Afternoon everyone....well England were rubbish weren't they and Germany didn't do so well either...is it all my fault for supporting them? Weather okay but we had rain yesterday evening and it is quite cloudy today but I have loads to do as am doing a lunch party tomorrow and we go away in a few days. Will miss some of the footy and most of Wimbledon but would rather be on holiday. Hope everyone is feeling good and enjoying the day.
Frances.

Good morning everyone, hope you are all well.I have been up since 4am,I woke with a terrible headaches and have felt really dreadful..Took some pain relief as I thought that maybe I was heading for a migraine,I used to have these when I was younger and have even been hospitalised for hem in the past. Still feeling unwell but not as bad as earlier. Well enough of my moans. It is chilly and damp here in Hastings and there are not so many birds around this morning,,,maybe they to are feeling the cold. Well my last day working and then I am away with OH for the rest of the week.We were going to chill out here but I said NO! If I do that I will receive phone calls etc and I want to forget work for a while.
On the 25th it is OHs birthday and I simply do not know what to get him. I think maybe a book, and a meal out...it does get harder as the years fly by to know what to buy.he doesn't wear jewelry, except a wedding ring, has all the music he could possible want and as for clothes well we both have plenty.
Sorry friends, I feel to unwell to write anymore so bye for now and I will look on here this evening
Enjoy your day everyone

Morning all, Hope you will soon be feeling better, Bridget......now you know it is definitely time to retire!! Weather at the moment is rubbish...and I have put out a load of washing which is just hanging there, hope it doesn't rain. My fault I suppose for leaving things until the last minute, but I find I get everything done that way!
Enjoy the day Frances.

Good morning all Hope you feel better Bridget - migraines are not funny. And as Frances said - definitely the time to retire and come back home. Our weather today is cloudy and I have loads of washing to do - usually get some done over the weekend but did not bother - so serves me right. Oh well whatever . there is always another day. Had a bbq Saturday and yesterday but last night I had a scarf around my shoulders as it went cooler - in fact I came downstairs and left hubby up on the terrace. Over the years the weather has become very unpredictable - still we cannot do much about that. Enjoy your day and take care Love Mary xx

Hello everyone,
Sure do hope you are feeling better Bridget.
Have had a very hectic few days, visiting my sister-in-law and also my brother(not the one whose wife had the stroke) who is in high care now after not receiving proper treatment at a state hospital. I really don't know why he didn't join a medical aid! Fortunately they are both in Port Elizabeth hospitals but at opposite sides of the town. My sister-in-law is doing very well and will be going home on Friday, my brother allthough not out of the woods has improved tremendously since yesterday.
Our weather is cool at the moment, no sign of more rain though.
I am really mentally and physically exhausted and will now be off to watch Eastenders.
Take care all.

Good evening to you all and thank you for the nessages, it is very rewarding too see this thread continue for so long.I think of you all as my electronic PenPals. When i was younger I had penpals in New Zealand, Australia and germany...did anyone else have pen pals.I only ever got to meet the German pen Pal and we had a wonderful time. She came over to England after I had visited her and we did all the usual places in London and even went to a Jazz club in Soho...it was great. However over the years we lost touch.
The sun is shining and the trees are still and the weather forecaast is good for the next few days. Must stop as OH has cooked dinner steak, new potatoes, large mushrooms , tomatos and Pepper sauce
Tomorrow we head for Norfolk to stay with some very old friends and relax...we haven't seen them for a while so it will be catch up time

Hello from Norfolk UK which has had glorious sunshine today. It took us 4 hours to drive from Hastings to Attleborough and because we were driving during the day the roads were clear, no hol ups etc.
It was beautiful driving through the forest and countryside, with blue skies and empty roads. Our friends were so delighted to see us and hugged us so much that we nearly had our breath taken away. Angus the dog also graeted us and liked our hands and danced around the garden,,,,15 minutes later it was as if we hadn't been away.
we sat in the garden and talked the hind legs off a donkey. Oh and my friends husband then went to rotary and then to the PuB to watch the football whilst My friend Leslie and I just chatted the hours away,
Not sure what we are doing tommorrow but I am sure we will enjoy ourselves.
Bye for now

