Good morning all Well that wind yesterday actually made my duvet cover blow away - could not see it anywhere even in the street. About half an hour after I found it was missing door bell rang and there was a Soanish neighbour from down the road with my cover in her arms. Apparently it had blown down the street and landed on a street lamp and a dear man got it down and gave it to her. Will teach me to put more pegs in next time. Had a shower this morning but sun out and blue sky at moment. Busy cleaning up and sorting out my kitchen - there is dust everywhere from the sanding etc. oh well I am not complainin g still got a smile on my face.
Ann - certainly did have a glass or two last night to celebrate.
Great to see you posting Bridget - you seem to have settled in your new job.
Have a great day everyone and take care
Love Mary xx

Good morning,
Nice to hear from you Bridget, only a week left till your husband joins you, great.
Thankfully we had an uneventful trip to PE. My daughter left me at the shopping mall while she did her business, but would you believe I didn't find anything which I wanted to buy!!
We have friends here from East London SA, for a couple of days, so will be walking on the beach for a change. We have been friends for about 40 years.
Hope you all have a lovely day.

Mary, how sad your news about your Cousin's partner.
Saw your other thread that the kitchen is finished. I hope you cracked a bottle open to celebrate. I guess you will be having fun tomorrow putting all your stuff away.

Hi All Hope you are all well and happy. Not added to this thread for a few days. Had a phone call on Sunday from my cousin to tell me her partner had had a heart attack and died. She was obviously devistated. So yesterday we went down to Torrevieja - hope I have spelt that correct - to his funeral. My cousin's sister and husband had flown over from UK to support her. All so very sad. The weather today on the Costa Blanca is sunny but very windy - got washing blowing on the roof terrace - hope it stays on the line !! Fingers crossed my kitchen may be completed today - I can't wait to finally sort out all those cupboards - never had so many !!! And I have 4 drawers too !!! Hope Bridget is ok - wont be long before she has her hubby by her side. Take care all Love Mary xx

Goodmorning,
I'm back!! Internet connection problem solved, I hope!!
Beautiful day to-day by the look of things, a gentle breeze at the moment hope it stays that way.
On Sunday we decided to buy a pizza for lunch and went down to one of the lookout points, we watched the surfers do their thing and were lucky enough to see a pod of abouit 6 dolphins go by , they really are lovely to see. This is the time of the year for the whales to be passing this way, so maybe next time we will see some of them.
I am going to Port Elizabeth this morning with my daughter who has some jusiness to do there. There was an attempted hijacking on one of the off-ramps on this road yesterday so hope it is quiet to-day.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone,
At 6 a.m. the sea was absolutely calm and there wasn't a breath of wind although it was quite nippy out. so had my coffee inside.
I am very happy with my haircut and perm, gee what a difference it makes, I feel quite human again!.
Good luck with the Lottery Frances perhaps you can make your dreams a reality. I will also be buying my Lotto ticket to-day for to-night's draw. The Lotto here has two draws weekly, Wednesday and Saturday I only buy a ticket for Saturday . The best I've had is R400 so I'm still waiting for the big one!!
My daughter's router at her home has blown and as it is Saturday and the suppliers are all closed, she is taking the router from her workshop for the weekend, so I will have no internet access until Monday ,how sad.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Morning all, As Mary says it is raining, the very fine stuff that soaks through everything. The cloud is down on the valley floor, all very depressing. Going to buy a lottery ticket as the jackpot is well worth having...in my dreams...have most of it spent, a lovely villa on the shores of Lac Annecy, a new M******s, trips to far-flung places...wouldn't it be 'loverley'. Ah well I can dream. Enjoy the day Frances. PS Hope the perm went well, Val.

Hello all,
Nice to see you about Bridget, Glad that you are settling in. It will be lovely to hear about the area you are in now. Did you say Hastings, all I know about Hastings is the Battle of 1066 !!!!
We are having very unseasonal windy weather, August is usually the windy month. Rain looked promising yesterday but nothing came of it.
Am off in a while to have a perm which I may say is long overdue. I am trying a local hairdresser who I believe cuts very well, it remains to be seen if she can manage fine fluff!! Till now I have been going to a friend in Port Elizabeth who has a Salon .
The kitten I wrote about earlier hasn't been claimed and is very happy with the assistant from the Vets who took her home.
That's all for now.
Take care everyone.

