Yesterday I received an email supposedly from the Tax Office telling me I was due a tax rebate of £280 and to fill in the attached form and email it back. The telephone number was the same as the one on the genuine Working Tax Credits form, BUT the form asks for all personnal information such as name, address, phone number, CREDIT CARD DETAILS, and asks you to fill in the amount of rebate you are due. (Supposedly so they can debit that much from your credit card.) |

Sad isn't it that there are people ready to take advantage of a bad situation. I think it is pretty certain that these days nobody would ask for all those details by post, phone or e mail. |

The current hot scam is that you get an e-mail notifying you that you have been cited on the trace track scheme and need to pay for the test, card details please. The scam comes with the genuine phone number which does not take incoming calls anyway. |
