Gerard, my team were beaten by the Swans too, a few days ago. Then Stoke beat us yesterday.
I have friends/family members who support both of those teams, so at least someone I know is happy.
Still getting straight after moving everything so that the decorator could do his wonderful work.
It really is time for me to get rid of a lot of old paperwork etc.
Bridget, pleased that your eyes are better. Hope that you enjoyed the food OH cooked, and well done you, for helping your friend to increase her family tree.

Something New
For the first time in my 65+ years I have entered St.Paul's Cathedral - it was a first for OH too. We went to the Advent Procession Service - music was excellent. Got home to find that my team had lost miserably to Swansea and that we stand 10th in the premiership. Watched a re-run of Foyle's War - OH and I's favourite TV programme.
Felt unwell this morning so decided to miss church, especially as it was very cold outside, Did a little shopping and then OH decided to put up the Christmas Tree and decorations - I did help a bit.
Glad to hear you eyes are so much better Bridget - the part of my tree I am working on at the moment (Semmens from Norfolk) seem to have been around in 1871 and then all the children have disappeared without a trace, I spent hours not finding any information!!
Hope everyone is well - keep warm - praying for you Regards Gerard <3 :-)

Good Afternoon to you all. Pleased to say that my eyes are now almost back to normal. I have been helping a friend with her Family Tree on An----ry and we have managed to leap from just 10 people a week or so again to about 60, some is from my friends memory and others we have learnt on the way....
OH is watching the darts on TV whilst at the same time cooking our dinner which is smelling very good.
I will be back later with something new etc

Have been rather busy again.
Since I last posted my Scottish cousins have been to visit me.
They had been touring Wales in their camper van (north to south) then crossed into England and up to Birmingham, missing flodded roads on the way.
It was great to see them , unfrotunately though, I was the only person here to greet them.
Sister was on Jury Duty and brother was not well.
Had I had family support, I would have given them something to eat here. As I didn't want to ignor them while preparing food, I took them to a local pub restaurant. It is less than a mile away, so we walker. Weather not tp bad on the way there, but the wind and rain arrived with a vengence, on the way back!
It was great to see them, and I hope that we will meet again. Will also be easier to write (snail mail or email) now that I have meet them face to face.
The day before their visit my son and his partner rearranged my kitchen.
Fridge, freezer, micro-wave (and a few other things) have all got new homes. Everything looks a lot better, but as they like the working surfaces clear, I have to now bend down to get stuff out of cupboards every time I want to use them.
I like to have my things to hand, I know that it makes for a messy kitchen, but it is much easier.
Have celebrated my 64th birthday. Went to the same pub restaurent with said sister and brother and my brother-in-law. Food was really good (a sunday roast) and it was a bit drier.
We have had a lt of rain recently. But the last two days have been dry and very cold. It is good to see a blue sky, so I'm not really complaining.
Had my front room decorated on Monday/Tuesday (painted). I "got a decorator in". He was very nice and did a good job. Finished the job in two half days (mornings).
Now turning to the subjects under discussion...
NEW
I suppose that my "new" would have to be my newly decorated rooms. The walls are painted in the "Light and Space" range of paint. Which as the name suggests, makes the rooms look much lighted and brighter (and therefore a bit bigger). Have also got new curtains and light shade for the back reception room. May get a new carpet for my front reception room.
OLD I am rather a hoarder, so this is a chance to get rid of all sorts of old stuff. Although I am pretty good at giving books to friends or passing them on to Charity shops, there are still a lot I hang on to.
I also have a lot of ornaments (but am getting better at giving them to charity shops). I am not sure if I shpuld tell my son that I have quite a few books and ornaments in the attic Perhaps I shoul just leave them there, and my son and grandsons can have a good old time sorting out all the hidden "treasures" or should that be "trash" when I finally pop my clogs.
I will have to come back to the thread ref. something BORROWED.
BLUE
As some of you know, I support West Bromwich Albion, my (late) ex-husband supported them too.
In fact, we met because we were both supporters who went to matches (home and away) and to "Thursday evening" supporters meetings in a pub.
So when we got engaged I had a diamond and sapphire engagement. Albion play in Blue and White so I had a ring thatmatched their colours!
Today I went to my Deaf Awareness Workshop. It was the fifth of six sessions Really good fun. Next week we will be (trying) to sign to Christmas songs and carols. Temps. are close to freezing at the moment and will probably drop below freezing overnight. I will be using my hot water bottle.
:-D :-D :-D