Oh you are all such great people keeping this thread alive. Thank you
i have managed to read through most of the newer input and t=you all seem to be having a great time even though there have been some incidents such as mothers going back home with a black eye!
The home is in a delightful setting and the residents and staff are all very pleasant and as a bonus most of the staff have been here for a long time.
Have been trying to write my CV as I cannot find my previous one and it is needed for my registration as the Home Manager....it is driving me mad trying to remember dates etc.
I will try to write about the area over the weekend as it is a beautiful English village that I am working in.
Take care everyone, I will be back soon

Picked up mom from Valencia airport a week yesterday. Dropped my sister and her fella at their hotel and went to the villa - had some lunch and Paul went off to work. Was unpacking and putting mom's clothes away and she was flapping about money - she always insists on giving Paul and I some euros . she then went to sit on the end of the bed and missed and landed on the floor !!! Well, I tried all different ways to pick her up - bought a chair in for her to hold - she tried to get on her knees - I had my arms under her armpits and I could not get her up. So finally I phoned Paul who came home and we managed to get her up. Luckily she was ok - apart from being annoyed with herself. Thursday we had a quiet day just sitting around chatting - the weather was glorious as it has bven all week until today when I have so much washing to do and yes, it is raining. Friday was a fiesta day so we had planned a day out but when Paul got up he came into the bedroom to tell me he could hear water running outside. Well to be truthful it was pouring out of a downpipe. We soon found out the main water pipe into the villa had burst so the water had to be turned off. Being a fiesta day there were no shops open so we packed up what we needed and came back to our house. The next day Paul went off in search of a suitable length of pipe to repair the broken piece. My mom then decided she would shower and wash her hair. I always hover around the bathroom just in case - good job I did as she somehow managed to fall again. Thankfully Paul arrived at the same time so we managed to puck her up. She must have had her guardian angel with her because she had not really hurt herself - although a couple of days later she had a lovely black eye. So back up the mountain we went and Paul managed to repair the broken pipe so we had water. Monday we had a lovely half day in Calpe walking along the sea front taking it in turns to push the wheelchair - me on the flat Paul did the hills !!! Mom is now safely back home in Cornwall but insists she had a lovely holiday. We are going over to UK early December for a wedding so will be seeing Mom for a few days afterwards - about 7 weeks time. This morning as we were unpacking the car the kitchen man arrived and said he had had a phone call the kitchen doors had arrived - see you later he said. Well that was 3 hours ago and still no sign of him - I just wonder if my kitchen will ever be finished. Oh well, one day I suppose.
I have put this on General then thought I should have added it on BB's Diary . so I c and p it on to here.
Hope you are all ok - anyone heard from Bridget ?
Love Mary xx

Dear me where is everyone? All busy.
Cloudy and cool to-day with a forecast of rain
Our electricity went off this morning, unsheduled just another breakdown. . This is the second time this week, and our electricity provider is about to increase our electricity charges by a whopping 53%! I hink we will have to use candles for lighting and gas for cooking!!
Late yesterday afternooon my daughter found a kitten in her garden which had been shot with a pellet gun. She took it to the vet who removed the pellet and kept the kitten in overnight. My daughter was quite distressed when she phoned to tell me about it. One of the vet's assistants has taken the kitten home until they can find the owner. I really can't understand how anyone can be so cruel.
Bye for now.

Hello Folk,
How's everyone to-day?
About 15 fishing boats came into the bay yesterday afternoon to shelter from the wind which by the way is still quite strong to-day.
Got the paint this morning to spruce up my garden gnomes which are looking rather sad. I will get that job done to-morrow.
I have written to the SA Defence Force for my father's WW2 Service Record which I hope will give details of where he was imprisoned during the war. He never spoke much about those years. I hope they are a little speedier than our Home Affairs Office which can take up to a year to send a copy of a birth certificate!!
Have a fantastic weekend.

Morning all, Had a great time yesterday with our friends and their grandson. What a gorgeous baby and so well-behaved. He slept during lunch which was a bonus and then of course the Spanish lady in the restaurant took him to show him to the chef and the rest of the staff, so refreshing, wouldn't hppen in an English restaurant would it? Weather still good so having a lazy today. Enjoy Frances

Good morning,
It's one of Winnie the Pooh's blustery days here not very pleasant.
Frances, hope you had a good time with the baby. babies are so cute I also just love them. I don't have grandchildren and have always made do with my brother's grandchildren.
How's your work going Bridget?
Ann it's good to be able to make your own cards, my efforts were very amateurish but I am still trying.
Well it's off to our Ladies Group meeting this afternoon and that's about it for to-day.
Take care

Hi everyone, Good to hear from you Bridget, pity you're missing all this lovely weather. Have done quite a bit of housework today as friends are coming tomorrow with their 5 month old grandson, just for a drink before lunch, so thought I had better make an effort. Quite looking forward to it actually as I really like babies, can't stand children, but babies are lovely. Mind you they usually yell and scream when I pick them up!!! Lovely autumnal day today and quite hot, so will probably take my book and my lunch outside. Enjoy your day Frances

Hello all,
Nice to see you back Bridget. Hope you enjoyed your dinner last night. I guess the days till the end of the end of the month will drag.
It's a real summer's day here to-day, quite hot although there is a slight wind blowing.
Just been doing mundane things like the weekly shopping, nothing exciting happening.
On the menu for lunch to-day is meat loaf and veggies.
Take care.
