McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 23 Jul 2009 15:52

TW - after having been thru a similar blister scenario during my visit to Berlin, I can highly recommend them there gel blister plasters - they work a treat and got me thru my 4 day jaunt pain free :O))

Anyway i parked the car up - paid my £2.30 for the luxury of leaving it there for 6+ hours, and tootled across to the station, during which time i receive a text from Hayley that she's on her train.........

I stroll along leisurely (always early me) to the ticket office and watch a 'slow' train pull in on the London platform then disappear. I buy my ticket, and half listen to the announcement that the next train due down from London is cancelled - not registering the fact that said train is actually the one that should turn around and come back as my 9.25 to London.

I walk onto the platform to then be greeted by 'attention passengers on platform 2, 9.25 service to London is cancelled - next service is 9.55' .................. GREAT !!! it's currently 9.05am.

Phone Hayley and give her the news - calmly :O)

I enquire at the ticket office if i am able to go back to the previous station and switch across to the Victoria line - 'yes madam you can i'll just check the times for you' - next train to London 10.06am ................ no point faffing around, so i wander off to the meagre array of shops in Strood and find a half decent looking cafe and have breakfast - egg on toast and tea with hardly any milk - yuk !!!

Stroll back and succeed in getting onto an empty train at 9.55am - take 2 calls from Hayley during the journey, but can't hardly hear her lol - arrive in London and bundle onto the tube to be greeted by the same message as TW - signal probs.

Nothing worse than being stuck on the London underground at the best of time - sweltering ..............but finally get off at destination and get thru the barriers to see a vision with auburn hair approaching me and not a tarten shopping trolley in sight lol

As said before a delightful day - but boy the time just sailed past far too soon.

As I predicted, the carriage I was booked on the way home, was right down the other end of the train, felt like miles, I was almost out of Liverpool street and on Stratford Station LOL.

I must say, the olympic stadium is coming on really well, last time I went past there the place looked like a quarry! Lots of new high-rise buildings at Stratford too, my Dad wouldn't recognise the place he was brought up now.

Ooo it's lovely here. The roadworks are still there, so traffic is still in chaos, so glad I didn't have to go out today heheh

I am in bare feet, covered in plasters, and my feet were so sore last night that in spite of being exhausted by the time I got back, I just couldn't sleep. I ended up on the sofat with them hanging off the arm for a couple of hours lol. I sent OH to go and get the bread and milk..

I have to say, when Mo and Anita went with BC to take the poor little doggy for a walk, Hayley and I did what we were forbidden to do, we washed up. BC came back and told us both off and punished us by making us dance in the kitchen. :-))