Just back from the hospital! Nothing serious unless of course it is your condition and then it is a damn nuisance and painful! My eyes are once again the problem so now I cannot see properly, have to put ointment in each eye at least 4 times a day and take four different medication......the annoying thing is that I will wake up one day and I will be back to normal. So please if I am not on here to write for a few days, please keep us upto date, and cross you fingers that I will be back soon,
Thanks :-( :-( :-(

Gerard, from the photo you bride looks wonderful in her wedding dress, no wonder it cost a fortune.
I am hoping that others might join us??
I will try to think about other times in my life which will meet the the present criteria, perhaps you could think of a subject?
Has anyone any other suggestions to write about? I do hope so.
We are having very high winds and as I write the trees are swaying, the noise is quite alarming, many of my new plants are beginning to dry even though our watering is automatic. Oh my goodness I have just seen the biggest Magpie I have ever seen, it is sitting in our neighbours try. At least the sky is now blue and not black, so keeping my fingers crossed that the wind will soon abate. Due to these high winds we have dozens of oranges, Lemons, And flowers on the ground, also a couple of my new plants are looking poorly.
Well that is about all for now so "have a good day everyone" and I hope that more people have the time to join us or those already with us write something today.
Bridget :-) :-)

Looking back at our wedding - nearly ten years now
My wife wore a beautiful Elizabethan style dress (something new) - cost a fortune! - and she wore some pearls that were my mother's (something old) - We got our two ten year old bridesmaids from the United states [two great-nieces] (something borrowed) - and at the reception seeing her mother's face (something blue!)
It was a lovely sunny day, and a chance for us to get our families together, unfortunately not likely to happen again, ever.
For our tenth anniversary we are arranging to renew our vows, but this time in church in front of all our friends.
Happy days Gerard <3 :-)

Ann, I wasn't really thinking of it re weddings but as individually.
Something Old.
I first started to learn about Ancestry when my maternal grand parents started to talk to me about their family and life. At that time there was not a site one could visit etc so my grandfather started to write our tree. He started by his birth and his parents and his brothers and sisters. We would talk about them a di was lucky to meet my brat aunt and be game very fond of her, she was tiny, smaller than me and I am. Early 5 feet 11/2 tall so I think she was about 4 feet 10inches. She had great stories to talk about especially where she lived in Mere, Wiltshire , what work she did , mainly caring for people. She did mary when in her sixties but sadly her husband died before her. So what was New? New to me was a beautiful tiny gold ring which was her wedding ring. I still have it and in a monetary value it is worthless, very thin and a slight damage but it is preciousto me. Something New. Well this is, at least for me the invention of being able to stay in touch with friends across the world just by writing on a computer, bylxt and by telephone. When I first spoke to someone in Australia to speak to a relative we were told a time would be given and we could have about 4 minutes, but what an amazing experience that was, now everyone seems to have a mobile phone, go out with family/ friends and then sit and talk to people on their phones! I will not have a mobile and find it a relief. Something borrowed. This must be two answers. a) when I married the first time I had the traditional Catholic Wedding and I was lent a fantasic hand made bag made of silk and embroidered for the lady who gave it to me, by my mother. When the lady passed away she left it to me. Sadly it was taken when we were robbed when we lived in England, they also took my wonderful necklace with matching earrings, broach, they were all Jet and bought by my husband for a special anniversary and they were made in 1910.
I hope some of you on this thread now start to write your piece.
Goodnight to you all, sleep well or if you are just waking have a good day. :-D :-D :-D