Good morning to you all
Well thank goodnes that the England team played as a team and we got through to the next stage.....the streets were empty here as everyone gathered in the pubs, wine bars, friends houses etc.....
Yesterday I went shoping with my friend Leslie and we had a great time chatting all day stopping for a light lunch and then a coffee with of course a deliciously wickedly calorific cake. I was looking for an outfit for my sons wedding but I couldn't find anything that took my fancy and being in the larger size group most likely doesn't help. Also without wishing to sound mean it is the registry Office purerly so they can go back to Army quarters and the main wedding is in church next May and I will most definetly be dieting for that one. Do you all think I am being mean? I have a couple of really nice navy dresses and a pretty colour pink jacket with 3/4 length sleeves and the jacket has some delicate whited stitching on it as well. I could then buy a new bag, shoes etc and I feel this would be a good compromise...your views awaited.
My friend has just brought in a cup of coffee and we are going to sit in the conservatory and discuss tomorrow nights BBQ There are about 20 people coming and if they weather stays as good as promised it should be great fun. The sun is shining and the sky is blue although the temperature is lower than this time yesterday. It is strange though I have just realised that I do not hear many birds here and yet in hastings and as home in Spain their chattering wakes me...so that must be why I am an "early bird in those places....OOOO that is a dreadful pun
by for now and have a great day

Hello, I'm here, but feeling sad as my brother who was in High Care for the past week gave up his battle early this morning. He was in such pain that I could not wish him back.
It is a perfect day here weatherwise, the holiday makers will be very happy. It's the time of the year for the Billabong surfing competition which I think is next week and the town is full of visitors.
Take care.

Good afternoon all Val I am so sorry to hear about your brother - but he is at peace now and pain free and I am sure you have lots of happy memories.
Bridget I don't think you are mean - I would wear your navy dress and pink jacket and save your money for the church wedding outfit. When our eldest son got married I wore a navy suit I had bought for my sister's wedding - mind you did not have a lot of choice as he only gave us 12 hours notice . bless him !!!
Have a great weekend all and let's hope England and Spain come up trumps and win their next matches.
Love Mary xx

Val Please accept my condolences on the loss of your brother. I will think of you and your family in my quiet time.
Mary in spain thanks for your reply to my "am I being mean" it is re-assuring, A friend has told me that here is a shop called Coast, well I think they are nationwide and she said they are reasonably priced so I will have a look on line and if I do not find anything I will wear what I described earlier.
we are out this evening for a HOG ROAST and a fund raising event organised by our friends to raise funds for a local charity so that shoul be fun. It is being held in a garden centre called Beales which is owned and run by Peter Beale a famous rose gardener, so it will be in a wonderful setting
Will write about it on my next posting Bye Bridget

Good morning to you all. The Hog Roast. When I lived in Attleboruogh for about 2 years I started by living in Bed & Breakfast but quickly become friends with the owners and yes once again I was supposed to be here for 3 months anded ending staying for 2 years. Our now friends and the landlords said I could stay with them and just be one of the family. I quickly became involved in the local community including the local Rotary.
Each year a charity is chosen and the Rotarians have various events to raise funds and this year it was all about our serving soldiers,
Over the months there have been raffles, walks, quizz nights etc and yesterday was the last event The Hog Roast.
Fortunatly it was held in a world famous Nursery owned by Peter Beale who has been honoured across the world for his specialist knowledge of roses and he also develops new roses.
About 80 people came to the Hog Roast served in home made bread with home made apple sauce and of course the crackling. There was a raffle with some truly great prizes but I didn't win any, and a live band who were excellent. we were able to walk around the grounds with the perfume from the roses simply hanging in the air just enough to sense them but not overpowering. I met many people who knew from my days working here and they all still knew my name and I could not always remember theirs but they were so friendly and kept asking was I back here for good now. We raised £600 so that was added to the total and presented to the Army representive for "our boys" which brought a tear to my eyes as I thought of my serving son and all thoose other lads I know.
we came home and carried on partying until about 2am and then it was up he wooden stairs to bed.
Tonight we are having a BBQ for about 20 people so now I must go to buy the meat and salad This is in homour of my OH who had a birthday yesterday. The sunis shining it is beautiful weather so bye for now
