden, it was gone and Autumn was here. It seems like you are having a Summer like we had.

Well I have no idea why I haven't been on - just been a little bit busier than usual.
Well this week I had the privilege of doing the flowers in my church - such a nice thing to be able and allowed to do.
OH and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary on Thursday (the longest day) - shortest day for Berona!! - and we had a very special Chinese meal, and we got the chance to dress up too.
It's been such a miserable June weather-wise I am sure that we can't talk about gardens and etc.
Keep well everybody and I'll be back on here soon <3
Gerard :-)

Good for you Bridget, losing weight like that. I suppose you feel much better for it too. I lost weight after having my thyroid gland removed,11 years ago, but my dress size has remained the same - 24-26. Unfortunately, most stores only stock up to size 24 and now that I am more 26, I have great difficulty in buying clothes. Because I am unable to walk around shops, I have to either get my daughter to shop at a 16-26 shop, or purchase online. Why do they think that after size 24, we look better if we just wear a tent??? It is impossible to buy nice dresses, designed to suit the larger figure. And why do they all show us the designs being worn by models younger than 30 and nowhere near our size?

So sorry not to have been on here since the 9th, but then no one else has either!!! Maybe everyone is just busy.
We have been quite busy and have helped our friend John who is in his 80s and his wife who is somewhat younger has gone back to the UK to live with her elderly mother. John will be joining her in a weeks time. So another English family has left ~Peniscola. I am watching the Antiques Road Show whilst I am writing this , does anyone else like this or similar programs ?
Well time to feed Jet and Joe so must say good night to you all.

Ooops! I usually say well done or similar to the first person on a new page, didn't do so yesterday so my apology to Jan, I am always chuffed when I am reminded how successful this thread has been, we discuss almost everything, from worries and concerns, where we live, what we like and dislike, our fortunes and ower losses, etcetc.
So WELL DONE to you all. :-) :-D
Very peaceful here this morning, the church bells have been pealing,I always find this very relaxing, the trees and plants are still and the sun is shining. Along with that I feel very comfortable and relaxed and I hope that most of you feel the same.
My younger sister who lives in Bath will be visiting very soon along with her husband, they will be here for about 5 days so really looking forward to seeing her, haven't seen each other for about 14 months... I am now determined to get back on track re loosing weight, with jubilee celebrations,my birthday I have not been keeping on track...have not added wheight but neither have I lost any.... I have now gone from size 22/24 to 18 I am so pleased but would like to go down one or two more sizes....my aim is todo this ready for shhhhhh (Christmas).!
Well that is about all for now,if anything exciting happens I will be back, also will pop in later to see if anyone has had time to add any news etc.
How are all your gardens doing, mine is quite good and colourful but my roses do not look to good, any advice welcome, the leaves are turning brown??
Bridget.

Thank you all for your comments. I am so tired and really would like to sleep right now but then I will not sleep tonight. Never satisfied,,,,,,well not really!
The sun is shining away, the garden looks very good and my plants are surviving, I am delighted to say.
I haven't done anything special today except become more and more annoyed with my Ancestor Joshua Jukes who was born in Wiltshire...he appears to haves several wives, a bit of a philanderer, and on some census he is in two different places...he must have walked from one house to another!!!! Has anyone ever had a pet that somehow had Flees!!!!! ? We really do not know how or where J & J have got theirs and we do have medication and some rather expensive items on the neck which is supposed to stop this...I am at a loss as their vet said he had never seen them with Flees but the local people who cut their coat occasionally said that they both have them......Any suggestions how to manage this and /or prevent it happening again?
Well time to walk J& J around the house, 3 different levels and the house is in the centre of the plot and de-head any flowers that need to be tidied .
Berona, I know exactly what you mean about a certain Religious group, when we lived in Frinton on Sea in Essex UK we had them call quite frequently. At first I even invited them in bu in the end I had to write to their head office to say I no longer wished to have any member visit our house. Tess, I loved Penang, when we visited their with our four children when I was married to my first Husband, we stayed at a hotel but right now I cannot recall the name...will have to go and look now...OH getting older is a nuisance sometimes. How fortunate you were to have lived there.
Have a good evening and I will start to add on here more frequently
Bridget, :-)
OK Of course I remembered the hotel as soon as I stopped writing!!
Shangri-la Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, Malaysia
Batu Ferringhi Beach
The Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa takes its name from an old Malay folk song that also means 'a feeling of love'. It is little wonder where this beautiful resort takes its inspiration from, as guests will fall in love with its luxurious setting.
The resort has played host to some of the world’s most recognisable names; from royalty and prime ministers to celebrities and the rich and famous. Through the years, ours guests have included 'Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous' host Robin Leach, romance novelist Barbara Cartland, Hollywood celebrity Stephanie Powers, former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk and former Chinese Presidents Jiang Zemin, Li Peng and Hu Jin Tao.
With a long heritage in Penang, the Rasa Sayang has borne witness to the state’s transformation from a free port to an industrialised one, and as an island getaway to a rich heritage city. Perhaps Leach’s famous 'champagne wishes and caviar dreams' toast best sums up the resort’s promise of indulgence to its guest.
OOOHHH they were the days!!!
Bridget :-D

