Good morning everyone,

Thanks for all the messages and keeping this thread open.
It is much cooler here this morning although the sky is still a wonderful blue and the sea is calm. There is a stillness in the air, the trees are not swaying and it is very quiet. I am not sure is it is the silence before a storm or simply people taking the opportunity to have a lie in as the cooler weather means that one can sleep longer.

As I sit here writing this mesage the sunn has appeared and the reflection of the sky, and the balustrade around the garden is reflected in the Pool....it almost looks as if the water is solid and that one could simply walk across it.

The roses are in bloom and begining to climb the terrace, they are new this year, the fruit trees are doing well, also new this year and the cacti have produced some amazing fruits....I have just bought a book about the cacti as some are very established and look almost "alien". I will try to describe them when I have learnt a little more.

Next year I am ging to grow some vegetables, used to do so in UK but haven't tried here before. Because we live in an organic raming area, the veg and fruit are quite wonderfully tasteful, but do not last very long once picked.

Last night we went to a quiz night and came first....it must have been the input from our visitors.

Frances, enjoy your time with your son and I hope that his new work venture is successful.

Val in SA. Pleased to hear tht the injections are going well, it really is quite straight froward and I think it is always daunting at first when having to give them to relatives.

You mention Sun Birds, now I have no idea what they look like, are they small and colouful, do the peck at the oranges? We seem to have a bumber crop of oranges and lemons this year and for the first time I am growing Cumquats. In UK I had a wonderful fig tree and have planted one here this year alomng with some lime trees.

Well folk it is time to make breakfast and go shopping before husband settles down to watch cricket England b Australia.....maybe we should have a traditional Engish tee today, that would be fun, Starwberries and cream, scones, tiny cucumber sandwihches etc....

Do keep the messages flowing.

I am off now to sit in the garden and have my sopecial 10 minutes thinking of all those who need poitive thought or to be remembered for any number of other reasons. I have wondered if we should all try to have a few minutes when we are all thinking of others at the same time...will have to give it some more thought.

Look forward to hearing from you all.

Keith where are you today<

Hi Bridget,
Hope your visitors are enjoying their stay and not finding the heat too much.
Nothing much to report today, been to the hairdressers, had lunch, done some catching up on family tree and heard that our son is coming for a week at the beginning of September, on his own as his partner cannot make it, last chance he will have for awhile as he starts his new business on 1 October. Be nice to have him to ourselves for just this once......
Not into bird watching myself but our two cats do quite a lot of it.
Take care, keep cool
Frances

Hello Bridget,

To-day is quite cool here for a change, temp18. Have had a few drops of rain but nothing to write home about but every little helps.

I love watching the birds in the garden but unfortunately we have my daughter's cat with us and it has a habit of catching the birds, so I dont fill the birdbath or put out food any more. We do have the sunbirds which love the honeysuckle and the aloes so when I see them I also keep a watchful eye out for the cat.

Have fun at the quiz night.

OOps, I am late posting today.

Hello to everyone, I hope that you are all enjoying the day.

The weather here is very hot but not humid so far, and the visitors are enjoying a swim in the pool.
We have been "twitching" ths morning, now this is not really my chosen hobby but it was very interesting to note that we identified 11, yes 11, different birds, I thought that we had about five or six!!!

Last night we had a BBQ the first for a while and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Valerie, I am so pleased to hear that you now have the Knack of how to give injections and that the patient is improving.

What a splendid surprise to have a call from an old friend.

To everyone else I hope that ypu are enjoying your day and find some time to put a meaage on here. I know that my own messages ae somewhat short at the moment but our friends are needing quite a lost of help due to health problems so not quiteas much free time, but I know that they would do the same for us if needed and after all that is waht real friends are for.

I do still find time for my own thoughts and quiet time so none of you have been gforgotten.

This evening we are out at a quiz night...the monies go to a local childrens' home so all in a good cause.

Take care, will have a peek sometime this afternoon to see if there are anymore messages

Good afternoon all,

Am later than usual to-day, just couldn 't seem to get things
done. Anyway lunch is over and all the dishes washed.

I am getting quite good at this injection giving, don't stress so
much now and it's over in a flash with no complaints from
my patient! He actually walked up and down the steps this morning.

To-day is quite a pleasant day, the sun is weak, there is a bit of a breeze
blowing, and the sea is quite calm.

The orange tree is full of blossoms and the scent is lovely early in the morning.

I was called away from the computer to take a telephone call, and I had such a lovely surprise it was an old friend I haven't seen for a couple of years, and we have just had such a lovely chat.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Good morning all, a bright cloudy day here so far today. Just read back a bit and would agree with the quote that said the Spanish are the noisiest in Europe, not been to Spain but in Tenerife they are so noisy, in restaurants especially. And I think they are even worse on mobile phones than we are!!!

Italians are not particularly quiet either, must be the latin influence

Good morning everyone and I hope that you all have a good day.

As usual I was up early today and sat on balcony watching the sky. It was so dark that I could see many of the constellations but sadly I could not name them except for the Plough, it felt as if I could lean across and touch the stars. Graduall the sky and sea changed colours and went from almost black sea to dark blue and redish purple, with lighter blue above. I thought that this was an omen for bad wether. Went inside to make a coffee, came out and everything had changed, the stars were disappearing the sky across the see was blue and pink, the fishing boats were chugging out and the birds were flying around also some bats. It felt good.

