He is definitely going to open a cafe. Just look out for when he buys you one of those frilly white aprons :-D

We went up to Auckland. He has now bought a commercial coffee grinder.

Headed back a bit too late to make dinner so we ate on the way back.

Another lovely day, but hopefully not as hot as yesterday

I have to stay in awaiting a phone call from a delivery firm. Once it comes, I have to walk to the cinema to let them in. I hope they turn up early, but with my luck, it will be last thing

I could do some housework I suppose :-(

Bah, we were on the edge of the storm, so only had a few splatters of rain. When I was at the supermarket there was someone from one of the local villages who said it had been torrential with hailstones. Unfair as I wanted that rain

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Jul 2015 14:37

I am just about to go to the supermarket but it has got very dark and the thunder is rolling around the sky, so I think I will wait

It is horse racing here today, the horses will be spooked

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Jul 2015 11:10

It sounds like your OH might be thinking of opening a coffee shop in your lounge Persie. You had better start baking the cakes :-D

It is so hot here and it is only mid morning..I was supposed to be taking an old lady shopping to the supermarket, that was fine, but then she wanted to pop into the market square. As she can't walk and needs a wheelchair I wasn't looking forwards to hauling her over the cobbles in the heat. I should feel guilty that she phoned the office and cancelled it thus morning because she isn't well, but secretly I am pleased Not that she is ill of course, but that I don't have to go out

OH had his tooth out yesterday, I was concerned that the suppuration would carry on from his gum but the woman dentist explained that it was actually in the base of the tooth and this had formed a pimple on his gum which leaked into his mouth giving him this awful taste. Now thankfully the abhorrent taste has gone.

He was told no rice or mince and other things to eat so the cold lamb got eaten tonight. I did lashings of mashed potato with poached eggs for him which seemed to be okay.

Now I am wanting to buy a drier.. I have clothes on the wooden airer in the lounge and shirts hanging on door handles etc.. looks a right shambles. I did so like my shelter shed line at Sandringham.

And him well he has just bought a coffee machine as in big one like the baristas use in cafés. It is in the trunk of the car and I am not about to help lift it out, after watching two of them load it. I presume it is still in the car, he bought it before we went to Wellington in the other vehicle. He is now about to buy a commercial grinder as well. Personally I would rather just buy flat whites to take away or whatever. Hopefully it will have a good resale value. We have to get a plumber to install it as well.

I know what you mean Persie

He should never have been allowed to leave Shewsbury hospital before the wound was healed. The local hospital he was transferred to doesn't have any resident doctors, the patients are seen by their local GP's who come in.

Given the track record of his local surgery, that was just a recipe for disaster. He has just been allocated a new GP, a young one who at least has put him on the very strong antibiotics even though they are making him feel sick

At least there seems to be one nurse who rang Shrewsbury to make the appointment for him and she may try to get it earlier

I am getting quite anxious, well no that's not entirely true I started out quite anxious and then got really anxious and then felt better and then got quite anxious again and then really anxious and then felt better, now I have started on the quite anxious again and I don't want to get really anxious... I do hope that Tec will improve really really soon so he can enjoy the fish pond when completed.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Jun 2015 18:46

I managed to have a chat to Tec. He is on another lot of antibiotics very strong ones this time, so they are making him feel ill

He has an appointment to see the surgeon in Shrewsbury but not until the end of July

His fishpond us half finished, but the man had to go home this afternoon because it was too hot for him to keep digging

He sends his love to everyone and will come back when he can

I am glad you had a lovely time with the boys Persie

I hope you aren't too itchy Sylvia

It got up to 27 today according to the car thermometer. We had a day out and did a large circle trying to visit OH,s brother and sister ,but neither of them were at home. We ended up at Filey and had a long walk on the beach. I paddled and the sea was lovely and warm. I have just scrubbed the oil off the bottom of my foot so I don't get it on th e carpet

Persie ...............

welcome back!!

Those two places sound great, and not too expensive.

We found some great places to stay when we were travelling around NZ back around the Christmas holidays '92/93, although we did tend to go for B&Bs as we didn't want to carry too much food with us.

There was one great one in the Mount Eden area of Auckland

Linda ............. mossies are bad up here this year, I don't know what they are like below the line. Do be sure to have your tried and true repellent with you.

I have what seems to be erysipelas, a bacterial infection, caused by the mossie bite. So I'm on a 7 day course of antibiotics (4 a day) and can also take the lowest strength of Benadryl (1 or 2 every 4-6 hours), an antihistamine, to help stop the itching.

However, if there is no change OR it spreads in the next 48 hours ..... I have to go to Emergency to be put on IV antibiotic :-(

The doc used a pen to mark the limits of all the redness and rash today to help me note whether it had spread .............. of course the ballpoint pen marks are fading as I sweat in this heat :-) I shall have to get OH to re-mark the marks :-D

I've taken the first dose of the Benadryl, will take the first antibiotic at dinnertime, after I've got some food in me.

That's two of our Coffee Klatch group with arm problems .......... one lady fell last week and has a fracture of one of the bones in her upper arm. No plaster but a pink foam sling that fits round her wrist to keep the arm in a certain position. She goes to the specialist tomorrow (Tuesday) to find out what further treatment they'll do.

It sounds very similar to what our friend on the Island did just before Christmas last year.

V is getting home care help .......... 3x a day for about 15 minutes to help prepare food, and she could have them help her shower as well.

Hello all, got back last night from Wellington. Very nice apartment that we stayed in but the bed part and bathroom were upstairs. He had to lug the two cases up. However it was very new and we were right across the road from Moore Wilsons (an upmarket supermarket) and could walk through there to other street to a very busy café.. I called in for a morning coffee while he was in the shower and the place was packed with breakfast eaters.

On the way we stayed a night in a place called Martinborough, it is a modern house with 3 bedrooms with double beds and another room with two sets of bunks. Huge lounge and open plan dining, lovely kitchen area (part of the open plan) bathroom contained shower, toilet and pedestal hand basin plus there was another toilet. No clothes drier (was one in Wellington and they provide bedding and towels at it).. we really rattled around... might be a good place to take our Auckland family to in the summer as there is a BBQ and picnic table and seating on the deck for my SIL to play with. It cost $85 for the night so were well pleased.

We spent lots of time with Stellan and August so all was happy.

I have not read back though did notice a new person on here so hello Beatietoo.. and noticed Linda was eating cake. :-)

We had a scrummy stroganoff at daughter's on Saturday night and I did us two a little roast lamb on Sunday night and have brought back some cold meat from that for dinner tonight.
