Sylvia is finding it too hot, she had not been well as a result of a mosquito bite and the antibiotics used to treat it. They have knocked her for six..

Oh dear Linda - what a nuisance :-(

Hi Persie :-)

Freezing cold today due to a cold front straight from the Antarctic. Windy, wet and soooo cold. I'm going back to bed :-D

Aghh there were loads to pick, then old Bill who has the other half of the allotment said "Those Gooseberries need picking", so I picked lots of them as well. he wanted me to pick Blackcurrants as well, but they will have to wait until I get back

Picking is just half the job of course, they then need cleaning and freezing All done thankfully

We leave tomorrow lunchtime, I only have a couple fo small things to do. I am not sure about internet connection for the first week, but we do have it free for the second week

Persephone Report 9 Jul 2015 09:58

Do you make raspberry liqueur? That would be nice.

That certainly is a long story Persie, I hope that your daughter is O K

I am just waking up, my hospital drive yesterday was cancelled, but not to worry they asked me to do a different one this morning to who hospital further away.

I will have to go to the allotment this afternoon to pick Raspberries as they are all ready. Most of them will be wasted as we go away on Friday so there will be no one here to pick them

You were too late, I was in bed... had a long day yesterday.

Started at Pukekohe to pick up my book I ordered, then on to Wiri for him to try on trousers, then on to Penrose to talk manuals about our new coffee machine, then on to Onehunga to a café followed by a look around Mitre10 (bit like Bunnings) at showers, handbasins, tubs and loos as we are going to alter one of the properties.

Following this we went to Blockhouse Bay for him to have a skin checkup and then we went to Daughter's in New Lynn getting there not long before 4pm. She was resting... she had had a fall whilst dancing at church on Sunday, she went to a meeting after and then wasn't till next day she was all dizzy, head and neck sore and fatigue.

Thank goodness Anya runs the household, she was actually making mini-pizzas for Maia to take to a function. She sent Evan out to check the washing and seemed to know where everyone should be. I reckon my daughter should have gone to hospital and had the works CT scan X-ray etc, with her history of childhood epilepsy and a couple of bouts of weirdness as an adult. However, they went to the doctors on Monday and he did do a thorough check up and he would like her to take two weeks off work. She is opting for one.

Kayli the dog was very pleased to see us, we are so recognisable now there are no barks when we knock at the door she just looks down the stairs and can see us through the glass (she still does not go down all those stairs).. gets very excited. In fact OH said before we left I hope these trousers have enough sniffs for her.

We ate on the way home and got home after 8pm.

and that is my story.... :-) :-) :-)

I am sitting in the hospital garden waiting for a lady I am driving. She chose her own pick up time so we were massively early :-
She is agile so doesn't need me to help her. I am coming again tomorrow with a different client. I am sure the staff here must think I am incredibly unhealthy as I am here so often

Good to hear about him sounding okay. Do hope the leg starts to match his persona.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Jul 2015 19:30

I spoke to Tec today, he asked after everyone. He still has the infection in his leg, he is on his third week of antibiotics. He is very tired, so goes to bed straight after he has washed up after dinner. He promises he will come back when he can Despite everything he did sound chirpy

The fishpond is almost finished, it is full of water, but that needs to stand for a couple of weeks before the plants and fish go in

Your air quality sounds to be a problem Sylvia, the extra heat on its own is bad enough to cope with.

It is a nice sunny morning here, but only in the twenties which is very pleasant

Hi

Sue .......... I know Australia has been badly affected by drought. We stayed with my friend Beryl near Mudgee in 2006, and they had had very little rain in that area for 8 years.

California is the worst affected on this continent, partly because it has taken them so long to adjust to the reality that they were using up water at a level that could not be sustained. Even now, many big stars have green lawns that they water every day. Many farmers changed over their crops over the last 10 years to grow almond trees because there is a huge market for almonds. Unfortunately, almonds require a lot more water than their previous crops did ........... now they are ripping out the almond groves that are just coming to production.

We woke up this morning to thick smoke and a red sun :-S :-S

Nothing to do with the city, but outflow winds through the valleys from the interior of the province were (and are) bringing the smoke from big fires there. We now have sun, but it is also very smokey, and an air quality warning has just been issued. At 4 pm, it is 31C in the city, and hotter in some spots.

Hello Sue, we had another thunderstorm this afternoon, but it wasn't as good as the one during the night

Are you going to have a relaxing day to make up for last week?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 5 Jul 2015 22:45

Hello :-D

I hope you slept better Linda. Summer storms can be quite ferocious although I do like a good storm.

I do hope Esme and Eve don't get chickenpox.

Sylvia - we have some relief in the drought stricken areas but not enough to break the drought. Very worrying for the farmers. I heard on the news the other day that over the last number of years suicide amongst farmers has risen dramatically :-(

Sorry Sylvia, I didn't see that you had posted just before I signed off

We haven't got a plan B, it will be a nightmare trying to deal with the insurance if she dies get ill

How is your mossie bite doing? I hope it has improved

It is a lot cooler this morning, quite cloudy in fact, but that is fine as it is lazy Sunday. I have had my bacon sarnie and am half way through the paper

Hi Sue ....

the weather patterns are incredible!

I think we are OK in the city, so long as an idiot doesn't throw a cigarette butt out of the car outside our house :-(

There really are some idiots around, as you know only too well from fires with you..

I hope your son is enjoying Florida?