Belated birthday greetings, Bridget. Good to see your celebrations went well too. I don't think I mentioned before, that I am also pleased to know that things are going well for your step-son. I have often wondered about that.
I envied the Queen and Duke, being able to stand for so long, as they progressed down the river. They must have been very tired by the end of the day. I couldn't stand for more than a few minutes before looking for the nearest chair. This has made me become a different person to what I was, when I get J.W. people knocking on my door! Usually, they are middle-aged ladies, so I try to be nice - but my religion is in my heart and head and I can't stand there discussing it with strangers whilst my body is aching to sit down, so the longer they keep talking, the nastier I get. I don't like myself when I do it, but I wish they would leave me alone.

I remember the Coronation. I was living in warmer climes (Penang in Malaya), as dad was in the army.
So a very hot sunny day. Was getting over whooping cough but still managed to dress in my finery, including a new ribbon for my hair and a little bag.
Watched a little of the celebration on the tv this time.
Very envious of the Queen's ability to get up and down steps witout assistance not even a hanrail. I'm a few days younger than Prince Charles and I struggle with steps.
I'm still sorting out lods of paperwork. Am a bit of a hoarder, but am now trying to get rid of "stuff" prior to decorating. At least I have now got the base coat to go on the newly plastered walls (and ceilings) Have also chosen my paint colours.
Bridget, sounds like you had a great celebration for your birthday. You were bon the same year as my sister. So pleased that you had a nice chat with your daughter, an extra special present.
Back to the sorting, am trying to do some every day. One of these days it will be FINISHED!!!
Hello to everyone, Tess

a YOUNG 66 i am sure Bridget ! We Baby Boomers are a much younger generation than those of our parents..don't you think.
Where has this year gone ? We have all waited for the Queens Jubilee and now its gone, but the rain lingers on and on and on.....it will be mid summer soon and the only winter items I have discarded are socks, and long sleeve jumpers..otherwise no difference !!
I think that is why we have all not had the energy to come on the diary...for when the weather doesn't rain, we are out in the garden getting rid of the weeds, and rescuing our veg !!
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Good morning from sunny and warm Peniscola in Spain. My birthday on the 5th was amazing and such fun. We had 15 people turn up at 18.30hrsand the last six did not leave until around 04hrs on the 6th !!
The weather was very good, the food and drink went very well and we all,Laughed, chatted, discussed and enjoyed the music....I cannot remember how long ago it was that I received 16 birthday cards, all the children telephoned, I chatted to all the grandchildren even if they are to young to talk back. My stepson took his three children and met up with my army son and his family and they all went to see the magnificent celebrations of our Queen...
My daughter made me cry becauseshewasthe chatted to me for about 15 minutes, something she has not done fora long time..
Yesterday I was completely worn out.......did all the washing it dried in no time and we are all spick and span again.
We are going to shop now, beer on special offer......
Hope you are all well
Bridget now 66 !

Hi Everyone
Well what a time we all have been having in London = Can't go anywhere without seeing Union flags and pictures of the Queen and she is looking so well and healthy, I too remember seeing the Coronation on a Black and white 9" TV screen when I was at primary school (we were the first family in the street to have a television)
I've had several new contacts on GR keeping me busy - one of which got me reconnected with Bridget's family tree - I also had quite a close connection with someone directly related to my Great Aunt Emma!
It is great to read all the news and yes we are getting lax on here, but hey, time flies and before you know it a week has gone.
Must dash now - time to take OH to her work (430 am) - will add some more later
Regards Gerard :-) <3

Yes, Ann, we saw it all on TV - both direct and re-played. It brought back a lot of memories to me of being in Piccadilly on Coronation day (all night, actually!), and the atmosphere of the crowds. There have been varying types of celebrations here. Nothing spectacular in comparison with London, but also many attractions have had a 'jubilee' theme, and even radio stations playing the records which had something to do with it.

We are very lx on this thread these days aren't we?
Did those of you in foreign parts see any of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations? In the commonwealth countries or among ex pats were there celebrations?
We watched it all on TV and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle. Pity about the weather on Sunday, it would have looked so much better if it had been sunny, but that is Britain for you, wet bank holidays are part of our existence.
Hope all are well despite your absence anyway. good to see you Berona. :-)

Bridget - I just came in to extend my condolences to your son and his friends. I hate war (don't we all?). We have been told here that our boys will be coming home - but not exactly when - and in the meantime, we still occasionally have one or more returned in a coffin. My heart aches for the loss of the young life and what it does to their families.

Bridget my thoughts go to the family and friends of the friend of your son. When will it ever end?
On a happier note, I have read back and am so pleased for your stepson that he is to have his children and his home returned to him. Justice at last.