Well others are rising now , I have fed and waterd the dogs and given them a short walk, so time to greet "Good Morning" to OH and friends.
Will try to get on again today, sorry there isn't time to say hello individually but you will be in my thoughts from time to time

bye for now

Thank you Bridget I am fine, the bruises are a beautiful bluey-purple colour and not quite as extensive as I thought they were going to be. Been to Calpe this morning to replace the two glasses that were broken, bought 6 to be on the safe side. Gorgeously hot again today so will stay inside until this evening.

Good morning,

To-day is a dull day although it is pleasantly warm, looks like rain but I don't think we will actually get any.

Well injection number 2 went off without a hitch but boy are the elastic stockings a mission to get on!! There must be a knack which I will have to learn. I must say that with all the extra things to do now the hours certainly fly by.

Hope you had a lovely time with your friends yesterday Bridget.

Time to be thinking about making the lunch.

Have a good day.

Dear Bridget,
Have a great time with your visitors. Not quite as hot as 46 here, mid 30s for us. Threw the breakfast tray all over the terrace this morning, tripped as I was going up the steps. Orange juice, butter, glass, broken plates all over the place and I have two wonderful bruises across my upper thighs!!! Luckily the bruises from when I fell off my bike on holiday have disappeared....accident prone or clumsy, OH says I should stop wearing flip-flops but boots are so unsummery!!!
Will look out some recipes for you.
Take care,
Frances
PS The Spanish are supposedly the noisiest people in Europe and secon only to the Japanese in the world.

Good morning,

It's a lovely day to-day, sunshine and a breeze again to-day, not going to be hot.

Bridget, I can't imagine what 46 must be like, I thought 30-32 was hot!
Your menu sounds lovely, and I'm sure the food will be enjoyed by all.

The first injection went well this morning, no complaints from the patient.
He only really complains of pain when he is doing the exercises which he is very good about.

I must say that when we first went to church in JBay we were amazed at all the talking that went on before the service, sounds like a bazaar! We were used to sitting quietly and no talking.

Have a wonderful time with your friends.

Am off now to have some tea.

Good morning everyone. I have been awake for about 2 hrs, simply couldn't sleep due to the very warm night...OH is still in the land of nod.

Had what I hope is a big break through on my husbands side of the research and I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone who contacted me is correct withhis information...I have been searching on and off for some time now. There are some people on this site who appear to be amazingly fast at finding information...don't know what I would do without them so they are definetly in my positive thoughts slot today.

Well today you all have a respite from my little descriptions of what is happening in my part of the world. We know it is going to be hot, so nothing new there, and as today is Sunday nothing much will happen until the church bells start to ring around 09.30. Spain is still a very Catholic country and going to church is still important. Actually it is rather re assuring in many ways to see grandparents, parents, children, girl and boy friends all going to church together......However I was quite amazed when I first went to church here at how much talking goes on by the congregation during the service...it was so noisy compared to UK churches.
The christenings, first communion , confirmation and weddings are wonderful.

My close friends from Yourshire arrive this afternoon and around 15.30 hrs we have another 8 people coming, the men will be watching football and the ladies will be chatting, swiming and also may watch some football. I hope that the new menus I have used for the food turn out OK, didn't fancy doing yet another BBQ so prepared everything yesterday and simply have to put it together today. Anyone fancy sharing some favourite recipes???

To anyone who is feeling low or worried, I will think about you in my quiet moments, for those who have had good news or who are simply content today, I will also remember you and hope that yor peace continues.

Oh I do hope that everyone is well, so take care and I will be back tomorrow, although I may peep in now and again today,

Happy Sunday everyone.

Hello

You know the saying " If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen" well I have just done that and come downstairs for a hideaway from the heat. We have a temp of 46 today with no wind chill so feels incredible hotter than we have had before.
I have been preparing food for tomorrow and trying to have a change from the usual BBQ so have cooked sausages in honey and Mustard, also others with a mint concoction, and others covered in horseradish wth cream. They smelt delicious whilst cooking so OH and I had a taster for our lunch. I have counted them so he can't sneak any more. have also made a Chickpea, Chirozo, garlic and onions with baby tomatoes Salad, had to cook it all first and that too is cooling down but I am not sure that I am, I will add fresh herbs tomorrow.

Does anyone have eany easy recipes they would wish to share.....
I was about to prepare a chicken and Advocado salad but then thought that the avaocado will go black over night so here I am out of the heat.

Jenxx Enjoy your time with the grandchildren before they go home. As for the house work, well we can all find something in that department most of the time. Take a breather and remind yourself of what a graeat time you have had.

Glad to hear that the Regatta was good, haven't been to one for years.

Valerie,

Great news that your husband is home and improving, don't worry about giving the injections you will soon be an expert, unless you are already of course.

If the weather is hot the eklastic stockings must be difficult to wear but I am sure that you will make sure that husband complies.

I hope that you are enjoying your me time with the crossword, did you manage to finish it?

Crime seems to be on the increase across the world, I do have very close friends who go to SA every other year. The husband has relatives, well the rest of his family are there, but although he loves the people and the surroundings he hates the gates having to be locked, the need for some people to carry guns all the time. His brother is a well known architect so I guess they must have a splendid house.

Well I am going to see if I can find a relative or two, hopefully from the past and then I do not have to remember to be good!!

Speak to you all soon.

Good afternoon to everyone.

Have just fetched my husband from the hospital and I must say we are pleased that the travelling is over. He must wear elasticised stockings for 8 weeks and have daily injections of anti-clotting medication for 3 weeks, and guess who will be giving the injections - me!! While the patient is sleeping I think I will settle down with a crossword puzzle.

This is a very nice place to live, the only drawback is the crime.

The day started off with a very strong wind blowing, but this has now dropped and it is quite warm.

Enjoy your weekend.
