Hi everyone

we're still sweltering here. The threatened rain and thunderstorms didn't arrive in our part of town ........... though there was a big windstorm overnight over to the north and east that blew down trees and cut power to about 10,000 people!

We're very lucky ....... I phoned Dr's office at 10 am with a "can you fit me in this afternoon". Her response was that they were very busy but she would see what they could do. She phoned back in about 10 minutes ........ appointment at 1:50 pm this afternoon :-)

I got a mossie (?) bite on the inside edge of my elbow crease about 10 days ago that seemed to be healing as normal, but then started itching again last Wednesday. By yesterday evening, there was a large red patch, some "spotty" areas, and a swelling under the bite.

I had an old tube of Phenergan in the drawer, and that helped last night ............. even though it was way out of date :-( . We can't buy it over here, so I have to buy it in England ..... we were last there in 2008!

But I thought it better to get into the docs ............ OH is busy tomorrow so wouldn't be able to take me, Wednesday is Canada Day and a holiday, and Thursday will be the "new residents" first day.

I've just had a very quick lunch so I can be ready for when OH arrives in about 30 minutes to take me there.

I hope there will be no squabbling this week.

Between you and OH :-D

You are going to be frazzled by the end of the week

By the way - we had a lovely day out. We just had a light lunch but went out for dinner at a new Chinese restaurant that has had good reviews. It was very nice as much for the atmosphere of the place as the food.

Hello Beattietoo - good to see you again. I'm in the Illawarra and it's been sunny and chilly here :-D

We have the grandchildren for four days this week. Joel is having a sleepover on Tuesday night. I won't forget because he sent me a text on his mum's phone to remind me :-D

Hello :-)

Did you mop yourself into a corner Linda?

Birthday parties are getting out of hand.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Jun 2015 15:14

We had some rain overnight, but not much which is annoying as the water barrels are empty as OH has been watering the turf patches on the lawn. It is windy now, but starting to heat up again

I am feeling industrious so I have mopped all of the downstairs wooden floors with the special cleaner/polish. I am stuck here until they dry

Hi Sue, and everyone

My daughter hired the Lego Lady for our grandson's 5th birthday in March, and rented a room at the local Canoe Club Boathouse .... actually they got the use of two rooms.

The Lego Lady did turn up ........ but what got me is that the siblings and parents of the guests are also invited :-0

We used to love birthday parties .... drop kiddiwink off and get 2 or 3 hours to ourselves!!

But they had to provide both child and adult food.

I did get an idea of what it all cost ............. and daren't think of it or I'll get angry!

Did you know the Canadian records on ancestry are free until July 1 ...... that's Canada Day, our Birthday.

I've spent most of the last 8 hours poring over those records

I'm not sure I'm solving my problem ......... which is are the Parks who emigrated to Saskatchewan around 1910 in OH's line or only a side line (ie, the "other" Parks!)?

The records let me move forward, the last one only seems to have died in 2011, but it's the English records that are now the problem. I've got back to before 1700 without any conclusive findings, ie relationship between who they say are their ancestors and who I know are OH's.

Back to it tomorrow!

It was not helped by the fact that the temperature is rising .......... it reached more than 29C in the shade in the back garden, which means this room was over 32C at one point. The fan is blowing at full force on me, and I'm drinking water like you wouldn't believe .............. and getting rid of very little of it other than by sweating!

What happened to fairy bread, cake and games in the garden. Pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs? When Drew turned five he had a petting farm with animals - I couldn't believe how much it cost although it was fun and the children loved it.

You should have gone with your son on holiday for some heat, but he wouldn't want you tagging along :-)

It is going to be really hot here next week and very muggy overnight. I had better get the fan out