Hello all. Bridget I think Spain sent us her rain.
Berona how I envy you your 30 degrees, it is turning very cold here, which on top of all the rain and floods is not a nice thought. We were at daughters last weekend taking Christmas gifts down to my sister and also to leave at daughter's for one grandson who is visiting next weekend and not going home for Christmas. tomorrow we will be in Milton Keynes looking after the 2 grandchildren while the parents are in London.
Hazel, I do hope they can find out what is causing your daughter's pain.
Bridget your suggestion for a topic Something old, something new something borrowed something blue. Do the young people getting married today still follow that tradition I wonder? I didn't see any visible signs of it at our grandson's wedding which was a fairly traditional, if not a church, one. Maybe she was wearing a blue garter but I don't think so. :-D

Good morning everyone from a very blustery Peniscola. Twice this morning I have cleared leaves etc mostly to stop to many dropping into the pool, but as I finish and then look around there are more! Hazel, sorry to read that your daughter is back in hospital, it must be very worryimg for you, I will keep praying for you and the family. Our film night had a mixed review, well one person of the nine who attended did not enjoy the film, as it was not something that she would have chosen but the rest couldn't stop laughing so I think it was a success. However every one wants us to continue so the next one will be in two weeks time.
Last night was darts night and was a lot of fun, more people turned up than we expected.......I was called to duty to play and my first 6 darts all met the floor, but somehow I got as far as having a four to end and could I manage that.....well, no I could not.!
Must go now as OH is ready for breakfast
Hope to read some more entries later today
Bridget :-) :-) :-) :-)

Berona Nice to see you send a reply and to read that you do have a quick look to serif we are still writing re anything and everything!
Re selling our house. Whilst our home is for sale we are not desperate about it. We feel quite lucky so far as have several friends who have not had even one visit in almost a year! I think this is because they live on urbanisations which have been built in the last 10 years and every house looks the same re design, garden space, pools etc, whereas our home is conciderably larger, older and has a fantastic view. What has surprised meis that without exception eac couple would be paying cash and use the house for holidays etc.......at our price, I was/am stunned. We must be the "poor" in todays standards!! Sorry for repeating some of this message from earlier but most is new :-D :-D
West Ham lost their match yesterday, they really did not play very well which made me cross but the did manage to get one goal.
It looks like a damn day here as the sky is quite dark, and the trees are still but it is chilly and even Jet & Joe do not want to stay outside.
Anyone have any ideas about a topic to discuss.........I just had a silly little thought so you can all laugh and I will not mind :-D :-D :-D. What about " Something New, Something Old, Something Borowed, Something Blue" we could write a few lines, more if you want to, for each heading. Of course any other suggestions welcomed.
I will look in again later today.
Wishing you all well and if anyone is feeling low I will say a pray for you in my quiet time.
Bridget

Just "showing the flag" to let you know that I read the posts daily, although I might not necessarily contribute to them. It is warm and humid here now with the official start of Summer only days away. To-day's temp is forecast for 30+, so we do what we can in the early hours, in order to relax later when the heat makes us feel languid. So sorry to hear of the torrential rain and floods in the UK. If only we could swap SOME of our warmth and sunshine, for SOME of their rain! Unfortunately Mother Nature has a different itinerary.
Bridget - hope your house sells soon. When I sold mine, I put it on the market one year and had lots of people look, but didn't buy. The agent went out of business, so I left it until the next year - then sold it to the first person who looked at it. Just the luck of it, I suppose.

Gerard, such a delight to see you back on here, sometimes we are all just chatting about all & nothing and at other times about particular subjects. Perhaps we should all put our brains in motion to see if we can think of something new. How is you research for your family coming along? My grandmother used to tell us that she remembered people talking about family connection with people in Canada.............everyone thought she was wrong.......but this week she was proved to be right!! It is all on my tree on the A.....ry tree.
OK everyone can you all suggest one or two subjects for discussion as we used to do...I for one learnt a lot from this, I will be back later this afternoon to see if anyone has replied.......
Out tonight to a Quiz, it is in a very different style to the one OH does and if I can get three or four right I feel good......!!! :-). Just as well that others with us are far superior to me re quizzing......good fun though.
Have a good day everyone
