I think Tec is too busy gallivanting around to talk to us :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Jun 2015 16:22

Where has Tec gone?

I hope he hasn't gone off round the village in his new wheelchair and run out of battery power, so he is stuck waiting for rescue somewhere :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Jun 2015 08:11

I forgive you Sue :-)

It is cloudy again this morning, but warm which makes all the difference, it is supposed to rain later on, in fact it has just started to rain now

I don't mind, we are sitting on a large covered balcony looking towards the sea.it is due to go back to wall to wall sunshine on Tuesday

I don't like it being very hot at home Sylvia because we aren't geared up for it, but it is diff, event on holiday where all you have to do is relax

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 6 Jun 2015 23:26

A shock to the system Sylvia :-0. I'm feeling much better thank you.

Sorry Linda :-( Sounds good just relaxing though.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Jun 2015 22:46

It will be even hotter tomorrow, possibly as high as 27/28C

Of course, it is even hotter here at the house as the "official weather station" is down at sea level and there is always a breeze blowing there

I've just checked our indoor / outdoor thermometer at ca 2:45 pm .............. it is currently 25.5C in the shade in the back garden, and 29.6C in this room which faces south and has lots of windows. The fan is on at full strength!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Jun 2015 22:38

we're in an early heatwave ................. it is really hot for June at around 23C, and the sun is burning if you stand in it for any length of time.

Linda .............. it sounds an idyllic holiday day :-D

Sue ....... hope your cold is clearing up now xxxx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Jun 2015 19:12

All your fault Sue, by the time we were going for breakfast , it a
Was raining hard. The hotel is built in small blocks scattered around the gardens, so we got wet I do have a couple of emergency ponchos which Live in the suitcase, but we bought new cases for this trip and I hadn't moved them from the old case.

Never mind at least the rain was warm and we soon dried off. oH spent all morning reading, I stretched out on the bed And the next thing I knew, it was lunchtime :-D

The sun had come out by then so we were able to read by the pool. I even walked in the water for my exercise

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Jun 2015 06:38

It isn't sunny here this morning Sue, all your fault for saying you were coming. It is still hot though there is supposed to be a thunderstorm later on. That is good to Watch, we will just play Scrabble on the balcony till it passes over

SueMaid Report 5 Jun 2015 22:48

Hello :-)

I found us on page 2 :-0

I have a cold and have been feeling quite miserable the last couple of days. I'm in need of some sunshine so I think I'll join Linda on Kefalonia. It sounds wonderful.

So pleased you have your wheelchair Tec - life will be easier now.

Tradesmen work to their own timetable Sylvia. It must be he same all over the world.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Jun 2015 20:00

Ah yes of course you said Tuesday. All the days are the same here, so I have no idea what day it is

There was a varied selection of art. some looked as if Eve had done it, but on the whole it was good there were two floors, so quite a lot to look at,all in a very modern building paid for by EU Funds no doubt

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Jun 2015 19:55

Linda ..

it sounds as though you had a good day :-)

The art gallery sounds very interesting ............ was the art any good?

Gasman does not come until Tuesday morning .......

........ but the grass cutting man came this morning!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Jun 2015 19:03

I hope they did turn up

It was cloudy this morning so we had a wander along the beach then had lunch in a taverna. By that time the sun was out so we read by the pool this afternoon.

After dinner we went to look around the art gallery. It is really odd but the hotel has a very large modern art gallery in the grounds which is only open for two hours each evening. It has art from the 1950's onwards

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Jun 2015 18:00

I know! :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Jun 2015 08:06

And if they do get called to an emergency, they won't turn up at your place despite the fact you have waited in all morning

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Jun 2015 01:03

for those who know Flanders and Swann .............

the gasman cometh .................

on TUESDAY morning :-D :-D :-D :-D

They need to do maintenance on and upgrade the gas meter, which is outside the house. But they need access to inside as they will have to turn the gas supply off, and then back on again. Which means they have to come in to re-start the pilot lights on the furnace and the hot water tank.

They will arrive "some time" between 8:30 am and noon, and will need about 45 minutes.

I did ask if that was the closest timing he could give me ........... and he said "Yes. Our technicians may get called to an emergency"

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Jun 2015 00:59

Tec ..............

I'm glad that your power wheelchair has arrived, and that your daughter has checked you out as a driver of it :-D

I'm also glad that you managed to get to see the Duchess while your daughter was with you.

Linda ............... walking in water will be good exercise, as well as cooling you off in the heat :-)

The weather is warming up here .............. it was very cloudy and threatening this morning, but now (almost 5 pm), the sky is a clear blue and the sun is shining. It is appreciably warmer than it was earlier.

The forecast is for about 20/21C tomorrow (Friday), but for 26-28C on Monday.

That is HERE in the city, by the water :-0

I have to go for my 6 monthly post-mastectomy check-up on Monday .......... and I have already asked OH if he will take me there. That temperature is just too hot for me to take the 2 buses, with the necessary walking at the change-over and from the bus to the doctor's office at the other end. There is no shade at all at the stop for the 2nd bus. :-(

I believe that sort of water exercise is very good for your joints. Something I should consider doing "when we move."

August said to his mother yesterday "we should get a baby that doesn't dribble."

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jun 2015 19:03

I am glad that your wheelchair has arrived Tec, there will be no keeping you in now :-D

I am pleased that you managed to see the Duchess and that she was well.

We have just come back from dinner. Greece is two hours ahead of the UK.

I had a lovely day in the shade by the pool, I even went in for a dip twice. I tried swimming but decided that wasn't good for my knee, I usually do breast stroke and it didn't work out, so walking about in the water up to neck height seems to be the answer. This pool doesn't get deeper than that, so I won't drown.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Jun 2015 17:44

Don't overdo it by that pool Linda :-D
Too much lying around can be bad for you know.

It has been a beautiful day here, clear blue sky and wall to wall sunshine.

My power wheelchair arrived, so I went for a tootle around the village, with my daughter as an escort before she had to return home.
So much better than that little scooter, much faster round country lanes, and climbs steep gradients with no effort.
Also I can use it indoors. It goes through door ways with ease. This being an old house the doorways are a little wider than in modern houses.

We went to see the Duchess this morning. She was fine, although a little frail I think. We took a stack of magazines in for her. I think she still enjoys them.

Well, must go to find something for dinner now.
Take care everyone,
Tec. :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jun 2015 12:19

I am glad that you are getting the access sorted Tec ready for the new wheelchair

We are having a siesta as it is far too hot to be outside. It is hard work doing nothing but reading by the pool you know
