That bought back memories...My mother told me she put half a crown in the collection box by mistake many years ago and had to ask the priest for it back ...she said it was supposed to have been a penny ..LOL

I think we would have starved had he not given it back .......!!

No, my mind is made up and I am resolute. When you think about it, you can sin all you want all week, get a clean slate on a Sunday then go to the pub. I don't know why more people don't do it.

No, I mean it. I'm a reformed character altogether. I like the idea of the church bit - if I slip up through the week, like say a naughty word if I hit my thumb with a hammer, I can say sorry and ask to be forgiven on a Sunday morning and all will be well. Sounds like a good deal to me for the sake of 20p in the collection tray.
